- With the delay/pushback/postponement of Snow White and the seven dwarves starring Rachel Zegler, and Gal Gadot, re-watching the original was the next best option. To my surprise, the evil queen, who I remember being scary and menacing, seemed out of place with her goal and execution of her plans which came across as lackluster.

So in this video, I will be looking in detail at the evil queens plans, how she went about it, where I think she fell short, as well as offering so much better alternatives!
Do you think the evil queen in Snow White is a good villain especially when you compare her to other Disney villains? I will also compare her to some Disney villains, who I think have better motivations, even if they were not successful in the end; this will include scar from the lion King, Hades from Hercules and maleficent from sleeping beauty to balance it out since they are from different eras!
Thank you so much for watching! Let me know your thoughts down in the comment section below, remember to like this video and subscribe ❤️

I would watch a disney remake about the evil queen, something like a shakespearian tragedy. In the orgininal tale before the grimm version, she isn't the step-mother of snow-white but her biological mother, the same one who wished to have a beautiful daughter ! So we would have a queen so obsessed with beauty that she made a wish to have the most beautiful baby in the world, like a crazy pageant mom, playing dress up with her and showing her off. Only to see her as a rival when the princess is grown up and will soon be independant.
Ouuu! That sounds good, I’d pay to see that
If i were to make a snow-white, the mother would be trying to kill snow but also die beautiful, which is why she wouldn't stab or do something that would make snow ugly
@@liliecoffey8846and the original kind of follows what you’re saying. The evil queen chose the poisoned apple for Snow White which is a clean dëath which did not destroy snow whites natural beauty. I wonder if that was intentional or just a coincidence 🤔
Also, if Snow White's father died, the Queen would be looking for a new mate in that period in history to protect her power. She might soon be considered beyond child bearing age... making it harder to solidify a good marriage. So, when the daughter is soon approaching the age of potential marriage, she becomes more and more a rival for the Queen
To me, it isn't surprising. These stories are crafted with the intent that good must win over evil. The villains tend to have holes in their plans so that there is a chance for the good guys to win. In reality, villains are way more thorough and tie up all loose ends.
True, and that’s why I love smart villains! They make the story richer and make the triumph of the hero that much better
It's hard to write a villain smart enough to be a challenge for the heroes but not so much that there is nothing the heroes can do.
@@andreadrussel2716no it’s not scar from lion king, Shan yu had good reasons to lose like I wouldn’t expect to be defeated by a girl and the hyenas lied and said simbas dead but I will say most of the time they’re pride got in the way cause things were going so well or they let the henchmen do the dirty work and they always failed and lied
@@andreadrussel2716it may be hard but not impossible! There’s the joker from Batman (Christian bale Verizon), homelander and the villain from blue eyed samurai on Netflix
A “mirror” telling her things… I think the mirror only represents her own thoughts and insecurities, rather than “facts.”
I see… I always thought that because she summons him, he uses dark magic to provide factual information
When I was was a kid in the 1970s Snow White scared me. The skeleton reaching for water, the Queens transformation.... I also had Wizard of Oz issues
You’re so right, there’s so many scenes that are downright terrifying to watch, I wasn’t scared when I watched it but I can imagine a little kid watching it for the first time thinking it’s just a cute story about a pretty princess and apples
Have you watched the Michael Jackson version of the Wizard of Oz? What did you think?
@@Itsbabygirlt I watched the Wiz on Video back in the 80s. The songs were amazing as was the dancing. I'm sort of obsessed with remakes and different versions of Oz from Wicked to Geoff Ryman's novel Was to the many Oz sequels by L. Frank Baum, Return To Oz (which also terrified me when I saw it in the movie theater as a kid), graphic novels etc. I have a bookcase with a shelf of Oz books.
Why the heck the queen didn't transform herself into a nicer, gentler looking old lady instead still eludes me to this day. Like if I was Snow and saw a sinister hag in a dark cloak leering at me from the window I would have screamed from high hell and back. XD
Agreed 😂 that’s what I thought as well. Also, Snow White is too kind for her own good
she’s not evil according to the text, she is Vain 🪞hater queen 👸
But isn’t she evil, because she still tries to unalive her stepdaughter?
@@Itsbabygirlt defo evil, just using what I’ve always though was a more interesting-sounding name for the mean old bat 🦇
The evil queen was the most beautiful woman in the kingdom until her stepdaughter reached puberty and "became a woman". It probably means since after the moment she got her first period, since her age is actually 12, and the period symbolizes the transition from a child to a woman. The child's "coming of age" also symbolizes the aging of her stepmother. The origin of this legend is in medieval times and early renaissance, and that was the way of thinking back then. This does not mean that they are the only beautiful women in the kingdom, but that they are the MOST beautiful - each in her own generation.
@@toottoot75 thanks for sharing! ❤️ This definitely adds more depth to what wasn’t clearly seen in the original movie
@@Itsbabygirlt What did you think? The queen asked who is the fairest in the land. Not "am I better looking then Snow White". And it was always a matter of time, as the queen are older, and Snow White matured, and became a woman rather then a child.
she is definitely not 12. first y'all invented the rumour she was 14, now 12? she is 7 in the og tale, true, but on disney's version she is clear in her late teens/ early twenties
@@badeggontheyoutube145 I actually checked, and she’s 14
@@toottoot75 she is not. the Disney wiki is editable, she has no canonical age. people invented that rumour based on the voice actress's age when she was HIRED, she finished the job by the age of 18. people invented that rumour, along with that one of the prince being 31, to make the movie appear problematic. she is not 14, she is ageless, but the animators describe her as a young woman, probably 18/20
I couldn't help but wonder if the question was a slyer way of asking if her regency over Snow White's kingdom was coming to an end, & that Snow White would soon be able to/ be required to take an active role in governance - yes, she obviously has magic- but it's possible that she keeps that on the down-low, in order to manipulate without suspicion...
There's a vanity aspect & a shallow quality to the question, but there was also potential for her character to have more depth -- it was the first feature-length, & the story had to be engaging, I get that- but there's no reason that there couldn't have been *more* to the Queen's characterisation & choices.
This!! So much of her character and motivation seems underdeveloped, your explanation would have been a much more interesting and fleshed out addition to the story
Thanks for sharing ❤️
i think the true villain is prolly the mirror?
I want to agree buuuut, isn’t the mirror just reporting the facts? He doesn’t offer up what isn’t asked of him, and he probably wants a new job lol
@@Itsbabygirlt trueeee but also it was made by queens magic so it prolly has some of her “opinions”
I like Snow White as a film, but I agree that the Evil Queen is one of the weaker aspects. She's also not one of my favorite villains. The Evil Queen didn't really have a master plan.
Yeah, she’s what you expect when you hear of a cartoon villain, evil for being evil. Too bad she didn’t realize she had an insane face card lol, would have saved us the whole movie
OMG, youre both over and under thinking it. She thinks the huntsman killed Snow White. Then she thinks the apple did. Snow White was actually the rightful queen, dont forget. And the moral of the story is that being patient, kind, and hardworking, and not complaining will lead to success, and that is actually true.
I think you are also oversimplifying the story. Did you watch the full video? I mentioned that Snow White is the rightful heir to the throne which could have been a more solid motivation for the story. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😊
Eh, I think you missed the point. I believe The Queen is meant to be a character study of a person descending into madness.
🤔😂 interesting pov, so is the mirror then a figment of her imagination?
@@Itsbabygirlt The mirror itself exists, but it doesn't actually talk. Notice how small and limited everything is in the kingdom? We don't see much of anything else. WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE?! They are there, but she doesn't pay a lick of attention because she is so self absorbed. She is slowly going mad, so everything she does is 100% to serve her delusions.
This is all a crack pot theory, obviously haha
I’m here 😊😊😊😊
So glad you’re here 💓
I laughed at the options you gave on how to unalive snow white....u sure you're not an evil queen??? Hahahah push her down the well was my fav!!! Great video, im goin to go watch the others now
I can neither confirm nor deny my identity, haha 😂 thanks for watching ❤️
