I have those legibility issues tho. When I'm at the gym the hands don't let me see clear the stop timer sometimes cause they get in the way. Very Happy with the watch even though. It changed my way of wearing watches so maybe my best recent purchase. Would recommend!!
I like the black and rose gold smaller one! And as was already said, I'm definitely OK with wearing a ladies' watch if it doesn't say it on the watch itself (Baby-G...). Let's hope they do release more colorways for this smaller model in the future too.
Loving my grey casioak. I'm so glad they came out with a color that wasnt a negative display, but i'd definitely be willing to pay extra for it to be solar powered. Ive learned to live with the tiny digi display but making it bigger wouldn't hurt either.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head. As a man I want a man’s watch or at least a watch that isn’t marketed to women or a child. Why bother saying a watch is for a man or woman, just make the watch and let whoever likes it make the purchase!
I’ve bought the black Casioak with white hands and indexes after watching your previous video. So true everything you said in this one. I would just add lume on the indexes in your design to make it even more perfect.
Finally ordered one today. Was on offer for around 91 USD equivalent and I managed to bag the very last one on offer. Comes tomorrow and can't wait. Not only cool but my very first G-Shock ever. Quite excited to get it. Strange how it still gives you the feeling of getting a far more expensive watch.
I personally don’t mind wearing ladies’ watches as long as I feel they don’t clearly look like ladies watches haha. AAAAAND I’d love to see an after market metal case for the Casio Royale like the Ali-Express G-Shock cases. I’ve done a little bit of research and I didn’t find anything.
I don't care if a watch *looks like* a "ladies' watch", in fact sometimes I have seen some I really liked, but a "ladies' watch" is going to have a strap that is too small for my wrist and I can't wear it even if I want to.
Skxmod do aftermarket cases for the Royale in stainless steel (polished, matte, black, polished & black) and in bronze. I have a polished & black with an orange silicone strap, and it's brilliant. Sapphire crystal too.
Gotta agree with you Jody!! All Casio had to do do is come up with a black version with those white grey markers you have in the new smaller version! I’ve got the Camo version coming! Looking forward to it even though it is big;) well done Glynn!!!!
Can't wait for your review. Ive just got the yellow version coming this week. Drunk purchase. Can't wait but slightly nervous now due to Jodie's views on size and usability. But still looks cool.
I find the blush pink a stunner and couldn't resist ordering one as soon as I saw it. Really looking forward to seeing it in person. I think in some press shots it's very pink, but in better hands-on shots it appears more ivory (and rose gold indices are not that bright). Which is just a gorgeous unique combination. Dude here who does like a little colour and pale pinks are uber masculine 😏
I have a barely 7" wrist and most Gshocks look ridiculous on my wrist. I own a couple because i like them and their functions but I don't wear them. I would love to have a 39-42mm Gshock that wasn't a babyG. I'd wear it.
I have a "barely 7 inch wrist" and the GA-2100 looks good and fits well on my wrist. I would never, ever wear any other G-Shock on my wrist (other than a "square"). They are all seemingly made for men who weigh 200+ lbs.
If you're in to all black G's you might want to have a look at the G-MS MSG-W100G-1AJF. It's a baby-G, but it doesn't say it on the bezel nor does it look like one. Cheers from a 6" incher ;)
@@randomhandle same here. 6.5 inch wrist, yet still two out of five watches in my collection are Gs - the blue 2100 and the classic square. Both look gorgeous on me and get a ton of wrist time :)
@@randomhandle Yeah, it's the baby-G version of the GST-W300 and GST's are generally pretty thick. It doesn't wear like a 13mm watch because of the other case dimensions though, my SKX has about the same thickness but it feels way thicker than the GMS. This one will still slide under a cuff easily.
The black with rose gold looks very nice! It adds a bit of flair to a boring black G! I just don’t like that they seemed to have swapped the metal buckle for a plastic one on the mini. The new concept design for GA-2100 V2.0 is superb by the way!
I’ve been watching this line for over a year, definitely wasn’t going to pay over retail. Glad I waited, I got the all grey version with the positive display screen. Absolutely love it! I have a 7.25in wrist and it fits me just fine. Wouldn’t be mad at a couple mm smaller, but it still works as is. Thanks for another great video!
Oris, Omega, Lorier, Baume & Mercier, and Rolex owner here....FINALLY took the plunge this week and got a G-Shock.....in the black with rose gold indices 43mm baby g. I'd wanted a Casioak for a while, but I don't like huge watches. I had no idea the baby G 43 was marketed to women. Doesn't matter. It's a perfect G-Shock for me. Love this thing. I waited years for the one I'd actually would wear.
I balked on buying the Casioak when they came out due to the spec size. I just bought the tough solar Casioak a couple of months ago and it’s been on my wrist 95% of the time. I absolutely love this watch. Barely larger than my 5410 square and I don’t even notice it on my 6-5/8” wrist. If you like the looks of this watch, don’t let the size deter you. Get it and you won’t regret it!
I agree with you Jody on the smaller "Casi Oaks". I think Casio should have made them "Unisex" and had more neutral colorways that would have attracted females and males alike. Once they got gender tagged, and put some "bling" on, it is hard to take it back unless you open the case and paint the indices flat black. Anyway, the re-design looks good, it reminds me of a Breitling Ana-Digi from the '80s. Keep up the great work!
I sold my stealth version because it was so hard to read/use that it was just a fashion accessory. Loved the design tho, I might be tempted if I can find a good deal 2nd hand.
I have the stealth model and I love it. But, yeah, it's really tough to read. The penalty for looking like rogue CIA agent in a Hollywood film, I guess.
Nice watch (I love Casios). My personal favorite Casio is the Casio G-Shock GA800-1ACR. It is battery powered, but has no crown (crown can't get jammed or broken off). It has both hands and digital and I prefer it over my more expensive g-shock ($100 vs $200) because it is smaller, more comfortable, and is easier to see in the dark.
I used to loathe the Casi-Oak...I’m still not sold on it, but I might be convinced if/when they incorporate Solar. I also think it looks decidedly more compact than a similar sized G-9000 thanks to its slimmer height and overall shape.
As a Guy with the slimest wrists possible I'd buy the blue Lady Casioak. I honestly don't mind the rose-gold-ish hands and hourmarkers. Yes, they could be more masculine if they were black e.g., but mainly I'm just happy Casio released some Casioaks that potentially could somehow fit me.
I agree in the uk we just changed to summer time it was like setting the video recorder from the 80 s Use mine for work it gets a load of stick and just keeps going great video cheers
Re: Glynn's design: I dont particularly like when Ani-digitals just use a bisected dial (Think tissot T-touch) but I do love the idea of a more usable led, and getting rid of the day dial. I'd like to see a more Omega x-33 approach to the casioak. Keep the indicies, and branding, but make as much of that dial useful. While we're at it, give me a "stealth mode" where the negative LED turns off, and just looks like a full analog.
There was also a Grey version which had a positive display and that was an improvement but now is discontinued. I was waiting for the smaller version but that colours in hands and index are not of my taste. Guess at the end I will be getting the one seen on the video .
This watch doesn't look any bigger than other Casio tool watches I have. I love all types of watches and always wear what feels good. This one is a great fit! The weight (what weight?) is practically unnoticeable. I like the solar idea. And I LOVE your rendition of an improved model, Jody! Keep your videos coming. (from a Canadian female watch enthusiast)
The “re-designed” Casioak looks great! I would buy that immediately. Perhaps go one step farther and have a standard LCD display instead of an inverted one - for those of us who battle with poor eyesight.
I do like Glynn's redesign for sure! Casio take note! I was always turned off by the G-Shock branding and the overly large watch dimensions but your reviews are warming me up to it!
Im a watch guy and was browsing Casioak, wasn’t happy about the size. And BOOM, I see sale at Macy’s, where you can buy G-Shock gam s2100 with 25% discount. I thought, well if I wouldn’t like it on me, I will just return it. Once I put it on, fell in love with it, and next day looksd in to buy one more in white. But there are nowhere to find anymore. Only resales for 200-300$. It doesn’t look feminine at all. Awesome watch.
@@GodIsInHisHeaven yes, the gaw 100 for example is an awesome watch but the shiny plastic indices kinda break it for me also I don't see many people wearing a lot of pink resin watches and it might be because I have no idea who's wardrobe they fit
@@soybeing get the previous Rangeman, it's pure G-Shock, before they went a bit fashion-watchy. I have the new MTG which is also amazing, you might not like it as it's quite shiny, but it feels and looks first class.
They should have called them Unisex and offered the same colors as the bigger version along with the new colors. Considering how many colors the original came out with I'm sure they'll add more in the future, but still it's annoying. I'd buy one of they made the color version you have on now in the smaller size for sure.
Hi Jody, the perfect ana digi G Shock already exists. The GA-800. Perfect legibility with the big white hands. Digital display is incredibly clear too. The 2 white LEDs make it great for night time use. Perhaps not quite perfect. If only it was slightly smaller and solar........ Have a look at one.
I'm a little late to the party, but I needed a watch to wear outside a parka up north inside the Arctic Circle, and I ended up picking a GA-2100. And then modded it! Started with the same black and white one you have, but got new hands that all fully white with a little better lume, added a lumed index ring in place of the factor one that is unlumed for whatever reason, and swapped the module for one from a gray GA-2110 so I wouldn't have that awful reverse LCD. I'm closing in on 50 this year, I can't read those little gray number on a black background! Also took off the resin strap and added some adapters to allow some long 22mm nylon straps. Worked perfect up there in the cold, and I always knew what time it was.
I just got mine two days ago. I've got a tiny hand to be honest, and the 43ml fits me properly. Well the white color will get some visible dust over time, so I'd like the Baby G in Black/Matt black.
Bang on J. Got one these my first G-Shock. I’m 69 not totally tech. Didn’t even understand the handbook either, took 1 hour trial, error and eventually U-tube to set it up. Was absolutely dreading Summertime change last week. It took me one hour trial, error and U-tube to move it on 1 hour.
I'm getting the black/rose gold mini version for myself cuz I'm a sucker for the colour combo and don't mind a bit of bling on a G, I've had enough plain black G's for a lifetime so something a lil different is nice. I wouldn't be surprised if they offer more "unisex" colour combos for it in the future if the small version proves to be it's own hit, especially if enough people call for it
Jody, I hadn't found a G-Shock that I wanted to actually purchase until I saw the "mini" (not all that mini) on Jenni Elle's channel. I don't like the black resin case look - so, went with the white - but definitely would have like to have seen a few options not intended to appeal to women only. Looking forward to seeing it soon. Not sure if I will wear it a bunch - but certainly nice to have a really robust beater that you don't have to worry about having on your wrist in any situation. BTW - also not a fan of anything other than sapphire (or acrylic) crystals. But if the mineral gets scratched - I think I can replace with sapphire. Not sure - as I am not familiar with the G-Shock construction , but in any event, not the end of the world either way.
Shrink the regular black dial and white hand version back, make the digital readout positive, add Tough Solar and Multiband. Guaranteed bestseller once again. Bluetooth would be a Nice to Have. Great vid Jody, nice bike! 👍
Lovely to watch a review wearing the watch which I bought because of your review! Word of warning tho I bought a "bubbleback" fake off ebay and as soon as my payment went thro the listing was pulled and now despite a return my order numbers "dont compute" and im out £65, the ebay money back garantee is no such thing and caveat emptor out there folks.
I like the toughness and vibrant colour of GA 2100. I got the red on this week. And I am very happy with it. Looking forward to buy more casio watches to add to my watchlist.
A small wristed dude here, already ordered the white version, and may be get pink (or light pink) one as well depending on the hue irl. Honestly idgf what the company label it as, as long as I'm happy with the watch and size of it, I would buy it
I always been a squared g shock fan, so I’m glad I finally decided to pick one up. I would ha e loved the smaller version without the rose gold markers. They shouldn’t have done that, making it versatile for any gender would have been the way to go.
The best mod I've done on mine is there is a bloke in Indonesia that sells the Indices ring, in lume. This simple swap mod makes the watch 10X more practical. He had three colours to choose from at the time. I went with the Green the matches the hands. In daylight they look closest to the CASIO white version.
Jodi, a kinda weird question: what's your take on the CasiOak's and the square G's buckle? I think the thin polished steel buckle does not suit the watches' design at all. I have desperately searched the market for a branded, more rugged, alternative, but could not find any. Am I being nitpicky?
I agree, the digital display on the Casioak designed by Glynn are more usable...when the hands are in the 10 past 10 position. Mark from Long Island Watch does it right by the way, he just released a lot of colourways of his 38 mm SKX013 homage, some of which are pink or purple without expressly referring to them ladies' or gentlemen's watches.
I got this Casio because it is smaller than most G-Shock models out there and fits my small writst perfectly, thus I don't think it is too big, but perfectly understand they made separate models, smaller ones for girls. However they could do more manly colorways as you pointed out.
Mine has the purple case and light blue strap. Love it. Wear it for cycling over a sleeve or when playing tennis. Never use any of the bog standard digital features just want to know the time at a glance. Light and handsome. Weird how it’s been admired by so many people when it cost bugger all.
Great video Jodi. You noted all the good and bad points. I saw one of these in the flesh and was disappointed to see that the LCD segments are virtually useless. They're far too small and the reverse screen makes it even worse. The big size is okay for me but the smaller one appeals as it would fit under winter clothing easier. Yes the colour ways of the smaller one are out for me and my wife looked at them and said she didn't like then either. She would wear one of the standard colours in the smaller case.
I have to agree, however I’ve had a few with negative displays and it seems inconsistent. My GA-100 I have right now is awesomely easy to read. My previous one was almost like the entire screen was black. Even doing a battery swap offered zero improvement.
I agree as well. My problem with g shock is sometimes not being able to find the right color combo or a standard color combo for that matter. it is so difficult to get a smaller g shock model that features a dark or black color with a positive screen. My sister had to get a Japanese import just to get a dark square baby-g with a positive screen. for some reason g-shock has a tough time understanding that some people have smaller wrists or that women want standard black or dark models too that are more function than accessory.
Bought the all dark one when it first went crazy... and I love it. I hear you re functionality. But this watch is design over functionality. It’s not a do-anything G-Shock - it’s a ‘makes you smile’ watch. Adore mine and it’s in regular rotation. My go-to beater
I have the same version you’ve got and you’re right, solar and a positive rather than a negative display would be great. I don’t find mine either too big or “fiddley”, but I do wish someone would manufacture an indices-ring out of white glow-in-the-dark plastic for a reasonable price. I know it’s got a light, but I miss my lume even more than a red seconds hand!
Just ordered the same one Jody got-all black except for the white hands and indices, because I agree with Jody when he says that the all-black and all-red versions seem extremely hard to read..It’s scheduled to get to me next month, and I’m eagerly waiting for its arrival.
Jody. What I would want on that display is a huge LCD day of the week and that I could swap that out from a digital time. When you retired you have no idea what day of the week it is and that stupid little retrograde dial does help! So a real day date display that is customisable.
Love my Casioaks even tho the lcd display and light are both useless .They still look fantastic and a great 2 hander with added features if I use a microscope lol P.s was surprised to see the minis are only 2mm narrower at 43 mm
Great video Jody. Totally agree with the attempt to make the smaller versions feminine. Though I know from speaking to my wife that these are colours she would go for, so I understand why they did it. It didn't put be off adding the white one to the collection (B+W, yellow + Grey - you left that one out!). The smaller size is much more comfortable, and one think I actually like that few mention are the colour matched buttons. Love your redesign idea. Really hope Casio pay attention and one day make something similar. Well done again.
Jody there was once a time when I wouldn’t even consider wearing a digital watch, but thanks to you I now have three. Casio Tough Solar, Casio “Royale” and a G-Shock Rangeman.
I use to wear a g-shock while I'm on duty, doing my patrol, climbing walls, fighting criminals and more as a police officer here in Brazil. Sturdy, light and legible and the best, super affordable price.
I completely agree with you on the Mini-Oak branding, Jody. Disappointingly, Casio have form in this area. My watch obsession has rubbed off on my partner and she recently bought herself a clear/silver jelly F91; she loves it so much that now she's looking into getting herself another watch, perhaps a square G. The G-Shock squares are a bit too large for her liking, so naturally she's been perusing over the Baby-G options. You can immediately write off almost the entire range if, like her, you're not into pink, beige or rose-gold. There are clearly some pretty antiquated views on fashion and gender over at Casio HQ. While I'm at it I'll just put it out there that the Baby-G brand name itself is in dire need of a rethink...
Watch manufacturers and retailers all seem stuck in the 1950s when it comes to marketing. Regards gender they should just stick to wrist size and be done with it. I bet a lot more women would buy a lot more watches if the “Ladies” sections were suddenly consigned to history.
I've been eyeing the CasiOak for the past 7 or so months now, but I'm waiting for the hype to die down a bit and the black model to become more widely available at MSRP or less before I decide. I intend on modding it with the AP kit, which presents me with a dilemma ... The watch + the kit is Edifice EFS-S570 territory. A grown-up CasiOak if you ask me. Octagonal case, sapphire crystal, stainless steel all around, integrated bracelet, ani-digital chronograph, 9.7mm thin, screwdown crown & solar to boot. Its a hair smaller at 44mm. Jody, check out the Casio Edifice EFR-S108 when you get a chance, 39mm of beauty.
I bought the white one just to add to my collection. I tried to wear it on my wide but only 6.75" wrist and found it uncomfortable as the straps drops quickly after the lugs, stopping it sitting flat on my wrist. I am still glad I got it for my collection though. I have 4 full size Casioaks.
I'm wearing the Mini Casioak black with the bronze indices and since I have a skinny man wrist it wears perfectly on my arm. Do not care if it was marketed towards 'ladies'
I’m pretty sure this smaller line will get plenty of new colors in the future. I’d could already go for the black and rose gold with my 17cm wrist. Especially after aliexpress mod shops get rose gold metal mods out.
I really like that the smaller version isn’t branded as “BABY-G”.
coulda been worse!
I would wear some baby-G if Baby-G weren't on the bezel.
There is a mini collection but hard to find outside Japan
But Baby-G coloured..
I think they come in boxes that say "Baby G" but besides that its good that they didnt brand it everywhere
Yeah, that would have been alot worse!
I'd wear the smaller model if they did the same or similar colours to the standard model.
I have a strong feeling that more colors are in the cards, it’s the GShock way.

I know a guy that makes one in bronze. But it costs around 200usd.
Timex has the command urban metal which I'd say scratches the same itch
Russell!!! I almost whipped myself into a frenzy today and bought a second one too. Ha!
@@storm3016 Yeah, that sucker is pretty killer! Still surprisingly thick at 13mm, but I'd wear that thing for sure.
100% agree with your take that it is a mistake to market the smaller version as a women's watch.
Love the transparent model - looks great on the wrist.
I have the grey and blue version now also, worth checking out in terms of that element. Love my black out too though...
I have the stealth model and I love it. But, yeah, it's really tough to read. The penalty for looking like rogue CIA agent in a Hollywood film, I guess.
@@randomhandle haha, agreed, cost benefit works for me
I have it but have no problem reading it
Stealth is so fucking hard to read. Looks cia agent but its has terrible legibility
I'd wear the white mini CasiOak, or the black with the rose gold indices. I think those are pretty good-looking.
That's a pretty good redesign, looks good, I'd probably add a second hand just for familiarity.
I used to loathe the Casi-Oak...I’m still not sold on it, but I might be convinced if/when they incorporate Solar.
I also think it looks decidedly more compact than a similar sized G-9000 thanks to its slimmer height and overall shape.
I recently purchased a Hidden Coast version in orange and green and I'm delighted. Between this and my iWatch series 3 w/cellular, I'm set.
That t-shirt is a masterpiece
Heey!l was just wondering about that shirt! Could you tell me what the text means?thx😊
@@marlieslogotheti you don't have to spend a fortune, if you don't want to, to get a great watch, on your wrist
@@AK-rq1cz l wow..l can't believe l couldn't figure that out🙈🙈thx!!😊
Whew! Thx AK. I was having a dickins of a time TTFTO
We're psychically linked. I was investigating this watch yesterday and thinking jomw needed to do a video about this watch.
Psyche!
And I just tried it on my wrist yesterday. I was surprised how small it is...
I agree in the uk we just changed to summer time it was like setting the video recorder from the 80 s
Use mine for work it gets a load of stick and just keeps going great video cheers
I remember trying to record the overseas F1 races at like 0200. I regularly ended up with Open University.
I have the AWG M - 100 a with a blue aluminium bezel. It has the multi band and tough solar as well. Very legible and has 3 small round subdials.
Yes!!!
Ps... i love your redisgned casioak...much better for sure..
Love Glenn's render. A Casioak with a useful display, come Casio make it happen!
The black/rose gold and the white dial from the smaller range would both look incredible in a third party royal oak metal case
I have enjoyed the blue and grey for 4 or 5 months. Turned out to be the biggest surprise. Light weight, low profile, and interesting dial. Very cool.
Nothing screams manliness more then a gent who rocks a good looking ladies watch proudly and dosent care what anyone else thinks.
or you could argue that the man is trying too hard to prove something?...
yes but also the chromed indices look bad...
@@soybeing I like dive watches with chromed/gilt detailing, but perhaps this is resin it just looks extra cheap?
@@GodIsInHisHeaven yes, the gaw 100 for example is an awesome watch but the shiny plastic indices kinda break it for me
also I don't see many people wearing a lot of pink resin watches and it might be because I have no idea who's wardrobe they fit
The 800 is not too small for me, and I don't want "solar".
So yes, it is the perfect G as far as I'm concerned.
Love my blacked out CasiOak. About the only thing I would have liked Casio to do with it would be to black out the buckle on the strap as well.
Just picked one up for £64 brand new. Had my eye on one for a while... I'm glad I waited! Love the watch so far!!
Word of warning tho I bought a "bubbleback" fake off ebay and as soon as my payment went thro the listing was pulled and now despite a return my order numbers "dont compute" and im out £65, the ebay money back garantee is no such thing and caveat emptor out there folks.
try a paypal chargeback. ebay cs is usually quite good
@@arthurturner3080 Thanks, i'll try that, first time tbf.
How do we get in touch with him
@@soulsocket7 had to look that up here's his vid ruclips.net/video/bElTIJEBD0U/видео.html
That watch he designed is absolutely amazing, I'm getting into automatic's but I'd buy that in a heartbeat
Wouldnt mind the black+rose gold, the salmon, and white one as a summer watch
Could also work as a casual lounge watch or a going out to party piece
The biggest issue I have with G-SHOCK these days, is the negative dial. Almost entirely unreadable at a glance.
I recently bought the jellyfish model. The transparent GA-2100 and it's amazing
Jody. What I would want on that display is a huge LCD day of the week and that I could swap that out from a digital time. When you retired you have no idea what day of the week it is and that stupid little retrograde dial does help! So a real day date display that is customisable.
Love my Casioaks even tho the lcd display and light are both useless .They still look fantastic and a great 2 hander with added features if I use a microscope lol
P.s was surprised to see the minis are only 2mm narrower at 43 mm
Nice! They are so damned sensible, and so damned cheap!
Totally agree. I went to change mine to BST only to find it was already set to DST but refused to change. It's back in the box, I will wait 6 months 😂
I'm a guy and getting the 'mini' black/rosegold for Christmas 2021 and I can't wait. Looks awesome.
Watch manufacturers and retailers all seem stuck in the 1950s when it comes to marketing. Regards gender they should just stick to wrist size and be done with it. I bet a lot more women would buy a lot more watches if the “Ladies” sections were suddenly consigned to history.
Astonishing timepiece for the price. Casio deserve all of their success. I’ll be adding the green metal to my black and white.
Love the reimagined design. That would be a day one for me.
This is my first g-shock, just ordered it and I’m so excited
The mockup is essentially the GA800, which I have and love.
About time Skmei made a Baby Casioak in 40mm

I’m pretty sure this smaller line will get plenty of new colors in the future. I’d could already go for the black and rose gold with my 17cm wrist. Especially after aliexpress mod shops get rose gold metal mods out.
I bought all 4 of the new "ladies" smaller GA2100s and I love em. Spot on video, Jody, in all regards.
