I have two Ram HD 6.4 HDs. They are used for ranch work. They haul hay, tractors, and livestock. I’ve owned several F250s, and they were great trucks, but in my experience, nothing comes close to the ZF 8 transmission. It really digs in when you’re hauling 15,000 lbs of high up a wet, snow covered dirt road or across hilly, uneven pastures. If they are putting that transmission in their diesel trucks, there is absolutely no comparison to the strength and reliability of that combination. I don’t own any diesels because I don’t usually haul heavy loads for long distances, but I would buy that. It’s a truck you will own for 20 years.

I’m a Ram guy through and through, however I own a Chevy right now due to my experience with the 68rfe (I don’t need a 3500 H.O, so I wouldn’t mess with the Aisin anyways). I have sworn up and down I would not own another Ram until the 68rfe is out of their 2500s and they replace it with an 8 speed. Lo and behold it is finally happening. Once my duramax gets paid off I will be jumping back to a Cummins

I have given up on Jeep after 2 compasses and a Grand Cherokee 4xE - Have a GMC Canyon now - very happy with it. Jeep keeps bringing me back with the looks - but after a hail storm and having to replace what felt like 100 trim pieces I can say the simpler the better. @@OntarioGuy430 One thing that’s growing on me about GM products is how cheap replacement parts are. However I’m impartial to the Stellantis products due to my first two trucks being rams and having virtually no issues with it until my transmission in my Cummins started going and went to Chevy. GM still makes a good product though, those newer Canyons look sharp

The power increase is long overdue but the biggest benefit will be the ZF transmission. It's been far too long putting up with that awful 68RFE. It's almost a guarantee that you'll replace or rebuild that transmission at 150k miles if you tow a lot. Unfortunately, unless they replace the cab and a longer bed to the new DT style, they are going to half ass it like they've been doing since 2019 when the half ton was introduced. the current HD cab is just too small and heavy.

And on a truck that has less than 8000 miles on it. You should not have to constantly drive an extra 200 miles a month just to keep from triggering a light. Uh, no - if the engines are built for it, the extra output should have no difference on the stresses on the engine - and when it's not being loaded to the maximum, it gives more head-room, and so expectation of engine life, compared to a 'lower output' engine running closer to it's specified limits.
