- I have been avoiding other playthroughs and spoilers to Fallout New Vegas for literally years, all for this blind playthrough!
Alongside that, I am going to be visiting many of the real life locations I find within the game! I'll have a preview of my visit during the intro, then show my full trip during the outro.

The game is rated so highly not just for the characters, but everything else that's not combat-related - the only thing F4 does well. The factions are much more developed, most quests are better (you haven't seen the best ones yet, wait for the beef) and yes, the characters. But the thing that does it for me is the map design - it has several factions with defined zones of control, struggle and clashes with other factions, multiple settlements with interconnected relations and places with people in them.
F4 felt empty (of populated locations and npcs) and lifeless outside of the V81-DC-GN belt. There were a few minor spots like the Cabot House, Covenant (lifeless after its short quest is done), Atom Cats or the arena Cate is at - but the game was mostly mook-infested shooting galleries with occasional terminal notes that got repetitive and boring fast. And a couple dozen empty spaces one can use for bolted-on, unconnected to anything else in the world minecrafting.
In FNV I can list at least 25-30 populated spots right off the top of my head, big and small, with npcs and quests to them, some of which are pretty huge. The map has so much more life, people to talk to and quests to do. It has so much more depth.
Its not thattt it’s only there at night. It’s that the door is marked as owned so opening causes you to lose karma and if you are there in the day and the owner is there he might turn hostile. Also I say this every time but loving this series!
