    Other tip: you can control the Wii Menu with the Classic Controller (but not the GameCube controller for some reason). I just mod it with Priiloader to autoload USB Loader GX instead of going into the Wii Menu so it can accept any input device by the start and even though the app is made to load games through USB, it loads discs and patch them for online connectivity and such.

      One problem. This 100% compatible notion is wrong. On xenoblade it crashes on certain bosses like xord and that never happens on the Wii. For me the Wii u playing Wii games is kinda irrelevant if the game freezes or gets infinite loading screen bug. Also. Xenoblade runs way slower using Wii u than on Wii. The fps dips way more.

      I've never had a problem syncing the controllers. The likely issues on the battery packs is that the batteries went bad. I have the Energizer battery packs. It uses wireless charging (I think it's Qi but not sure). The really nice thing is that the power storage in the battery pack is just 2 AAA NiMH batteries. Go on Amazon and buy some new Amazon Basics NiMH batteries and 2 philips screws later... working great again.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 5 лет назад

      @@tennies Yes that's the problem if you let the battery packs, or batteries in general sit in the Wiimotes(I always take mine out after charging, and when done playing) because it always keeps a very slow drain on them looking for the always on connection. My only issues have been pairing a couple of 3rd party controllers after having not used my system for months on end, or programmers who did not know how to make proper controls for the games, and an arcade stick which plugs into the Wiimote that freaks out on a handful of games, and homebrew emulators if I have the motion plus adapter on them. So overall a good experience for me.

  • @lostboy626
    @lostboy626 5 лет назад +4

    "WOW!" indeed. The Wii is nowhere near my favorite console, but I've never had issues like you have. I didn't know about the 3rd party alternative to trick the Wii U into using GC controllers for Wii games, so I may need to look into that. Also, I'll disagree about AA batteries. Because of the cost and limited life of batteries, especially proprietary ones, I prefer the option to use AA or AAA rechargeables. I use them for 360, Xbone, and Wii. They are plentiful and won't have to worry about them becoming hard to replace in the future. I had the 360 charging kit and my battery died just before the Xbone came out. Don't want to pay for the cost of a replacement, but already had a charger that came with a camera I had, and got some AA rechargeables. No looking back now, it's my go to and I know they'll be around for a long time.

    • @davion4777
      @davion4777 3 года назад

      I’ll never understand this whole “proprietary batteries on controller are bad and will die in some year” argument. I’ve NEVER had any issues with my PS3 and PS4 controllers, or even the Wii U gamepad or Switch pro controller, all of them bought when they launched at day 1.
      Charging them with just a cable is just way, WAY more convenient than AAA batteries, and this bullshit you all agree on is why Microsoft continues to sell you controllers without batteries just to sell their “play and charge kit”.

    • @lostboy626
      @lostboy626 3 года назад

      My PS3 and PS4 controllers do not hold the same charge that they used to. For me it’s no more inconvenient to plug in my rechargeable batteries than it is to plug the controller into a USB port. I always have a fresh charged pair at the ready when the used pair goes flat. At least I know I likely ever won’t have to worry about what to do with a dead rechargeable battery buried in the controller. I won’t ever buy a play and charge from M$ again, but I appreciate that they give you options. To each their own.

    I bought a used Wii 2 years ago. The Wiimote works fine with AA batteries, it doesn’t jump all over the screen when your using it to select anything. I bought a classic controller and GC controller and they both work fine with it. I’m not sure why you’re having so much trouble with it. I play Sonic Colors every now and then and the response to my controller is fine. It’s a good console, I was never a huge fan of the motion controller, but as a console it’s fine. Frankly, anyone who owns a Wii that wants to use it should mod it. You can backup your games stupid easily using a hard drive. All you really need to get started is an SD card. You can even use an alternate "Wii Menu" that lets you navigate it using a GameCube controller. Might be a way to get the Wii U to do that, but Wii U modding is a MASSIVE pain in the rear.

    I can't stand the Wiimote either, just not a fan of the 'split controller' style. Give me one full-sized controller and I'll be happy!
    That said, I really haven't had many issues getting my Wiimote to aim correctly, as others have stated prior, its likely a lightning issue in your room.
    Don't have bright lights in front of the remote, try to turn off most lights or dim them low to see if it helps with the shaky / jittering.
    Go to the options menu and calibrate the two dots (which is the sensor bar's IR lights) until you are satisfied enough with the results.
    This should improve your Wii enjoyment (ever so slightly). Also invest in some Eneloop rechargeable batteries, buy an 8 pack of AA batteries with the charger, you'll be glad you did!

    While I'm not really that fond of the motion controls in a lot of Wii games, as they often felt forced and unnecessary, I can honestly say I've never had any of the issues you've had with the sensor, I always found the Wii remotes to be pretty accurate and stable.

  • @joneslarvell2075

    I respect your point of view man and I am not here to change it, but I honestly cannot understand it!
    I remember sitting on my couch, with a comfy pillow under my right hand pointing the wii controller on the bar (directly under the screen and centered at 2m)
    I was only moving my wrist to move the cursor and my hand was always relaxed on top of the comfy pillow. Best experience I have ever had concerning laser sharp accuracy!
    I remember performing head-shots on fps games that I cannot even dream off with dual analog sticks!
    I will not say ‘you are holding it wrong!’... but damn I have seen so many people holding the wii controller, extending their hand in front of them and then trying to play an fps or navigate the menu! Why?! Even IF you have accuracy that way (I never did) how long do you expect to keep your arm raised mid air in front of you?!
    I am sorry this is nothing personal, I just felt I needed to get it out of my system after all those years listening to people about how bad motion controls are!
    (I am not saying they cannot be crapy if not implemented properly by the developers, or configured properly by the end user)
    Anyway,... great video, keep up the good work! ☺️

      I think some has to do with your room setup, because if it's too bright the Wiimote can't see the sensor bar, and there are some 3rd party bars that are a wireless, and a bit brighter then the original one that help.

    I got the MClassic and it really does make Wii games look better and I imagine they will be more immersive now. Did really well on Tomb Raider Anniversary, Nights Journey of Dreams, and Xenoblade Chronicles, the Wii looks and feels really good now.
    However, for some reason it doesn't do much to Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and that game needs it a lot. Perhaps there's too much detail on screen or something. But the opening bit in the forest still looks like a mess. It's so weird, on the PC, you play a messing looking old game like Jedi Academy or Outcast, and you just set up an Nvidia profile for it and turn on FXAA and it instantly cleans it up, for free with barely any hit on the graphics card.
    If you have a Wii U and a load of Wii games, it's easy to recommend, because Wii games REALLY need this device. However, given the price tag, there isn't much else of a reason I would recommend it.
    It feels like the Wii, like the Game Cube, was meant for a 4:3 image, but is forced to do a 16:9 image, and it really doesn't look good doing it. If Nintendo wasn't going to make the Wii powerful like it's competition at the time, they could have at least made it so these MClassic capabilities were built into the Wii from the start. I've always said about the Wii "I'd just be happy for some decent AA ability". It's annoying that Nintendo didn't do this themselves. just something basic like FXAA would have been incredible. The messy output was always one of the things that put me off playing this console more.

      Otherwise it's designed for all retro gaming. To be fair though, most retro games are a lot simpler in looks when it comes to colours with more obvious differences.

    Also as some viewers noticed - there is WiiDual mod which is no longer available but there are other GCVIdeo derivatives like awesome HDMI board from Arthrimus. I always find it kinda funny that both you and Rich from ReviewTechUSA didn't like the original Wii because of its controller, but you two like the Wii U because of ITS controller.
    But the truth about the original Wii is that it's a good game system.
    If you ignore the shovelware that the system received and focus on all the great games (both first and especially third-party) that are actually worth playing (because it had a lot of shovelware, but it definitely has a lot of hidden gems, as well), it's not that bad. Just like the Wii U, which I will always love and respect as a gaming system, it's really good.
    Now personally, I understand why you don't like the Wii Remote, although I don't detest it like you do, but there's a lot of games in the Wii and Wii U's libraries that let you use other controllers (I know you choose the GameCube controller, but I would highly recommend the Wii Classic Controller Pro because that's a really good controller, too.)

    • @nsgames24

      Also, if you ever want to revisit the original Wii and don't want to deal with using the Wii Remote by itself, especially by navigating the Home Menu, then here's a heads up for ya.
      If you get an official Wii Classic Controller (or the official Wii Classic Controller Pro, which is the one that I personally prefer using) and plug it into the Wii Remote when you turn the system on, you can actually navigate the Home Menu by using the Classic Controller by itself, but just make sure that the Wii Remote isn't facing the Sensor Bar because if that happens, it won't work.

The emulators are very good too, you can use retroarch nes cores to have less input lag.

      I’d probably have to update my wii firmware. Which good luck me figuring out how to do that. I mean, when I homebrewed this and updated it once, it was a new thing. For example, Skyward Sword had just come out, and it was blocked on my firmware. That is how outdated i am. I’m not sure if a simple update would do. I may have to start from scratch, not sure. The HDD im using lol is probably outdated by now too.

    Citrus3000 made a digital to digital HDMI mod for the wii. In every way shape and form, it is the ultimate way to "get the best picture quality" from both wii and gamecube games if you use an original wii. However, I realize that you love the mcable and are probably sponsored by them so you have to keep making outdated videos about it. You never had wii motes die on you? I can see the shaky sensor stuff saying you never had an issue with. But come on, wii motes are notorious for going out. With precisely the issue he stated. Flashing then nothing. I recently just opened 4 brand new in box Wii U wii motes that had been displayed on my shelf for a couple years. Never used, never opened. Not one of them worked. All flashed and die. The original white ones im convinced would not last a year, even with light usage.

    After watching this a few thought came to mind. I'll just say first that I watched your video on the hdmi adapter for the ps2/ps1 recently. You had stated that that adapter makes the ps1 shine. When you did that in comparison to running ps1 on ps3 did you drop the output to 480 as well when using the m-cable? Im honestly wondering how much better the m-cable will work on say a ps3 or 360 when running at 480 for ps1 and original xbox games. Im not even sure if you can drop those systems that low in the settings when outputting through hdmi, I've never actually checked. Just a thought, and wondering if you have tried that as well. Always enjoy your videos, I've learned a lot from you over the years.

    • @AdamKoralik

      It's because Wii games run natively at 480p. To clarify, it's best to set consoles to whatever they run games at natively.
      In the case of PS3 and Xbox 360, they upscale to 1080p, but run natively at 720p. So setting it to not upscale and letting the mCable do the work is where you are the best results.

Everytime I've played games on the console it performed as it should have. The Wii remote worked properly as it should have. The Wii remote can be frustrating to use for gamers who are used to standard console controllers as it may not seem as precise, or muscle failure sets in and gamers get tired. I've gotten super deals over the last few years involving Wii consoles with games & accessories at breakneck prices. I can't say no and am looking to increase my Wii collection.

    While I really like the effect the Mcable has on more modern, higher resolution stuff, I'm honestly not sure I like it for 480p content, looks a little too soft and blurry at times, for example look at the detail lost in the brickwork on the underside arches at 7:30, or the gold edges of the carpet. Perhaps it's more of an issue of the Wii already having quite a soft output compared to other 480p consoles because I seem to remember being impressed with the results of the Dreamcast comparison you did with the Mcable.
    It would be interesting to see what it would look like on an original Wii with the Wii Dual HDMI mod which gives it a true direct digital signal that is basically identical the GameCubes output.

    I actually agree with you totally about the Wii. I wish nintendo would port Wii games to the switch instead of so manu Wii U games.

    I wanted to get another gamecube but they’re way too expensive. I bought a very good Condition original Wii for 60$. 2 brand new gamecube controllers and a may flash hdmi adapter! I also have the mclassic to add to it!

    I can honestly say I am not fan of Wii but loved the WiiiU. I will say I never had any issue with the remotes flipping out though or trouble even syncing them. I found it shined as a party machine where ppl would play mini games and things.

    The flickering could be due to the amount of light in the room. I know the sensor bar can mess up as I used to play the Wii in my Granda’s Conservatory and it wouldn’t stabilise till it got dark. The Wii is still my favourite System.

    • @solidust573
      @solidust573 5 лет назад

      True. I've also learned that having the sensor bar upside down causes the wiimote curser to behave in a similar manner.

      It gets crazy if there are glass around, like tables with glass on top, which reflects light and makes the pointer behave strangely.

    • @sergeantconagher
      @sergeantconagher 5 лет назад +1

      That and being too close. If you're closer than 3 feet from the TV, the pointer WILL lose its mind.

      The sensor bar uses infrared, so depending on the type of lighting you have and how well infrared is reflected by your surroundings, you could definitely have issues.

      Yes lighting can play a big part with setting up the wii remotes.

      Seriously!! Forced motion controls is what stops me from enjoying the Wii most of the time at least give an option to use it!!! Motion controls is just a gimmick imo.

      I you have a modded Wii, there is a hack cheat for usb loader to play donkey Kong country returns with a classic controller. I’m also making vids for all the games that work on a modded Wii with arcade sticks/classic controllers if interested

    I bought an mCable to pair with my EON GCHD for my Gamecube after watching one of your videos and could not be more happy I did. Great video, Adam! keep spreading the good mCable word.

      Does it work well on 4k tv's? I've been wanting to do that but I've been skeptical

    • @kristopheralonge2813
      @kristopheralonge2813 5 лет назад +1

      @@TH3SLEEPING sure, It works fine, although the mCable only upscales up to 1080p. Your tv's internal upscaler brings it the rest of the way to 4k. (short/non-complicated answer: Yes it works and you should do it.)

      The Sleeping wait for the mClassic later this year. It’s a dongle they’re making to upscale to 4K.

      @@JA-fp9yf yeah, dude! you know how pc games have antialiasing options? imagine AA built into an hdmi cable: thats what the mCable does + it upscales to 1080p better than any tv could do on it's own.

    Sorry to hear you've had all these problems with the Wii console. I wish you were in my place so I could show you my Wii console, working great for years, no issues with the tracker, Mario Kart Wii works great with the motion controls, the gamecube controller responds perfect. May be your Wii is defected.

    • @AdamKoralik

      I highly doubt every Wii I've ever used has been defective.
