I am staggered by the amount of drivers who do not hear , see, or GET OUT THE WAY of the blue lights . I wonder how many are looking at their phone , illegally , instead of paying attention .

56:35. this is the problem with driver hours. the HGV driver who killed 3 people could well have been overly tired and just had a moments laps of concentration. rightly he was given prison time because this could have been avoided. but then you have the polish driver who was just stopped from driving for 11 hours and nothing more. he could have so easily been driving down the Mway and lost concentration because he was tired. yet he just shrugs his shoulders and doesnt care one bit!

I agree!! In my opinion, he should have been arrested because it wasn't his first offense and banned from driving in the UK for at least a year before being returned to Poland without his truck.

    So heartbreaking the last accident.
The 4 years of prison was deserved, but weirdly I feel a bit bad for him as well. His life is ruined. But then again, so was the life he killed.

It's such a hard one to judge, especially someone with no prior convictions. I don't know if prison time is right because it doesn't feel criminal as such, but I don't know what, if anything, is more appropriate. You can't satisfy everyone when it comes to sentencing anyway.

      @@maxek46 True, it is hard.
In the broader picture: Is prison always right?
So I am not sure either, but I feel prison was the right here. He made a mistake, that the rest of the que didn’t do. Killing 3 people that way have to have consequences.
Even if like on of the relatives said: He probably didn’t plan this when he started working.

The serious accident at the end was just heartbreaking. The truck driver had no malice. It was just a momentary lapse, truly an accident-but it ruined so many lives. The families of the victims of course, and the truck driver who will live with his guilt and moral injury until the end of his days. Such a massive tragedy. 😢

I wasn't close to my brother but when he was killed it still ripped through me. In his case it was his fault, he was drunk wearing all black including a black hat and gloves staggering along an unlit dual carriageway, he staggered out into the road and was hit by a truck, police were already on the way because other motorists had nearly hit him and reported it but the police got there literally 1min too late.
I have never met the driver of the truck, I feel for him, it not being his fault changes nothing, he is haunted by what happened.

Yes, Very tragic without a doubt. I worked in EMS on my local Ambulance and then up in Chicagoland for a total of about 8yrs going back in the mid and late 1980's and I understand completely what everyone is dealing with. Now I would like to focus on something I have spent a lot of time reviewing and that is Dash Cam video from around London and other cities and carriageways. The things that every segment of vehicle drivers do, multiple times daily while on those roads is crazy and selfish beyond explanation and if only they could look inside that car with the tarp over it maybe it would make them think. No, not every driver is dangerous and selfish and yes this unsafe, selfish driving is every where around the world,, but in reference to the dash cams I watch and content listened to,, Things are much worse,, law enforcement seems to be evaporating (for what ever reason) among crazy policies in my country and yours and extreme Selfishness is at an all time High and things feel like I went to sleep and awoke in some other crazy world.

UK police vehicles are generally equipped with shitty sirens, something to do with not wanting to cause too much noise. I can barely hear them on 30 roads sometimes. Perhaps better sirens should be utilised exclusively on motorways.

I'm a UK expat living in China and it's very simple to get around this by getting an international driving license, not expensive or time consuming.
I should add I believe you can only drive with one in the uk for a maximum of one year.

There's clearly a pedestrian path right there, not to mention the narrator saying they got a lift into town so they weren't stranded. But I will say if there hadn't been a child there then it's probable that he would've left them there (as they often do, can't give a lift to everyone or they'd never get any work done) but even so there was probably a bus stop somewhere along that road.
