      Very impressive!
If the farmers can't sleep they should put them up in hotels away from the noise.
This is what I wonder....all the fields that grow the food we eat on either side of the moterway and all the bodies of water.....are subject to a constant and microscopic rain of tyre rubber.
Think about where all the rubber goes when the road surface wears it away.

That woman in the lorry who was complaining about being pulled over should be ashamed of herself. Yes transporting of goods is a requirement, but so is having a responsible vehicle. Telling people they should be grateful is ludicrous, when her vehicle is defective is astounding.

At the scene of one accident in Germany, a firefighter kept people from filming out of their their cars simply by turning a firehose on the cars where people were filming.
In another instance, a police officer stopped some cars where drivers were filming, got the driver out and invited him to take a closer look, saying „There’s a dead body in there - wanna see? Come on, take a look!“ The vast majority of people were suddenly not that keen on filming anymore and preferred to leave the scene...but not without a fine and in some cases penalty points.

@@coover65 It's not just a nuisance. They slow down traffic and therefore slow down potential emergency vehicles. And yes, it is illegal in Germany to photograph and film an accident or injured people. Just "Gaffen" (trans. to gawk/stare) is also illegal and carries a fine anywhere from 20 - 1000 Euros. A lot of Europe has a "it's none of your god damn business" mentality about accidents and injured people. Basically if you aren't involved or helping, get lost, nobody needs spectators.

LeeWhy It largely depends on the vehicle you’re driving, thanks to reality TV it’s now common knowledge how old unmarked vehicles are, and the models being used can be found on the local force’s website - and who crews them.
Ultimately though, if it takes a sticker to alter the attitudes and behaviour of motorists’ then cars should have 5 random questions from the Highway Code to be answered correctly before the engine can be started - most modern consoles could easily handle that, and an alcohol test, a drug screen test, and a baton and cuffs secreted in the headrests for passengers to make safe and efficient civilian arrests and detainment until someone in uniform arrives and Tazes them before releasing them back into society. The car can then text all the members of the driver’s family to alert them as to the extent of the misdemeanour which should then also be shown at the end of the national news alerting other drivers to avoid the city where the highest rate of offences occur, thus impacting on local economy and hopefully leading to the mandatory use of bicycles under the pretext of the alleged adverse effects to health from any airborne carcinogens and contaminants, the danger posed by biofuels to the ionosphere and ozone layers further impacting on an atmosphere not conducive to good health and long living. Repeat offenders should be sent to Brazil or India where they can learn how to drive with reckless endangerment properly and safely. Oops, almost got spotted there, but I believe that mild intoxication and occasional phone use helps me to really concentrate more on driving safely - well, more alertly as I’m now mindful of the tricks coppers use, especially us traffic bobbies as we have additional embarrassment to deal with at the nick.
This probably warranted a post of its own rather than being a lengthy response to a valid point well presented. It’s also true.

Always remember that lorries (or trucks as we call them here in the US) have a much wider blind angle than a car. Never drive in a lorries's blind angle. The driver will not be able to see you and that can be catastrophic. Sometime last year I was on the highway driving to work and my car broke down. I switched on my hazard lights and pulled over onto the shoulder. I called for a tow truck and I also called the police to ask if they could send a trooper out to make sure that I was all right since traffic was just whizzing by me. The police came first and activated their emergency lights. Not longer after that, the tow truck showed up and activated his caution lights. Do you think traffic slowed down? NO!! Believe me, we were VERY visible! Ridiculous!

In VA where I live now there’s at least 1 major crash a year on a road near my house. People love racing and even if not racing where I live people feel they need to be somewhere quickly. If a road is 35mph people believe they should go at least 40 mph and usually go 60 and above. It’s very terrifying. I was heading to school one time turned and bam someone was behind me. We avoided an accident but people go so fast there is no telling when they’ll be behind. The most I ever go is 10 mph over speed limit but most of time just 5. People hate me because that’s slow to them. I’ve had people even cut in front of the car during a red light driving straight into traffic just missing others

For road construction areas in the US, our transportation agencies both live cal and national, erect portable concrete barriers to close any existing lanes and protect the construction workers. They can then work during the day and ease the nighttime complaint and workers also benefit from not having the sleep/ wake cycles interrupted. Additionally the public can see the progress of the construction
When motorists can see the progress, they are at a greater position to support the work, maintain lower speeds and thereby lessen the incidence of collisions. The government should have acquired the triangle field from the farmer as part of the land acquisition process.

I love these shows. I wish more USA shows were done like this. My ex (now deceased) was a trucker for 30 years. He taught my three sons to drive a 18-wheeler as we call them here at an early age. We would ride with him on occasion for some trips. The boys were thrilled. Not so much for me. It was ok. Now my oldest is a tankerman for an oil company. He operates the long barges that hauls fuel to their destinations. I worry to death about him. It can be quite treacherous in icy waters. I will be so glad when he finally gets his captain's license. "No Such Thing As An Accident"? I challenge that. Having attended about 2700 traffic crashes as a paramedic, I can recall about 4 that were could be deemed "accidents", due to extrinsic natural factors such as a tree branch falling and killing an occupant. Apart from those and the very infrequent acute medical episode causing a crash, the others certainly weren't "accidents".

@@imconfused1237 I speak as somebody had careers in ambulance and policing when I say we refer to an "accident" as an event where no human fault could be attributed to the event. People may not certainly intend to crash, but stupid acts while operating a motor vehicle such as not paying attention and driving beyond their abilities cause crashes. I'd estimate that 99% of crashes can be attributed to human blame, and therefore not classed in the eyes of the law as "accidents".

I really felt that woman's pain but sadly cars and lorries are driven by human beings and we are by our very nature stupid at times so while I like to think that it should be possible for us to change there is little evidence to that being possible and now we have self driving cars thrown into the mix sadly I feel that we have not seen anything yet as far as road collisions are concerned.

They should make an extreme awareness course that shows all the bad things that the police have to face on a daily basis as part of the driving test. So many collisions would be avoided & more common sense would prevail if people knew the full truth.

In South Australia, traffic has to drive at 25km/hr, when Police/emergency services vehicles are stopped, with lights flashing…even on freeways. The same goes for school stopped school buses. It keeps everyone safe. Better to lose a few minutes than a life. It works well here.

I got my provisional motorcycle licence when I was 16 so I could ride a 50 cc and my professional car licence at 17. That was in 1982 and 1983. I passed both my motorbike and car driving tests in 1983. I am now 57 years old. In the 40 years of having a full licence the driving standards of motorists in the UK have dropped. It's not just me who's noticed this.
I was at a scene of an RTC as part of the recovery. A driver in a Reliant Robin pulled out of a junction junction straight into the path of an oncoming BMW. The cause was the Reliant driver not paying attention and obviously the BMW driver was very shook up. Unfortunately as the Reliant was made of fibreglass the driver was killed instantly.

I'm curious, this is a question for all you Brits....Here is the USA, if the freeway (you call it a Motorway) is closed, we have other, smaller highways that we can move to so we are not waiting as long. These are roads that, before the highways were built, were used for international travel. An example is the famous Route 66. Do you have similar roads or is the Motorway the only way to get from one city to another on the other side of the country?

    • @victoriahunter4684

There is a network of roads. The M roads are the motorways, then you have the A roads, which are mostly dual carriage ways, and then B roads

A gallon or two of that spilled milk and a few loaves of bread would have found it's way into my fridge if i was there that's for sure. The entire load was a loss as far as the insurance company is concerned so why not? 20 years ago my truck caught fire with a load of fresh cut flowers heading to local flower shops for Valentine's day. The fire was due to some electrical malfunction in the engine, probably some faulty wiring. The entire cab and the top half of the trailer was a total loss but there were quite a few boxes on the bottom of the pallets that were untouched. My boss arrived on the scene a couple hours later while the fire crew was doing cleanup and he told them to help themselves to as much of it as they want because the entire load was a loss.

Many, many years ago my grandfather and dad were on a local volunteer fire department which responded to a freight train derailment. It was very rural and only 2-3 box cars rolled off the tracks with little damage to them. They were full of vegetables and frozen chickens. The train people said everything had to be disposed of. I recall my grandmother and mom canning and freezing cases of vegetables and chicken. Local schools and even the tiny local hospital welcomed free food - back in the days schools actually cooked lunch, and the hospital wasn't obsessing over liability problems. I imagine today's health inspector would have a cow, but no one got sick, except we burned out over all the meals with chicken.

there is exceptions of course, if i remember if your vehicle is damaged or breaks out you can pull onto the shoulder and only for that or if the emergency services direct you to.

This is an interesting perspective as an american. In america, truckers are considered the safest drivers on the road.

    • @rivertam1000
      @rivertam1000 Год назад

The roads in the US are a lot friendlier to truckers. There are also relatively frequent, cheapish truck stops with space for sleep breaks. The constraints are also different since UK stores run on an 'order at last min' model so delays cause worse problems.
