Grand Master Oliver is awesome in his method and training method. I have viewed many knife training videos and by far this is the best.
I am more of a gun guy, but after getting stabbed by a knife I wanted to learn what to watch out for and how to avoid getting stabbed ever again.
I used to own a night club and we did see our share of fights, but the bouncers always broke it up and threw one or both parties out. The night I got stabbed was a typical night the club was about to close, last call was already called and I was in my back office counting up the drawers and closing up, when I heard some commotion and saw on the security camera screen that there was some argument happening with the bartender and a client. I walked out of my office to see what was taking place (bad move) and when I reached the bar I saw 2 guys arguing with the bartender to let them have one more shot. I had never seen these guys before and I told them that we really cannot sell them anything as our license doesn't permit us to sell after 2 am. While I was sorting things out a regular customer of ours crept up on my side and before I saw, he had stuck a knife in me, in my lower right side. It was a sharp pain and blood gushed out of me like a sprinkler... everyone moved back and my bouncers had the guy in a choke lock and then on the floor. I was shocked at what had happened and seeing who stabbed me.. a quiet little guy who was a regular. I started walking to my office door thinking shall I pull the knife out of my belly or just let it be.. I had a few of my employees by my side by then... I remember looking down at the floor I could see a big blood trail. I felt dizzy and the bouncers had me up off the ground and placed me on the table. I could hear sirens and then someone shaking me to wake me up. The paramedics had arrived, while I had become unconscious, they woke me up placed all sorts of stuff on me and secured the knife, which was still sticking out of me, with some sort of duck-tape and we were off to the hospital. Later the doctor said that it was good that I didn't pull the knife out, because if I had then most likely I would have been dead.
The S.O.B. who stabbed me had no recollection of his actions and was very sorry that he stabbed me. He told the court that he was afraid and he wanted to stab the other guy he thought but he stabbed the first guy he saw... F**king creep. They said that he was on medication and the alcohol made him delusional. He was termed to have suppressed aggressive behavior disorder... What ? I sold the bar for whatever I got and came out of that business. Oh one thing I didn't mention, the bouncers who are supposed to check everyone, didn't check the regulars and thus this jerk had smuggled the knife in his pocket.
Lesson ONE: Stay in the office and be ready call the police. Lesson Two: Check everyone including employees for weapons and Lesson Three: Never let anyone come close to you. I had a lot of sympathizers and everyone gave advice. But the advice I gave myself was the 3 lessons I mentioned.
I also have been shot before, but that is another story.

Fwiw, I'm sorry that happened to you, and I support your 3 lessons! There is another video with Garduce where he explains that you will not see a knife attack from someone who is really trying to hurt you. So, best advice is to stay away from anyone who suspect might come at you with a knife.

Love this. As a practitioner of Kali Escrima (Ilustrisimo) and Silat, these things may look easy to do but they are not in fact when you have a real sparring session. Specially if you're dealing with another trained individual. It boils down not only to technique, but sheer speed, and reflexes. You'd be amazed how quick some people can be the blade and how deadly they could actually be. It takes many years of practice, of repetition, of creating real life scenarios. But, at the same time, it is great to learn. It is a great valuable experience.

That's crazy impressive and genuinely terrifying; in the little demonstration at about 7:30 I tried to count and it seems like he managed to get about 15-18 seperate cuts all on your hands and forearms. Just go to show that in a real knife fight against a competent opponent, the average person would be in ribbons and even someone who knows how to fight likely won't come away unscathed either. Very good demonstration and video

Lots of comments saying how running away is best.
    Agree. But.
What if you stumble in your haste especially because your are actually thinking of what is behind you.
What if the guy with the knife runs faster than you.
What if you cannot run away because of your surroundings or because you cannot leave behind someone else.
Knife defense training has its place.
Like fire insurance, hopefully you won't ever need it.
Because when you do need it, you need it very very badly.

Seems like the same empty hand defense that u say won't work (in your other vid). Knife attack is intense, wild, all over the place - and he can use his free hand to assist - I've NEVER seen stuff like this work in sparring (with blunt tip but hard practice knife) - if I were to attack, it would be one (MAYBE two) quick slice at a time with my other hand assisting.

    • @MrDonkyr
      @MrDonkyr Год назад +2

I'm completely agree with you but you don't see techniques like this in sparings because this drills, arest techniques and secure the weapon techniques are changed and made for police, security officer and other professions like these. This techniques work good when there are at least two of you and your purpose is to catch alive the bad gay. If you are alone you need survival and killing techniques and never concentrate only on the armed hand because how you say there have one more hand and you don't know is there have second blade or you will take some punches(the bed things is the most of instructors don't explain this) 🙂✌

First I quickly measure the guy for a custom made coffin then I cut him with the exacto knife, then if he still twitches, I wack him with the hammer, but if his head swells too much I relieve the internal pressure and drill into his skull! Most bystanders think I'm helping him because I'm wearing a cap that sahys Volunteer Fire Depo.!
