Man, you’re a multi-talented dude! Good stuff! I’m glad you stated that you did not notice much difference in sound between the tubes. I thought it was just me, but maybe because I’m not a musician nor audiophile 😅
Thanks man I fixed it …it was a curved input jack on the back of the ext cab somehow not meeting the connection of the speaker cable enough . Once I unscrewed the jack a bit it was fine . It’s time to replace that curved jack plate
It's worth replacing the jack inputs and outputs every few years. My old 77 Gibson was really crackly due to a worn out jack. Switching it was an instant improvement.
Are the tubes only supposed to glow lightly when working properly? This is my first amplifier so forgive my lack of knowledge but I accidentally dropped it off the table and am afraid I damaged the tube but it does still dimly light up
I amp plugged into my cabinet and I can’t hear anything but static ….tube not glowing . Headphones into amp I hear sound . Is it the tube ? Checked all cables…
I'm not sure. I haven't really taken this amp apart yet as I haven't had any issues with it. If there is sound through the headphones I would assume it is not the tube unless the headphones somehow bypass the tube and the regular output jack does not. Like I said though I haven't torn mine apart to have that level of knowledge on it.
I would say not really. You can play low gain stuff at very reasonable volumes but it does get a bit loud at high gain. It is possible to dial in something reasonable. I think the micro dark has an effects loop and if you went high gain with that and had something that could back the volume down a bit in the effects loop it might be better.
You're gonna want to push the front end with a boost, od, or straight distortion. Without a pedal, with the gain maxed, you can turn the volume on a literal hair: I would consider that "TV volume" .. it's a great sounding amp y a million miles compared to the like of the frontman and other small combos. Have fun and enjoy!
I'm nearly certain that changing a pre amp tube does legitimately nada. So I was told and it seems to be the case as well in my experience first hand doing this. I put in a 50s RCA tube I pulled out of a very old amplifier/radio head unit. I still have a few...
That is a Fender Super Champ 1 x 12. I think the code is SC112. I bought it specifically to use with the Micro Terror, but is also have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III and wanted the additional 1x12 extension Cab for the HRD, but the real HRD extension cab is 3 times the price. The Super Champ 112 has the exact same speaker as the HRD III and the HRD extension Cab, it just has cheaper wood. The speaker in this is a Celestion G12P-80.
I could be the tube. I would try all the outputs first though. Is it just the speaker extension that doesn't work? Does the headphone jack also not provide any sound? I would also try switching cables around. If the tube is glowing it likely has power running though it.
Yes, i run it through a 1x12 and it can get pretty loud, I'm sure it is loud enough to work with drums. That said there may be situations where it might struggle. I would personally lean more towards the Micro Dark because it has the effects loop. You don't get much for tone controls on this thing, so adding some pedals in the effects loop may be something you would want. That said, if the Micro Terror has the sound you're looking for already then maybe no effects loop is fine.
@@DIYNorth cool thanks for the response! Yeah i’ve been eyeing both this one and the dark, but based on a comparison im leaning more towards this one. Its a shame only the micro dark comes with an effects loop
@@5ampo Pedals work great through it, you can boost the volume with pedals if you need to with no problems. Just don't use it with the speaker cab that was designed for it, but it works great with full sized cabs. It can get to loud for an apartment as is.
@@NinjaMatt2201 thanks for the reply! I ended up getting a pretty good deal on a tiny terror instead, and its just barely loud enough to keep up with the band through a 2x12!
The amp not really as you cant adjust bass middle and treble separately. The guitar is a squire version but it is a real tom delonge it does ok, but I plan to change the pick up out for a duncan invader this year and make it the same as the proper fender.
I'm not really sure. the only time that has happened to me was when I either plugged the guitar into the headphone jack on the amp instead of the input or the volume was off on the guitar. If every thing has been confirmed good I would look at the patch cords, and all the input jacks.

Sure is and guitar, speaker cables …..
I wonder what the original tube is …I sure wouldn’t mind seeing what tube might sound better …thanks for the video !!!

Yes they are supposed to warm up and should glow when working.
Ok thank you for your response, and a very helpful video

Thanks yeah it’s weird . The tube did used to glow a little when it was working . Does yours glow a little orange when you turn the gain way up ?
@@JonRayRunawayVealMusic only very little. Its nothing compared to my fender 40 watt
Hi! I have a question
I want to buy this amp along with the 1x8 orange cabinet.
Can I play high gain stuff at "television volume"?
I would say not really.

Do you think this amp would be loud enough for playing with a drummer for example through a 2x12?

I often just plug straight into the input. Certain things do sound better in the loop though. I've had the Micro Terror since 2017 its been good.

Swap the 12ax7 out for a 12au7 or a lighter level distorion you,ll have a totally different sound and way more volume.
I'll have to try a few more tube combinations in the future

Does this need to be biased?
I certainly didnt.
I'm under the impression that it does not need to be.
Ok just wondering i just picked one of these up at a pawn shop and figured it might be a good idea to get a new tube
Pre amp tubes do not get biased
I have the same exact amp played it switch guitars plugged in no sound whatsoever amp is on and tube is lit any suggestions? Thanks so much

From what I heard tubes don't change tone
There are definately other things that could have a larger impact. Such as a speaker change or buying an Eq.
Looks repairable
Yes
Mine is the dark.
How do you like the dark one other than the current issue?
Cheap? A 12ax7 is $40
Inflation is hitting everything.
Wait for a sale.
