      @@SoulStringChannel I'm an old bloke, so enjoy predominantly 70s hard rock, early metal, etc. I've always owned Fender amps, which have been great, but I recently had the opportunity to acquire the H&K cab, also a fairly neat, smallish package, and then decided first up to match with the Orange Terror, hoping to get a nice crunch straight out of the box, that was the thinking, and first impressions:
      1. the Terror is tiny, like you know it's going to be small, but nothing prepares you for holding it in the palm of your hand;
      2. and first time I plugged it in, at a pretty low level of volume, it was like what?? that's ridiculous (the sound was so incredible - and bloody loud)
      Of course, H&K have a nice range of micro amps, not to mention Vox and probably others, so now that I have the cab, I'm liking the idea of having a drawer full of micro amps! Cheers, Joey

    Love mine. A couple of things that are extremely minor annoyances - it's very light so pushing the jack plug in often requires holding the amp so it doesn't move, the input in the 'wrong' side as it is on the right where all my other amps are on the left. I have on many occasions plugged into the headphone jack (which is on the left) by accident and wondered why there is no output! It's a bit annoying having to plug in the external power supply. I've actually just bought a dc power supply to make an add on to the bottom of the amp so i can just plug in with a kettle lead. which hopefully will also make it heavier so it wont move when plugging in the jack. Other than that I love the sound. It's crazy loud, no problems rehearsing with my band. If you want a fx loop I think the micro dark has one and also a cab sim output. But it's a heavier sounding amp, more distortion rather than overdrive.

    • @SoulStringChannel

    Interesting video, answering a question that I had. The Micro Dark has an effects loop and the Terror Stamp also has an effects loop plus two volume channels. In terms if versatility, I don't think that's an issue so long as you like its particular sound. Sparks, Katanas and others provide a vast range of sounds, but once the right tone is found then I tend to just use that one tone. The issue would be if you don't like the Orange tone.

    A nice review - but of course it does not have 20watts of tube power. There is a preamp tube to give it the sound signature and a solid state amp to give the power. 20watts of tube

    Hey, thanks for the nice review! I use an american strat (SSS) and mostly play Blues and Rock but cleans are also important to me. I have a mustang micro but its distorted tones and lack of customization is a bit off-putting so I decided to get a better amp for that stuff. Do you think the Orange amp goes well with a strat? I always hear that fenders are really good with fender amps and that's why I am kind of worried that my sound would lack that Fender character with an Orange amp (such as the typical glassy fender cleans). I can get a Fender Mustang LT25 for cheaper but Orange looks like the better option to me with the cabinet. Please me know what you think :)

    • @SoulStringChannel
      @SoulStringChannel  Год назад +3

      Hey buddy! Firstly thanks so much for your message! Really appreciate it! I honestly think of you are a blues rock player this is a great amp! I have played it with a strat like yours and it sounds fantastic for those edge of breakup, slightly overdriven sounds. However I would just like to point out that in my opinion the clean sounds are quite different to the traditional fender cleans. There is not much headroom so it does distort quite quickly so if I understand your message well it may be a bit problematic if you are looking for that fender clean sound. To be honest it's not the most versatile amp, it just does that typical orange sound very well. It's a bit fuzzy and distorted so maybe you might find that the cleans sounds are not as useful for the blues sound you describe. It definitely goes great with a strat or Tele buf you need to be happy with a fairy limited clean sound (i.e. not as great as a fender for cleans) if you can try it out, cause it really is a major step up from most inexpensive amps. It definitely has more of a British sound to it rather than fender style but with a strat it totally rocks! Seriously let me know of you need More info cause I can demo it using a strat for you if you would find it useful! Let me know ! Thanks my friend 😊

      @@SoulStringChannel Thanks a lot for your detailed response :) I have actually went to a local store and tried the Micro Dark and it was too dark and muddy for me. I know there might be people who like that type of clean tone but not my cup of tea. Although Micro Terror might be less dark than the Micro "Dark" as the name suggests, still this was enough to make me move away from the Orange. So while researching for an alternative I came across Harley Benton TUBE15 Celestion, looked at some reviews (they were extremely positive) and after reading that some people see it as a cheap Fender Blues Junior alternative after playing both, I am now considering to go with that one.
      If you had the chance to try that one or could provide any comparison according to other videos, that would be nice. There may be other people who needs to decide between these 2 tube amps in a similar price range.

      That's great advice thanks buddy! Need to try it with a different tube ! Yeah agree re the tubes but I think it should be used mainly as a preamp and in that case it's wonderful!

    these micro's are killer! you can get that "Orange sound" without paying the same amount of money that you could buy a good used car with!

      Yes ! Absolutely they totally rock! Sometimes I don't understand why other amp companies don't learn from this!

      If you’re a fan of pedals consider the dark version, it has an effects loop

    • @SoulStringChannel
      @SoulStringChannel  Год назад +2

      Absolutely this is a great comment! I personally add a lot of the time based effects in post production, so for me the terror was fine, but if you run pedals Def go for the effects loop in the Dark! I have to say maybe the lack of the effects loop is the only minor downside of this amp!

    Put a vintage RCA BLACK PLATE 12AU7 in it and try it!!! True Plexi tones!!!

      @SoulStringChannel  Год назад +2

      That's interesting! Does it make a big difference? I'm always on the fence about swapping tubes on these kind of amps, does it actually change the sound in a noticeable way?

      @USSLIBERTYREMEMBERER Год назад

      @@SoulStringChannelIf anything, I’d imagine a 12au7 or 12at7 might be more useful. Less gain tends to translate into less noise and more headroom in starved plate circuits such as these. 12at7 might be a better start

    No tech will work on them or most complicated SS amps. I love mine, but it’s a landfill amp.

      Hey buddy! Thanks for your message! That's a good point, I guess it's always something to keep in mind! Do you also think cause techs think it's not worth it, as it's a relatively cheap amp?

    Why the flipped video? It's like, disorienting that all the text is backwards and you're playing guitar left-handed despite not being left-handed 😅

    Can i plug it straight into an interface without a speaker to record?

    • @SoulStringChannel
      @SoulStringChannel  Год назад

      Hey buddy! Thanks for the question! No unfortunately not. The amp just has a cab out, with no internal load, meaning that you will have to have a load box (like the two notes torpedo) to be able to plug it into your interface without blowing the who thing up 🫣 ! Honestly if it had that it would be killer! Cheers and let me know if you need anymore info!

    • @alfredorleans4441
      @alfredorleans4441 Год назад +1

      This amp uses a solid state power section. It can run safely with no load connected to the speaker out. I have used it this way.
      Using the headphone out, it will sound a bit wacky thanks to no cab emulation, but you can always add an IR using your daw of choice.
