    It's amazing what this little amp has done for my playing. It has single-handedly re-awakened my spirit for playing. I have fallen in love with tone again and decided to switch back to tube amps exclusively. This amp being so affordable has been a huge blessing. I traded in my Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watt Amp to buy this amp and small cabinet and have no regrets whatsoever.

    YES the Orange Micro Terror is waaayyy more than gig worthy! If it doesn't sound right then it's the player. Seriously this Amp is a no brainier! These things are a tremendous value!

      There is always a way.
      If your drummer listens, and works with the guitarist absolutely. If your not mic'd up and the drummer hits too hard for what your playing then not so much.

    these little guys have become my favorite guitar amps. The fact that it needs a decent cab to really hear what it can do speaks volumes. That 8" is like trying to wring out a Ferrari with bicycle tires on it.

    • @DucksDeLucks
      @DucksDeLucks 6 лет назад +2

      It sounds pretty good with the 8". The main problem with small speakers is the bass, but some famous recordings have been made using 6" speakers in the studio. E.g Derek and the Dominoes Layla. There's not a lot of bass in most lead guitar. An 8" should have no trouble with the low E string at moderate volume. Brown tone, no way!

    I just got my micro terror amp head, it was jaw dropping the kind of tone and volume you can get out this little giant, I am a professional guitarist and I do music for a living, when you have to carry around equipment 2 to 4 times a week you think on portability, this amp is just the tool I needed for what I do, amazing tone, volume to rock a venue when connected to the right cabinet and EASY to carry, yes great combination even on studio. Don't believe me?..... Try it and become a believer!!!!

      I have one with the little cab and it's really incredible sounding with both a Strat and a Gibson. I think the speaker with its paper grill is partly responsible for the tone so I would worry about swapping in just anything. An Orange 12 would be ideal but now we're talking $380 and a lot of weight. You can double up the little cabs, which would be lighter and cheaper and maybe enough for a small gig?

    Im a huge fan of these micro amps. Really lets you have fun with amps you always wanted in a way. Who needs 10 massive cabs in their house taking up room. At a certain point its just kinda stupid looking. These little amps are perfect if you wanna pour some coffee and sit back in the lazyboy with your axe and switch a head up to a different one of 10 you can actually afford on the table right next to you .

    I used this head for over a year with my Blackstar 2x12 cab in my hair metal tribute on dozens of gigs. We played 1200 seater venues and opened for LA Guns, Dokken and Winger using this head. If you have some hot pickups you can really get a cool tone and just enough gain for metal. I now use a Splawn head and use this as my back up. I still use the Orance Micro on smaller gigs.

    Got mine today. Sounded good through a Hiwatt 4X12. But after I've changed the preamp tube to a Tung-Sol 12AX7...my good lord. Even the internal distortion killed the neighbours (and had RICH HARMONICS AS WELL), but with a pedal...this little friend does it all. I've never seen another amp so good in this price category. It drives a 4X12 like a friggin boss. Don't even consider trying it with anything less. Love for first sight. Meant to be a backup until my 50 W all-tube monster-rectifier gets well, and I totally put my trust in it. And much more...

    This amp head is insane! Its smaller than my band mate's fender guitar lunch box and packs such a punch. I have it running through a 4x12 Bugera cab and it can compete in a four piece rock band. Best bang for the buck. I dont even run it at half volume and it screams. The tone is amazing too, very warm and full. Buy one if you dont have one.

    I'm using one of these through a nonspecialist 1x10 cab, playing for a panto this week. There's a song in the second half that requires a crunch sound, and to play QUIETLY enough not to drown out three other musicians - including drums - I have to use the following settings. 2 on the bridge pickup of a Gibson SG, drive about 3/4, but the volume just below 1 - yes, ONE! These things are INSANELY loud for their size, and the quality ridiculously good for £99!

Just sounds like i'm playing through a paper box... am I missing something? I do not recommend buying this, maybe I got a lemon amp, but it was bran new out of the box, no issues with it. That sucks. I played it through my 1960A last week, sounded fantastic. It handles pedals very well, too. It can get the sounds in the video exactly, which I find is a GREAT foundation for overdrive pedals and the like. This amp, through a 1960A with an '81 LP Custom (Suhr DA pickups) and a VFE Pale Horse overdrive. Sick tone, comparable to my modded '76 JMP.

      Dude, the normal terror and tiny terror aren't just practice amps, plenty of people use them for gigs, these aren't just "play at home amps" 20 watts would be enough trust me, go try one out and see. People gig with Blackstar HT-5 (5 watt) because it's so loud, I know the Orange would be like that too! :) Yeah the reason I don't have an orange is because of no reverb, once I get my hands on a reverb pedal I probably will buy some :)

    • @jokermaan1
      @jokermaan1 10 лет назад

      Sqeno I got one of these recently as a practice amp (with Orange's 1x8 cab) and it's great for that. A lot of people say that with a 4x12 it's 'gigable', but it seems a bit impractical to lug a huge cab and a tiny head (which is gonna look ridiculous!) when a small all-valve 15/20 combo like a Vox AC15/Blues Junior/Blackstar 20 is gonna be as 'big' and have surely better tones (especially clean). Only cost would be a factor perhaps. This head is cheap and a used 4x12 cab too I suppose. Otherwise it seems a bit pointless.

    These amps are brilliant. I traded my Vox Vt80 in for it. And am amazed how much better my tone is with a Micro Terror. Much love to Orange.

    this little amp pushes a 4x12 cabinet with ease its kind of hard to dial in but you can do it. its a great amp for the price. you can gig with it easily. hats off to orange. I do love my Orange Th30 dearly.

      Clayton Ray Does it cover a drum kit fine? I mean its 20 watts solid state. Does it cover a live gig?

    • @ClaytonMRay
      @ClaytonMRay 9 лет назад

      it does both fine bud, its only part solid state. it has a tube pre amp and like I said it will push a 4x12 cab, a lot of people use these live especially if you mic them up. I gigged mine for 4 shows and ended up getting a really good deal on a Orange TH30 so the micro terror got put back as a practice amp. I would not however buy the micro terror extension cab with it cause that 8" speaker sounds super cheap id go with a high end 10" or some sort of eminence or celestion 12". I took the cab straight back and got my money and bought a marshall vs 212 cab and ran it with that. sounded fantastic! hope this was helpful

    could this jam with a drummer?

    • @frozencons
      @frozencons 8 лет назад +2

      I'd say it depends on a couple of things. First, the speakers you're playing it through make a really big difference. I play mine through a 2 x 12 cabinet and it's plenty loud. I'm not sure that little 8" cabinet would do you much good in that regard. Second, it depends on the drummer. If you play with one of those guys who uses the small baseball bats for sticks, it might have some trouble keeping up.
      I use it as a backup for my main amp. There's no sense in not bring it along. It's miniature, it weighs nothing and it works great.

    • @JesusChrist-be9uz
      @JesusChrist-be9uz 8 лет назад +1

    • @yanava
      @yanava 9 лет назад +1

      FinderofNemo What I meant is that they need to put a lot of work into their playing to make it sound good. To me, a good amplifier must be effortless to use, which means my playing shouldn't need extra effort in picking or fingering to get a nice sound out of it.

      Andrew Forster A good guitar, plus good playing, a good cable plugged unto a good amp. You can't go wrong. Keep it simple.. Ya know. But that micro would be great in the home studio.

      @superwilk4280 9 лет назад +10

      +Moreno A. Hassem (MHA100) Dude what? Effort to get the right sound? Of course you have to put effort in and you need good technique and playing, because that guitar that you plug in to the amp is, funnily enough, played by you.

    the best demo i've seen about this amp so far

  • @blanezx3
    @blanezx3 11 лет назад

    It runs 4-16 ohms. At 4 ohms the protection circuit will turn on if you have the gain cranked and volume at more than 4. It means it's trying to push more than 20 watts and it will start cutting out to help protect the amp. If I have to practice with the volume and gain cranked, I simply unplug 2 speakers and run at 8ohms. It's still more than enough to keep up with a drummer nicknamed "Bam Bam".

      juancalunaes Given that it's a 20 watt amplifier, it isn't going to give you a crisp clean sound. It will have a little dirt, also Orange isn't really known for their clean sound. If you want a clean amplifier, buy a Fender.

    +1... I would recommend a Vox VT+ amp to any younger guy who is just starting to play out. The VT40+ goes to 60W and weighs about 20lbs. Great for bedroom play as well. Gives you a great palette of models to choose from and some decent on board FX. All programmable into 8 banks and footswitchable. I love the clean models they have. It also uses a 12ax7 as a push-pull PA. Outstanding design and the price is insane for what you get. Sounds way better than it's counterparts. Hugely under-rated amps

    You might think so but I own an Orange Micro Terror (20W) and an Orange OR15 (15W). The OR15 is MUCH louder through the same cab. The Micro Terror is solid state output stage, the OR15 is all valve.

    what I really love about orange - besides the awesome tone - is that especially there lunchbox-style amps are really simple. All these amps with the 20.000 knobs make you very focussed on getting the perfect tone. But these things sound amazing on almost every setting and they actually make you focus more on the playing. I love them! Especially my dark terror!

    The MT works well with 16, 8, or 4 ohms. However, if you run the volume and gain maxed at 4 ohms, the protection circuit will kick on because it will start to go past 20 watts.
