Micro dark sounds pretty good clean
Sounds pretty Fender clean doesn't it? Mid scoop
ikr, took me by surprise lmaoo
@@jackgreenwood1817 I know, I got one used just because of the clean tone! Found a good deal on that amp tho
I got one and its pretty impressive in all kind of situations (I still do prefer the clean from my Laney L5T though). I changed the preamp tube on mine with a koch 12AX7 (there was a JJ ECC83 originaly)
I dislike my micro dark. Waste of money for me. I got a better randall solid state amp for same price
the clean tones on the dark are seriously impressive
Micro Dark was my preference for all of the tones. Really impressive! And it’s cheap enough to pull the trigger no regrets. Think I’ll order one.
I agree, I just ordered one for myself.
Hello do You recomend it to play with a band?
Can you gig with it?
Agreed, but the advantage that the Stamp has is the two volume option - it's like a two channel amp.
I recently acquired the Terror Stamp, and it's really quite impressive! Last week I used it to push a Marshall 1960A 4x12" to record a 3 song demo, and the tones are stellar! It's surprisingly loud, and the shape knob is amazing and versatile! It can also be used as a preamp by using effects send to the front of another amp (I have a Marshall Origin 50) and the stacked tones of Orange+Marshall are exactly the flavor I've been looking for. For the price, the Terror Stamp is a must have. I have lots of gear, but nothing else is this portable and delivers like the Terror Stamp. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the British voice of Rock and Metal.
This is by far the most useful video I have ever seen on youtube. If I could have this level of product comparison every time I wanted to make a purchase I would have an even happier life.
we need to pass it into RUclips law
and your banker would hate you for buying even more gear! haha! :D
That was a great comparison, just ordered the Micro Terror without trying one and I do believe I will be happy!!!!
The cleans on the Micro Dark just sold that thing for me. Thanks for the demo!
Toby’s demo format is the best on RUclips. And DAMN those sound way too good to be that inexpensive!
Thank you so, SO, much for playing Chevelle! You're a legend. Micro Terror still my favourite.
Amazing demo and great production. I find myself coming back to this just to enjoy the tunes.
Wow. Possibly the best comparison video on youtube. Great production
Man that Micro Dark sounds good! The Stamp sounds like a mix between the Micro and Dark.
I agree!
I'd say the Stamp splits the difference. Not as shrill as the Micro, more clarity than the Dark.
Great video!!! Finally I get to hear the cab sim in the stamp vs dark...
Dude, your videos are freaking amazing. These sound great.
1000th upvote! This video was very informative and exactly what I was hoping to find as I consider a new amp. Thanks!
Wonderful job, as usual !
Great comparison, thank you for this!
Micro Dark really stood out for me. Subscribed based on the strength of this video alone. Bravo Sir!
It's so rare to find a guitar demo where you actually enjoy the playing, this is one of them
The piece demonstrating the cleans is really good and I can’t stop thinking about it lol
Great demo, nice job!
Well that solves that question. This was a super demo and thank you. I’ve been on the fence with them and the Dark Is what I want after watching. Thank you!
Great video that displays the differences in an easily understandable way
I'm impressed at how fat the Terror Stamp sounds! I think it's my favorite, followed narrowly by the Dark Terror.
Awesome as always
Nostalgia- New Found Glory! Great demo!
I've had a micro dark for 2 years. It has been amazing for cleans and metal. I love its versatility and can say it has all the beef you need.
Really like the way you’ve put this video together. Just get to it with no waffle. Good job.
Perfect review. Made me decide, thanks.
Love this video. Subscribed!
Great video! I was looking for a good mix settings comparison. You nailed it. Micro Dark it is.
I just realized that was the "My Friends Over You" riff, ah the nostalgia! Nonetheless, amazing shootout! I do like the consistency from the Micro Dark, however the stamp seems super handy to have, its a perfect in between.
very nice cleans.. didnt expect that.
Best comparison video. Thank you.
Great video, thank you!
Ordered a micro dark because of this video. Thanks!
Exactly the video we need. Thank you
Started out playing NFG. I’m sold.
Awesome video!!!
Great Demo... thx
Love your videos
GREAT RECORDING TONES!
This is a very good comparison video, good work sir. I got the dark and ordered a 1x12 Harley Benton cab with the V30 Celestion for a home practice setup. For about $300 it sounds amazing. To make it even better for metal/rock, throw a tube screamer in front.
Interesting! The terror stamp sounds fantastic in some sweet spots but definitely has some settings where it gets too much. Surprised how awesome the micro dark is!
God Damn those cleans!!! Sold!!!
Its awesome rewiev. Thanks a lot
Thx for the demo! I had a tiny Terror, thought it was decent but sold it because it was missing a bit more low end and sparkle that I wanted.,Now I know the other two models have it,especially the Dark Terror.
Best.Comparison.Video.Ever.
Don’t mind me, just timestamps for comparisons.
1:41 Terror Stamp
1:53 Micro Terror
2:05 Micro Dark
That stamp is insanely legit! And the micro dark sounds incredible!
Had the terror stamp for a month and just bought the dark and just sent the stamp back - the micro dark has a slight edge on all - from cleans to high gain and everything in between, including using as a preamp / headphones out.
Bought a micro dark today! 2 hours and I'm already in 🥰
Gotta say they all sound good but the micro dark sounds a little better in every test except maybe the flat eq where they sound about the same. Nice video, thanks for making it.
Nice video. 👌
Kudos for playing A wolf at the door :) I’m currently waiting on my Terror Stamp which I ordered two days ago. Looking for different flavors and applications than my Fender 65 PRRI and Strymon Iridium provide me. Might get a Micro Dark too after listening to this demo! They’re so affordable, like the price of a boutique overdrive. These are awesome times to be alive as a guitarist.
First impression: it’s great, especially for the price!
Headphone Out is nothing to write home about, but might have (creative) uses when unique tones are needed.
Line Out into external Cab Sim is a different story, though! Tested it with the Strymon Iridium as a „hardware cab loader“ (amps bypassed), and it sounds amazing with their included selection of IRs! I can get lovely saturated cleans with just the right amount of hair on them. Especially the IRs of the PUNCH section work really well! For some applications, I might prefer this setup to the Iridium standalone. It’s more complex, richer. Hard to pin down, I just find it nicer!
Hooked it up to the cab of my Princeton real quick. Nice tones, although a Celestion Gold or Creamback might be a nicer fit than the Jensen for my taste. Also sounds great with the volume backed down.
Anyway, thus far I’m pleased af!
The Micro Terror has a bump in the 900Hz to 1Hz area when compared to the other two, and that would make it cut through a band better in a live setting. That gives it a Marshally vibe, and Marshalls cut through mixes for that very reason.
Yeah the micro has that midrange punch but the dark has a fx loop so I wonder if that can be fixed by jumping it with a patch cable??? I had a hybrid crate that sounded amazing if you did that and if you didn’t it sounded like hot St. Louis trash
@@booitsnick or putting an eq pedal in the fx loop
Just ordered my micro dark on reverb I need it now!
Great comparison! Waiting for Marshall silver studio
I own the Micro Dark and it has to be the best $ to quality amp I’ve ever bought. As this shows, the cleans are wonderful, which I was not expecting. I play a lot of metal, so I put a tube screamer in front of it with the gain on the amp to 6 and it sounds MASSIVE. So good!
Great video... I think all the cleans sound great as you would expect from Orange. For dirty I’d rank them Dark > Stamp > Terror...
I have the micro dark terror, my first anything Orange gear wise and its THE best amp I own. If you have a lot of effect pedals upstream this amp is a must. While its not versatile as Vox or Fender...it will 100% carry the clean/heavy sounds a lot more. Solid demo showing how each model is different, my advice is if you have local effects and want a amp that can chug which at 8w is shockingly loud/smooth...BUY ORANGE! :)
The micro dark is so awesome, probably gonna get one
Didn't know I needed this video to help me decide. Micro Dark is the right way.
i have used the Micro Terror at home for many years, very happy with that. it's upgraded with a NOS RCA 12AT7 tube though, and running through an '80s Marshall 2x12. would definitely like a Micro Dark, it sounds great. the STAMP i don't really need, the cab sim output is nice but i wish it had a footswitch for the effects loop instead of volume.
The Micro Dark was miles ahead clean.Shocked me..it actually sounded really nice.I owned the Micro Terror about a year ago and honestly thought it sounded utter sh*t next to my Blackstar Ht5.Proves that good tone is down to the player and his understanding of the amp...they all sounded really good with your hands lol.
I have a micro terror pushing eminence drivers. Sounds amazing. I had a blackstar ht 20 studio with a mesa black shadow in it beside it when I hit it. I actually preferred the micro terror!! Versatile amp in my opinion. And I loved that blackstar!! It sounded amazing. It died unfortunately 😭😭
@@thejimmyrhoads the orange terror died? Or the blackstar?
I still prefer the others, the Dark sounds mushy, clean it is the best, but I hardly ever play clean, the best sounding one for me is the stamp, anyways stil undecided
That's exactly what blew me away although when whomever started playing Chevelle the stamp actually sounded better which was a little bizarre.
The Micro Dark is a deceptively good little amp. I’ve been looking for a good tube amp that had some variety and I think I found it. It also has great cleans! Total deal for me!
The Terror Stamp was my pick. That's impressive.
Wolf at the Door is such a good song man
Orange Micro Terror hace beautiful warm clean tones and great rock sound. Best all around
Just finished jamming with some friends using the Micro Terror as a bass amp. It's excellent for punk bass! Don't have any experience with the other two, but I imagine they'd be good for that as well
Just ordered the Stamp! According to Orange it's a Micro dark in another package with the gain tweaked a bit. Can't wait to try it out.
Feels good man!
Found the video helpfull. Micro dark for the cleans!
I own a Mirco Dark for years now, Great alternative to my other tube & SS amps for recording. Its a classic already, in my opinion.
Absolutely
The Dark is very impressive. Will be purchasing one in a week or two after watching many comparisons.
I really like the micro dark. Something about it is just so appealing.
Dude, I totally agree. I have one and the gain boosted with an overdrive is so satisfying on it. It is so satisfying that I might upgrade to a Dark Terror in the future.
@@ethandonston517 Whats it like boosting a clean sound from the amp with distortion and over drive pedals?
It's got some beef.
Awesome amps
really impress by Micro Dark sounds awesome
I quite like the micro darck has a beautiful sound especially in clean
Terror Stamp or Micro Dark. Can’t decide between a good midrange or scooped tone. I think the Terror Stamp would sound damn good with a boost to tighten up the bottom end.
I notice both the Terror Stamp and the Micro Dark provide more bass punch than the Micro Terror does. Personally I think I'd get the Micro Dark of all three, but the Terror Stamp sounds like a good pick as well. I was hoping the Micro Terror could stack up to both of these, and in many respects it does, but it lacks that bass OOMPH that sounds so good and pushes the other two over the top.
I use a micro dark and go into torpedo wall of sound for Poweramp and can emulation, sounds pretty good. Makes a nice alternative to software sims
I have a Terror Stamp arriving in a couple days. I wanted something small with an effects loop and was trying to decide between that and the Micro Dark Terror. This video is absolutely the best comparison I've seen between these little amps, especially the Stamp's overall range. It sounds great and looks to be as versatile as I thought based on other demos.
Thanks for reaffirming my decision. I have no doubts I made the right purchase.
so how was it?
Beautiful playing in the clean section btw. Orange micro dark for me.
Edit as of 12/27/21: Can confirm clean goodness. Surprising even though it’s more of a gain-y amp.
Very interesting video. It sounds like the Micro Dark has a different tone range. In this video it sound warmer and fatter more low-end, pretty tight. I have a Terror Stamp and it sounded initially very different than in this video, too much low mids and lack of clarity and sparkle. I think this was due to the cab I use (VOX 8inch). I however placed an EQ after the preamp in the effect loop, cut a bit of low mids, boost a bit the low end, cut the 1,4khz for the harshness, boost a bit the high end to have presence and sparkle. I ended up with a sound very close to the Micro Dark in this video, on both an ES 335 (Cherry dot) and a PRS (Standard 24). The tone knob is at 1 o'clock.
I think I'll order the Terror Stamp...it sounds really good and I'm always on the prowl for something compact and portable.
I have the Micro Dark and use it exclusively for practicing with headphones. With the gain at about 9 or 10 O'clock and the volume around 3, I'm getting the best cleans I've ever heard through headphones.
I have a Micro Terror... All I did was swap out the original tube for a JJ 12AX7 and it's FIRE!!!! I love the sounds of the Micro Dark and the ST/AMP!!!! I'll Get'em!!!!!
Love my Micro Terror! Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Cleans on the stamp DAMN! Micro Dark is well rounded
Naturally, my favorite is the one I don't have - the pedal one. Also, your clean on the Dark sounds better than the clean on my Dark. Also-also, I wish everyone would do videos this way. Just play the dadgum thing, like he does.
The output of these amps is insane. I use a Micro Dark, no FX, through a custom 1x10 cab with a Celestion Ten 30. In a small club setting, my acoustic-electric cuts through with no mic required.
the terror stamp is best for me, especially the cabim is awesome for recording. product size is awesome too.
Maybe the Micro Dark sounds the best on its own and its cleans sound great. But once you get the gain turned up, I think the Stamp and especially the Micro Terror will cut thru a band mix better. The Stamp is the most versatile and as someone else said, it's sort of a combination of the other 2. They all seem to have a "notch" at about 2 or 3 o'clock on the gain control range where there's a big jump in gain.
I hear My Friends Over You on the first few minutes. No dirty sound demos for headphone out?
Most impressive to me are the Terror Stamp and the Micro Dark.
wow, the stamp sounds the best
I have the Micro Dark and I had the Stamp, and in my opinion, they were similar enough for me to not keep the Stamp. the Stamp is great, it just didn't bring anything that the Dark already gave me. Big fan of all three, but, Love my Dark.
gig worthy,,,? foot pedals ?
@@chrisb48907 plenty of power/volume for gigging. It takes pedals really well and has an effects loop. Swap out the tube for a 12AU7 and the Micro Dark sounds like a clean Fender.
@@shieldss5150 thanks any overdrive pedal suggestions or setups?..i am a keep it simple kind a guy..haha a little clean and a lot of fuzz
@@chrisb48907 Same. I'm running a Les Paul > Dunlop 10 bad EQ > wah > T9 Tube screamer > EHX Canyon in and it sounds great. It is very responsive to your volume knob so I can usually keep my overdrive pedal on, set the volume low on the neck pickup for clean tones, turn on both pickups for dirty, and bridge for lead without having to change anything. The EQ can serve as a boost pedal, too.
The reeeeeeeed!
the stamp with AUX IN would be perrrfect
Dark, hands down. Better throughout the range of the tone knob. Better clean... Just Better!
Just ordered the stamp and found out it has a tube gain adjustment in it. I'm gonna work on it a bit and see what kind of clean tone I can get out of it.
Digging the New Found Glory
All in all which ever one you choose you won’t be disappointed just add a reverb pedal or effects with reverb
