  • Using Fillets in Sketcher can be tricky. If you do it in the wrong way, you loose your constarining. This video describes the problem and how to solve it easily.
    If you like my videos, i would appreciate a Tip....

    Great videos, as a beginner your methodology seems both clear and to suit freecad work flows very well, while maximising the parametric operation benefits. Have subscribed

    Another awesome tutorial!! I've been struggling with fillets just yesterday, wish I had seen this before I started. I'll gladly sponsor a beer my friend, keep 'em coming!

    First of all, thank you for this video; it made me understand why the fillets failed: as you said it, the dimension constraints are removed.
    Now to the point: I'm trying to do something similar, but with a triangle with two equal edges, which intersect on the X-Axis. horizontal distance of one of those edges is also know and it is constrained. After applying the fillet on those two edges, it got under constrained as expected because the dimension constraint got removed.
    So, I draw a rectangle that encapsulates the triangle, but then I constrained the arc to be tangent to the rectangle and it looks like I want, but it still shows "under constrained", so, I tried to add a radius constraint, but it is still failing.
    SInce RUclips doesn't allows me to post links here, I posted the question: "Under constrained filled, how to correct it?". If you could take a look, it would be great.

      For the interested: I solved this tanks to the FreeCAD forum, topic: "Under constrained filled, how to correct it?"
      The answer from TheMarkster, was what I used:
      "Add a construction mode point and constrain it both to the edge of the arc and to the edge of the axis line. Then constrain it to be 6.5mm from that other point horizontally. Note also the vertical constraint applied to the 2 arc endpoints to ensure they are symmetric with the axis line."
      This one also works, instead of the last vertical constraint, I added an equal constraint to the triangle edges.
      You can see the example on that thread and reproduce the steps to solve the problem.

    Thank you for that useful trick. Do you know if there is an addon to constrain several angels equally. The only way I can imagine in the Moment is making a construct line and use "parallel". Any easier solution?

    MMPH!! Would it have been so hard to add the option of changing the fillet radius by moving the centerpoint rather than the endpoints of the arch?

    Hi. Your videos are informative and quite useful. I have a small sketch that I would like your help on. I would gladly buy you a couple of beers, if you helped me develop it. How could we work this?

    so where is the problem with using fillets?

    • @hagei406
      @hagei406  5 лет назад +1

      You can read about the problem in the Forum. If you constrain your sketch the wong way, changing fillet radius will change line properties.
