    It also shows how to deal with :
    Lost Sketch orientations
    Erraneous STL´s with duplicates Points when Polar Patterns are in use.
    This and that Tricks in Part Design.

    Your tutorials are the best for FreeCad I found on web. Without them I would probably not start with FreeCad. I am total beginner in CAD design and I need only two afternoons for starting to design parts for refurbishing my old sailing boat. THANKS!!! Looking forward for next tutorials, especially for coming 0.19 version.

    You've got me FULLY CONSTRAINED to your excellent Free Cad tutorials, and I'm definitely buying you a beer. Cheers ! And a note to all the Free Cad newbies out there: If you get stuck and something is not working out like in the video, whatever you do - DO NOT GIVE UP!. Rewind and try again even 5 times. And If it's still not working out take a break, have some coffee, go for a walk, take a nap, whatever. Come back and try again in a fresh state of mind. Eventually it will work out !

    Albeit the bugs, FreeCAD still is a beautiful piece of software. I'm a newbie and the more I learn, the more I get amazed at the immense number of features it has. Thanks, Ha Gei, for showing them to us in such a clear way.
    I'm trying version 0.19, even if it's not the stable version, and I've found out that it doesn't have the problem with altering positions with offsets that you mentioned at 26:30. Thanks again and continue the great job.

I'm amazed at what can be done in this program but like all these things you've really got to play with it for a bit in order to understand what you don't know. Right now all you've done is give my a headache. I'll watch it again once I have the program. Thank you though for this video.

    Great tutorial. Trying to hang on😉
    At 25:55 there seems to be no way I can edit the “0,00 mm” and thus put in the reference to the sketch dimension. I cant’ delete or edit the digits and If I try to overwrite with other numbers I just change the wiew position accordingly. Same in edit sketch mode.
    The “F(x)” symbol in the field is greyed/inactive as well. What am I missing?
    Thanks😊

    Agreed when you say “... filled & chamfer ALWAYS in the last steps... “ BUT in this case: Why shouldn’t you draw it already in the sketch just before the revolution? I think thats a much better moment?

    • @hagei406
      @hagei406  5 лет назад +4

      Yes, of course , both are better done inside the sketch. But i wanted to show the functions as such in the video. Tutorials must sometimes contain uneccesary workflow elements to expose functionality.

  • @PL-VA

    Thanks for taking your time to walk through this example. On the last step (Sketch004) hy would the Edge Trim not work on the circle sides? The workspace just flashes and the circle remains. I can delete the horizontal lines inside the inner circle but not the parts of the inner circle. Same version as yours.

    • @hagei406
      @hagei406  4 года назад

      Try again, it may be the sequence of clicks that is the problem. Otherwise send me you file, i can look and then tell you what is wrong.

    • @PL-VA
      @PL-VA 4 года назад

      @@hagei406 Ohh I tried to click many times. I tried to reload the model etc. Nothing helped. But I did solve it - I removed the tangent constraint on the inner circle and that allowed me to trim the top part of the circle. I had to add a horizontal constraint to keep it at 3mm and to fully constraint the model. I have no clue why the tagent constraint would do that?

    Thank you very much for a great video. I have a question. When you complete a "formula editor" box, where do you find the required programming input? Is there a Freecad reference publication describing the correct sequence for doing that each time?

    • @hagei406
      @hagei406  3 года назад

      Well, in .18 you see all possible enries on 1st character input. In .19 this is unfortunately lost at present. I am not aware of a simple documentation about these things..especially due to the changes involved from 0.18 to 0.19 . You may have to ask in the Forum.

    18:43 weird, I always select: dot, line, dot to do the symmetrical constrain and it works (on 0.16 and 0.17 versions), when I tried as you mention dot, dot, line never works, just did some strange stuff instead.
    Edit: I just tried again, now works on both cases, on 0.17

    Very nice tuto! It seems to me that at this step: ruclips.net/video/H9qPMf3pxxo/видео.html there is no need for a tangent helping line to prevent the arc to go upper the structure. Just by fixing the center point of the arc on the center line (1 constraint) we ensure the arc to have the right position.

    About 24:40, Why not creat a sketch in the top "ring" and make pocket, so that you can control the depth

    • @hagei406
      @hagei406  5 лет назад +1

      Well, as usual, if you want to show a functionality,, in this case revolution, you may choose a not so obvious way. There are several possibilities. But the least good one is choose the top plane and create a sketch..this exposed a probability to step into a toponaming problem. My Tutorials try to show ways to avoid that.

  • @JustinDeane1979
    @JustinDeane1979 3 года назад

    view must be straight-on (top, side etc.) in order for symmetry constraint to work properly. Not working if view is 3/4.

  • @mrmax1984

    44:18 I got stuck here. FreeCAD 0.18 Rev 4 doesn't want to trim the two upper arcs of this inner circle. When I zoom in, it appears that the circle's edge is not actually touching the horizontal line. I found several mentions of this being a bug in FreeCAD. How are you getting around this?

    • @mrmax1984
      @mrmax1984 3 года назад

      I found one person who drew a box around the area where the circle and line touch. For some reason then FreeCAD allows me to cut away the pieces of the circle. I can delete the box afterward, and all is well.

    • @mrmax1984
      @mrmax1984 3 года назад

      Also, I had an extra degree of freedom after setting the 3mm vertical distance after the cutting. The two horizontal lines were 3mm from each other, but not fixed in vertical space. I had to set the horizontal distance between the two points inside the leftover inner circle to 10.35mm, which is what they were originally. After that my shape was fully constrained. Just a heads up to future viewers who may run into these issues with whatever version of FreeCAD they may be using.

    • @mrmax1984
      @mrmax1984 3 года назад

      46:01 in my version of FreeCAD, I had to set the fillet to 0.99mm. Using 1.0 resulted in a "Resulting Shape is Invalid" error.

If auto restraint is already activated toggle auto restraint off then on again and it should work. This tutorial should work if your sketch initially disappeared while creating a revolution.
