Glad you were smart enough to beat the scam! Also, this is why I highly recommend people to ask for some kind of time stamp with the pop to add some extra proof that it’s actually in their hands & always be cautious with purchases. Make sure you have protection incase anything ever goes wrong. 😊

Never been scammed for a pop but I did get scammed for some Smackdown tickets and the way that person acted in your situation reminded me of the same bastard in mine. Learned my lesson tho and definitely has helped me in collecting pops. Great video tho man. Glad you didn’t get screwed.

When dealing with buying in-hand collectables, hand written time stamps with the persons name a date is always needed in my opinion, then you can know if they actually have it and you can check if it's fake or not.
Also closest I got to getting scammed (not bragging, I tend to buy from stores I trust for this reason, only ever made 2 Facebook purchases and a handful of eBay ones on pops way too new or too cheap to be fakes) was someone in a group who was refusing to do good and services for a Wynonna earp chase. I see 1 red flag and I don't have time to deal with more.

Lucky for me I found a super mint Law for $50 about 3 years ago. Can’t believe I thought $50 was a lot back in the day. I was like 4 months into collecting as well.
Thank God for PayPal and eBay customer service. My daughter brought me a young Carl and Ellie 2 pack for Christmas last year only to suspect it was a fake when it arrived. Not sure how much the seller actually charged for it, but she challenged it's authenticity and was supported by PayPal and eBay and her money was returned to her account. In the end she paid £20 because she knew I really wanted it.
I am glad i was able to pick a 7/10 damaged one for 100 euros. And it was legit because i ask the seler to send a photo with the paper with that days date, and we acepted paypal goods and services. For those interested in this kind of deals this trick with the date and first name on a paper next to the pop clears the problem of seller that use photos form other adds.

Oh man this makes me very nervous. I recently got into the funky pop scene and I bought a DC super heroes Blue Chrome Batman #144 for about $260 and at the time most where going for over 300 or something like this. I'm definitely going to have to get it authenticated asap
Ive been almost scammed on Mecari 3 times saying that they dont do anything outside Mecari and their card keeps getting denied multiple times. So this person says I needed to "activate" my account. He then wanted me to put $100 on a Vanilla prepaid card and send it to this skwtchy mecari email! PSA this please!!!!! Luckily I found about this "Vanilla Prepaid Card Scam" early before I made the transaction but I want people to be aware of this and I shall no longer be using Mecari!
Unfortunately I've had similar issues 3 times. 1st was buying a fake pop at a big comic convention, was trying to double up on a pop which I already had but when I compared them it was a fake (Only paid retail) 2nd was buying upside down spider-man on Facebook marketplace the guy shipped it in a satchel and came damaged so I was able to get my money back. The lastest one was different and expensive. The fugitive toys Spider-man pop was real but it was placed in a regular Spider-Man box with a replacement sticker. It's my fault for not realising the sticker was a fake as I was making sure the pop was real and with the Funko app and ppg both had various release dates it was only after receiving the pop and getting in contact with Fugitive Toys for confirmation that I was able to confirm the box was switched with a replacement sticker.
You already know I don't mind helping out on authenticating as well, every pop has its own unique tell it sucks tbh all the research involved. Anime and horror I feel are the most common replicas you will find. You know I can relate, I hate it as well always someone trying to get over on someone else just to make a buck, and please to who all that read this watch for sticker swaps I see it everyday on Mercari (example)Sage Mode Naruto date stamp should be OG 2016, 2017, and 2019 if u want a true GameStop exclusive.. I was scammed by someone from China - fortunately, it was only $29 plus shipping. Since then, I only buy grails through the WhatNot app and have them hand verify the Pop. The $7.50 cost for this service is cheap insurance against getting scammed again. Fool me once: shame on you. Fool me twice: NOT in this lifetime.

@Warlock Don't worry they are actually official as the modern One Piece Funko pops don't have the Shonen Jump on the top . They just have the One Piece logo.

Somebody tried to scam me but not on a Funko pop on a hot toys.I was on the hunt for a superman 1978 Christopher reeves and i found it for 399$ and normally that figure was selling between 600$ to 900$ first red flag.Just like your story the guy ad legit pictures and said that the reason of the low price was because he lost is job and was in need of money.I decide to buy it anyway.The guy was probably the most stupid scammer on earth because he ad paypal and i paid him with paypal.Once the package arrive it was not a Hot toys not even a superman 1978 it was a fake copy called a crazy toys of a superman with a random face sculpt.I contated paypal with all the proof and the pictures i got a refund.
