Matt, “Topher” here. You are my number one go to golf RUclips inspiration! Without your help, advise and direction (and birthday video!!!) I really wouldn’t be playing golf, or even getting on the green with my wife 😉 Seriously Matt, you helped me find golf and that has saved my life, as my own mental well-being was poor. I owe you a lot and would love to meet you some day to thank you personally!! Please keep doing what you are doing 1. Making RUclips content 2. Rocking your charisma and style on the course 3. Making me and others have hope and drive to improve. You are a legend for me of this game and with out you, I would not be part of this game too. Thank you Matt
Damn, that Golfholics video would have been EPIC. Golfholics smooth video videography style with the playa in chiefs knowledge bombs would have broken golf youtube
Yeah, even in Canada the game has taken off to be like what I call the 'Tiger Years' where he was new and everyone was playing golf. It was tough tee times and they crowded them in like crazy. I hate that pressure too, even if I just see the Marshall (even if he doesn't say anything) it puts me off cuz I lose focus thinking "why is he here?". Love the description, 'He thought he was a REAL US Marshall"!!! Great round baus, almost time here in Canada to come out of our golf cocoon.
I feel you, it's almost back to the point where you want to play at your local scrub course because all the nice courses are constantly full booked every weekend
I enjoy your videos. Your swing is so relaxed and the only thing I notice is you typically miss right. That’s similar to most of us amateurs. Your driving is getting better. Keep the fun playas coming.
Glad you got better Playa! Just keep doing what your doing and we'll see you again here in the US. But on the next trip stop by Maui, or any island, and play there before heading to the mainland. Now that is some relaxing golf, especially the small local courses!
Randomly ran into another playa out of town. Played for the the first time in a while this weekend. Was back in my hometown, 4 hours from where I live now (to meet Dr. Jordan Peterson at an event) Hung back from the 4 some after teeing off to play alone, also had a dispute with the Marshall. I like to play alone when coming back from hiatuses- practice. Ran into an older gentlemen on hole 10. Tried to let him play through. He insisted we play together. Around hole 16 I asked what RUclips golf he watched(he mentioned earlier), and the first mention was Golf sidekick. I said no way, I watch all Matt’s videos. He was decked out in WhataPlaya gear. Small world. I played terrible, but it was a great time. Relaxing.
Matt- I always look forward to your videos! You’ve inspired me to 1. Use a 7 Wood 2. Break 100 and 90 (only once) by playing smarter 3. Drop toxic playing partner who tells you what you’re doing wrong every shot! 4. Start a RUclips channel! I’ve ALMOST been inspired to wear a bucket hat, but I’m not quite there yet…Thanks Playa!
@@prebengjestang4636 no those are great partners! It’s the guy who is always telling me to change my grip, stance, aim, tee height, etc. The guy who tells me everything I’m doing wrong then slices his tee shot into the woods and somehow he still winds up with Par! But mostly he’s toxic because he ruins my golf experience.
@@ivantheterriblegolfer have you said that to them? cause thats not toxic, they are trying to help. The toxic thing is you not being able to tell people how you feel and then proceeding to blame them for something they genuinely think is helping. @@tilled6695 Everyone thinks they are experts in golf. As Harvey Pennick say, "The golf ball doesn't lie". I make it a habit to never give advice on a golf course. If I like your swing, I'll ask you for advice.
"forget that one its a Nike. Nike sucks." Laughed out loud at that one, sounds exactly like something I would say when finding a ball. My old playing buddy would ask if I didn't like that one when I would throw it back in the woods lol.
I played a course in Campeche, Yucatan Mexico last week and we were the only players on course. It was 36 and humid and we took our time... no Marshall's...just Estevan who stayed close to the crazy gringos and kept them hydrated...

Conveyer belt is a good description. It seems like after the lockdowns in 2020 everybody and their brother picked up the game. In the prime season they are going as little as 5 minutes between tee times. It makes for some very crowded courses, and causes people to whine to the marshall about the group in front of them, while the group in front of them is waiting on the group in front of them, and so on. lol
There are two things that make a round suck: Over zealous marshals and the group playing behind you thinking you are the slow one when they aren't aware of the slow group ahead of you so they give you shit about it or hit into you. Have some awareness you donkeys.
Matt glad you enjoyed Arizona hope you get back soon…..Side note the marshals are the worst at courses like Dobson Ranch. Full on goat tracks the think are Augusta.
I’m pretty excited. I’ve committed to selling my driver I’ve never gotten along with. I probably won’t have a new one prior to my game Saturday, so way of the playa will be in full effect! Thanks chief.
Conveyor belt is pretty accurate. Some places do it alright and you never feel rushed or constantly waiting (RTJ courses in Alabama), but most courses around Atlanta you're constantly hurried just to end up waiting on your next shot anyways.
@@OffBrandGolf depending how far north you're willing to drive, I'd suggest Achasta, Old Toccoa Farm, or Barnsley Gardens. If you're looking closer in, they're going to be more crowded, but Governors Towne Club, Woodmont, Echelon, Bears Best, or Chateau Elan.

I’ve never wondered why people complain so much about slow play. Crack a beer, fire up a smoke and enjoy yourself. I actually enjoy waiting on a tee box and playing at a relaxed pace. If marshalls have a problem with slow play all the time the issue is usually them overbooking the tee times, not the playas.
