  • In this episode, join me for one of the classroom periods of instruction from the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School on how to use stabilitrak, traction control, and launch control. This applies to most C7s. This school is located at Spring Mountain Resort in Pahrump, NV and is the premiere Corvette driving school in the country.

    This video 4years old and just seeing this. Launch control. I had a 2015 auto Z06 . No problem . What a blast. Now I have a 2016 manual Z06. Tried several launches. Scary, the rear end is all over the place. Almost lost it. Comments, thanks.

    Great video! I learned most of this just from trying things out with my GS but now I have confirmation on what I thought knew.

    Informative, but what happens when you go to Track Mode and don't double click to go into the different sub modes. What is the default track mode? Is it equivalent to Dry or Sport 1?

    Great video D! I enjoyed seeing a perspective from inside the classroom. Thanks! Did you try out the PTM modes on track? If so, did you notice a difference?

    Okay, I'm back. Listening to the class room lecture, I kept thinking it might be easier to learn how to fly the Shuttle.😉 I've heard the use of the word "Nannies" many times. Sorry, I don't get out much😖, so what does this word actually mean, or intended to mean? I'm guessing an owner can still turn of every single traction control/stabilization control etc. to effectively return a C7 back into C2 or C3 Vette? Speaking of the Vette of yesteryear, C2 and C3, back in the day we did, or would attempt to do, a power shift which I think today is referred to as a "no-lift shift." Can you do such a shift and the C7 and if so, did the school instruct you in performing same?
    Great upload D. Thanks for sharing. Save the Wave.🙋‍♂️

      Nannies are the assist features of the car where the computer steps in. Yes..you can turn every assist feature off and you'd be on your own. With the car like the ZR1 that may be reserved for the track rats of the Randy Probst's of the world. If I'm not mistaken you can "no lift shift" in the C7. You will just need to be at a certain RPM to do so. The school however did not discuss that whatsoever. Thanks for the comment as always good sir and hope the family and the doggies are doing well.👍

      "Nannies," ohhhhhhhh, I get it. 🤦‍♂️Baby 🚼 Sitters! So why are the computers just not called BABYSITTERS!? What's next? Calling them Au Pairs? Oh wait, rumor has it that in the C8's that's what they'll be called. Back in the day, we didn't have no frigg'n "Nannies" and we learned from the School of Explosions. 💣's After one 350CI LT-1 engine, one Muncie M22 4-speed grenaded and a 4:11 Posi rear's Ring and Pinion gears looked like a fragmentation bomb, I learned all about Power Shifting! But hey, I did trophy in my class that day. Most expensive 💰 trophy I ever won.🏆🤤
      Thank you for asking. All's well up here in the Ice Box, now that I'm done plowing yesterday's 5" of snow. The Herd,🐕🐕🐕🐕, is still outside frolicking and making Snow Dog Angels. Hope all is well with you and yours as well. Stay safe my friend, and don't leave home without your "Nannies" turned on.😏

    I have a 2017 GS M7 and I think I got it to work once when I first got the car, but now it’s not working even after watching this video several times.
    I stop on a straight away with wheels straight. The car is in neutral and my foot is on brake. I select Track and than a PTM mode. I than place the car in first gear and take my foot off break and mash the gas hard. It keeps shooting up to redline and not to that 4K spot
    Am I missing something?

    • @243wayne1
      @243wayne1 3 месяца назад

      Yes. You needn't put your foot on the brake in an M7. Only auto Corvettes. In M7 one selects launch control, depresses the clutch fully, mats the throttle, lets the revs settle down, then releases the clutch quickly. Class dismissed.
