6 days into ownership of my new c7. Thanks for the clear tips! Quite a high learning curve from my base model jetta!
If you're not first, you're last!
Cool congrats! Definitely check out more great C7 videos on the channel!
Just bought one with the Z51 package. So much stuff to learn! Much more advanced than my old F Body Z28
For sure, congrats!!!
Bought my first corvette yesterday. 2014 C7 3LT coupe. Your video helped a lot. Better than reading the manual. Drove home on E didn’t know what all the driving modes were. Friend of mine has a 2019 grand sport.
Oh nice congrats! You will love the C7 videos on the channel.
Really helpful video man! Extremely clear and detailed explanation of an otherwise very overwhelming list of options with the mag ride!
Thanks man & hope you check out more C7 videos on the channel!
Many thanks. The past few months I have been running mine by holding the button down and did not realize I can run with TC off and leave SC on. I really like the way the car feels with everything off and enjoy using old school lift your foot off the pedal TC/SC control, makes me feel more connected to the car and increases the intensity. I will start running in Sport 1 and see if that is enough to give me that old school muscle car feel as it would be safer.
+Gregory Guru Sure thing! I usually just run with TC off on street. Just 1 tap of the button on go.
Thanks. Just bought a 14 c7 z51 :)
Congrats! You will love my channel then!
Great video, bud. I agree with your assessment on turning everything off.
+Eddy Joe Thanks!
Thanks so much for your explanation. I have had my C7Z for 5000 miles and have been ripping on it quite often over that time. However, the last 100 miles I have been noticing the traction control system is being triggered when I downshift and dump the throttle. This makes the car lag for about two full seconds until the traction control system turns off. It's very frustrating as I have lost a race already because my car would not accelerate. Haha.
I am going to try Sport mode with traction control off. Then maybe Track/Sport 1 mode and see if I can find something that works. I just find it strange all of a sudden my car has this issue.
Yeah your rear tires are probably getting worn lol. But trac control off will definitely solve your issue. Thanks for watching & hope you check out more C7 videos on the channel!
Bro same exact thing happened to me last week. Car fell on its face, once I went I to next gear, and sounded like it cut power or spun tires, but I have MT radials now. I put it in sport mode and traction button 1x and it's working ALOT BETTER. BTW I'm at 830whp with a Magnuson2650.
Thanks I was trying to figure this out on my vette
Thanks for watching and hope you check out more C7 videos on the channel!
I just bought a 2015 stingray so the best mode would be track and for the traction control make sure both of them are off and it’s in race and that will be the best mode to do burnouts
Can you hit the break and the gas at the same time? I know some of the modes will not let you do that so you can’t do a big burn out.
Yea you can hit gas and brake at same time and do rolling burnout. ruclips.net/video/NhScDMQviH0/видео.html
Great explanation- thank you
Thanks for watching and hope you check out more C7 videos on the channel!
Wow, so much good info. Thanks.

Any warranty worries with turning the whole system off? Is Chevy watching us? They do say specifically in the manual not to turn it off and use hard acceleration or braking. In every RWD car I've owned, turning the TCS off was a morning ritual. I hate traction control.
+Don Gress No warranty issues turning it off. TCS is way too aggressive if you leave it on.
Don Gress Dad
So you mentioned that the touring mode suspension is softer. So if I put it in eco mode, is it the exact same suspension and traction as touring. I normally run in eco mode all the time unless I'm in the twisties and then I put it into sport or track. I don't notice too much difference between sport and track so maybe you could educate me on that as well please. Thanks
The suspension only changes if you have mag ride but yes eco is same as touring. Track is stiffest while Sport is in between. Hope you check out tons more C7 videos on the channel!
@@CarGuy11 Thank you I will
Does the "Steering" make the suspension stiff also if you select track? Right now I have exhaust set to track, steering set auto so the "mode I select from the dial will change my steering/suspension on the fly for me correct if I don't always want to be in tour or track steering?
I think Track mode overrides the steering to Track as well.
@@CarGuy11 Good to know thanks. I put the exhaust to sport (still open same as track dealer told me) and mode to auto select so if I want stiff or loose steering it will be from the mode selector only. Exhaust sound will always be open.
Great explanation!!
its different for Z06?
Thanks! No it’s the same.
which one i'm using to drift ? :D
informative, but what happens when you go to Track Mode and don't double click to go into the different sub-modes. What is the default track mode? Is it equivalent to Dry or Sport 1?
No Track mode is still full stability control so no drifting lol.
@@CarGuy11 gotcha, so more like Wet? If comparing Sport vs track's traction control + stability, the OM says Track has different settings so "more sideways" as the traction control and stability is less obtrusive than sport Mode, but I guess you are saying it's still nowhere near Dry or Sport 1's Track submodes. Trying to compare Sport vs Track vs Track submode Sport 1.
Correct it may let tires spin a bit more before kicking in but won’t let you get tail out. My everyday driving setting is 1 press to turn off traction control. This also lets you slide out tail to Sport 1 level.
@@CarGuy11 ok, so for normal daily, but tail-happy fun, Sport Mode, and turn off traction control?
Oh ok thx l be getting my c7 soon 🤘🏽🔥
Nice hope you check out tons more C7 videos on the channel!
Hey sir .. I have the Grandsport 2018 . Do I have the magnetic drive controle ? I can’t get the display because stability controle light is on .
Yes GS comes standard with it.
Thanks for posting brother.
No problem & hope you check out more C7 videos on channel!
bossman wow I love you car I can't believe you fix it for us I'm not kidding other people had us thinking that something needs to be reset like a car computer timer or something wen they did our recall thanks again I'm still setting in our first vett
Turning those two off can spell disaster. I never touch those on my z06 since it already has 900hp. I personally call it a suicide mode.
Well in that case yes lol.
Sounds like you have 900hp and a pussy to use it 🤦🏻♂️
Hi I have a z06 but I can’t get my car into accessory mode like yours and can’t fully take of my traction control by holding the button down ? Any help
For accessory mode press on hold start button for about 10s. For Full Off press and hold TC button for about 10s.
When you are at the sport 1, sport 2, race screen in PTM track mode, you need to press once to pick sport1 etc right? or just leave it and it will pick that one. Also how do you check which one you are in, just press the button twice again?
this is exactly the right question for what we still are awaiting answer 😮
Just leave the dial to select it. Turn dial again to change it without pressing button.
@@CarGuy11 wow I don't know anything else where you go/hover into it and not click it to actually select it, can you say bad design? it sounds like something made in china. So what happens when you click it instead of just do nothing to let it select it? does it cancel PTM and goes to tour mode or whatever?!
@@okaythen001 Yep it cancels it. Tc & stability lights turn off.
Can you preform launch control with just traction control mode off and stability traction mode on- or do they both need to be off ? Thanks
They have to be on in Comp Mode or PTM Mode. ruclips.net/video/STQ59J9jhQM/видео.html
CarGuy11
I understood it needs to be in track mode, just wasn’t sure if it would work with just 1 button push (traction control off)
Rather than 2 button push
(traction control off and stability control off)
Thanks
Nope. But beware of using it anyway if you have a manual. ruclips.net/video/bXGrrG9yOGI/видео.html&t
Did you unlock the C8's secret go-fast settings?
For drag racing, activate the performance display, then press > (1x), press traction control button (2x), select "Sport-2 ESC off," press and hold brake pedal, press on throttle pedal, and hold. When "go-time," release brake pedal, and hang on. You should get sub-3 second 0-60 mph times. Sport-2 is better for hard launches (drag racing), and Race is better for use on a track (oval or road course).
This is for C7 man.
@@CarGuy11 Just pulled the launch info from several C8 videos (to confirm and verify information), showing those exact steps, and the performance results.
im a noobie so please bare with me, when you say sport mode "tightens the suspension" and touring mode "loosens the suspension" what the hell does that mean lol?
Suspension is firmer in Sport mode and softer in Touring.
@@CarGuy11 but what does that mean tho? What is a “firm suspension” and what is a “soft suspension”? What perceived differences with the driver experiencing when switching between touring and sport mode?
You should change your default settings so the center gauge follows the driving mode - there are three different layouts with Sport and Track having differnt gauge setups than Weather, Eco and Touring.
I know but like the Sport Display best.
I just figured it makes a better demo video if people can also see the other display modes.
I made a video on displays as well. ruclips.net/video/wqBN_4hPvfg/видео.html
I can’t get my traction control fully off I can’t get the one on the left to pop up I hold it and dosent pop nothing up at all
Hmm try it in Sport or Track driving mode. Press and hold about 10s the tc button until you see it turn off.
@@CarGuy11 I’ve tried that as well when I hold it down for 10 seconds it just turns my traction control back on
Thx
Welcome, thanks for watching!
For the suspension to change with the mode you need the Magnetic Shock Suspension which in an option on the base Stingray or Z51 by adding the FE4 option. its not standard until you go with the Grand Sport. Its seems to be a waste to have the FE4 on the Z51, better to have the FE4 on the base Stingray for price of the option but the Z51 gets you bigger brakes up front, the dry sump oil system and the electronic limited slip differential if you really need them. You can have the dealer install the larger brakes on a base model for about $2.5k if that is all you need see page 201 of the owners manual.

Yes GS best value but wasn’t available when I bought mine.
How do you get it to show the whole tach needle?
It’s an option in the performance menu on dash. ruclips.net/video/wqBN_4hPvfg/видео.html
Thanks for the info.
No problem & hope you check out more C7 videos on channel!
@@CarGuy11 Question for you please - when in the PTM section, [3:07]on the instrument panel, if I want to select one of the modes (DRY for example), do I then press the round middle button on the Mode Selector to engage it?
No just leave it on the highlighted one to select.
@@CarGuy11 Thanks!
Doesn’t work
2016 stingray (non z51)
Manual trans
Press T/c button once T/c light comes “on”
Press and hold turns the light back off
Tried it car off and on
And in acc
Press button twice slowly to get Competition Mode. You won’t have all the PTM modes. Also make sure you’re in Track Drive mode.
bossman after they did my recall my screen won't change like it us to wen you turn sport, track mod the screen change, took it back to dealer they said it was normal or have salesman reset controls we have 2016 z06 brought new thinks carguy11
+Leafy Watson Go to dash menu settings and select link to Drive Mode.
But which one is better for drag racing?
For drag I recommend Tour Mode (for weight transfer to rear) with Traction Control off for burnout and can leave Stability Control on since you want to stay straight.
I have a manual so not sure what the auto guys are doing.
Gotcha, I have a ZO6 with the A8 and have tried all modes and Brake Torqueing vs. Launch Control and so far Track / Sport 1 with Launch control has yielded the best 0-60 (3.3 s) on the street on MPSSs.
The manual and auto Vettes have Launch Control. You basically get to the mode, press the brake (and clutch if manual) floor the gas - it will rev up and settle down well below redline, and then away you go.
The Vettes also have NLS (No Lift Shift) in the manuals - to use that after you've launched and run to the top of, say, 1st gear, you leave your throttle foot planted (the computer will keep the RPMs from bouncing off the rev limiter) while you bang the clutch and switch to 2nd and let up. Result faster acceleration and less interruption of torque application between gears.
I wouldn't use launch control with manual... ruclips.net/video/bXGrrG9yOGI/видео.html
Thank you!
Your welcome!
I hope you don't still have low mileage on that C7.
Haha I think that was like 8 years ago. Have 45k miles now.
That explains why my car wouldn’t swing
Glad it helped & hope you check out more C7 videos on the channel!
