- A longtime City Hall historian gave KPIX 5 an exclusive tour that retraced Dan White's steps on the day of the Moscone-Milk assassinations in 1978. Melissa Caen reports on the 40th anniversary of the infamous murders. (11-27-2018)
GARY! OVER HERE AND QUIET! Reminds me of my middle school history teacher.
It wasn't a "potato store". It was a fast food stand called The Hot Potato, which served baked potatoes with many types of toppings.
Such a sad memory in such a beautiful building.
@Saint Augustine I have always loved that building. The architecture is the best I've ever seen. The inside is just as exquisite. Thank you for sharing that fact about your grandfather. His work is amazing. I cannot wait to return to SF and see it up close again.
I think she's mistaken regarding the supervisor's offices, I was in that building in 2016 and the man who currently occupied Harvey's former office showed me where it was .. they looked just like they did in the film... Add in the news footage I've seen from the time... She's too busy trying to be a psychiatrist instead of a tour guide
good god that last sentence was spot on. I wanted to scream "JUST WALK ME THROUGH WHAT HAPPENED. STOP PSYCHOANALYZING EVERYTHING!"
I was actually getting lost at what point we were at certain spots. Just tell me he walked through these doors and not a 4 minute discussion on why he chose them because of childhood trauma or some shit.
It’s nothing that wasn’t uncovered during the time that this happened.
She's not correct. Harvey wasn't shot at his desk, he was shot in Dan White's office.
You're right. This lady's memory is playing her false. 🤔
Thank you for your service ma’am. I love you.
Very good video
He resigned and then wanted his job back. This is a man that had the twinkies defense. Everything was Dan Whites fault.
He wasn't convicted of murder but of manslaughter because they believed the defense that he had been unhinged by mental illness by recent stresses. The 2 counts of manslaughter meant he couldn't be imprisoned for more than 8 years. The argument was that he had not premeditated the murders. Many gay people rioted after the verdict because they believed the defense was bogus and that the killings were premeditated murders.
She is one of our city's treasures!
Sadly, very poorly edited. The sequence of events and locations are murky.
Not really. Wikipedia gives a good account of the timeline of the crimes.
@@patriciahayes2664 Wikipedia may very well give a good account of the timeline-regardless, THIS ViDEO is poorly edited and the locations are murky.
She is certified Frisco legend
That news reporter seems annoying....
Especially her repeated snickering over him opening a potato shop at Pier 39
She can be annoying all day long as long as she brings those sweater puppets
Also, the lady's name is Ellen Schumer, not Emma Schumer.
White could've gotten back to working as a cop or a foreman. He really had no business being a supervisor.
Worse case of suicide I've ever heard of
why did Dan White do the deed? it wasn't because of prejudice.
Nitro Express
He was angry that Mascone would not give him his job back and murdered Milk because he believed he had something to do with Mascone’s decision.
@@Ian-tu2fk White murdered Milk because he talked Mascone into denying White his position back.
@@Ian-tu2fk Not true.
@@Ian-tu2fk come on you can't seriously believe that to be the story?
He was forced out of his office and wasn't reinstated. It's really a workplace shooting before a political assassination.
Damnit gary
I think this woman has had one too many potatoes…..
Is she giving a tour of the building or the assignations? Or both? Glad she got out of the house.
A boob...literally!!
assignations?? lol. You mean Assassinations?
assignations
My favorite docent 😊
Only McDonalds will hire you back....
What so funny about potato store? Milk owned camera shop. Dan should have stayed in the Hall and become a millionaire as Dianne Feinstein.
Exactly...reporter snickering about that was beyond irritating
The interviewer is so dam insensitive
He wanted to shoot Willie Brown too - talk about a failure.
Awful to watch
Man , what a smokin bod on that reporter !
I second that damn!
Looks like a lot of room in there for homeless migrants
These killing were related to the Jim Jones Jonestown massacre.
Nope..was there...and the most disgusting thing i have ever seen was was FEINSTEIN USING HER FINGERS TO SCRAMBLE HARVEYS BRAINS WITH HER FINGERS....SHE MADE SURE HE DIED..
No relation at all. These were two separate incidents
Jay P But what’s incredible is that many of the principals involved were connected. Just a tragic, awful, yet fascinating piece of history.
@@agustasister5624 Wow, Can you expand on this? What do you mean?
@@agustasister5624 were you actually there? In what capacity did you see this? I feel something is wrong with the story and don't trust Feinstein one bit. Truly disturbing if true.
Came for the tour, stayed for the smokeshow reporter and insolent old lady. Not sure she’s the national treasure the other commenters seem to think she is, and I bet Gary would agree with me.
Who the fook is Gary? Never mind, i don't give a shite.
