I quit drinking coffee in October 2019. I'm 46yo. After quitting, I felt great throughout the day. And slept much better. In May 2020, I fell off the wagon and started consuming it again. I liked iced coffee. But two months into drinking coffee again, I had a very odd reaction to it. On July 7th 2020, I made my iced coffee at around 4pm. Around 8pm, I just got done watching a YT video and was commenting on it. Then out of nowhere, it was as if someone hit a reset button in my brain. I couldn't remember if I worked that day, what I ate, what day it was, and I couldn't recall the content of the video I was commenting on. This amnesia like state lasted for about 3hrs. That experience put all caffeine consumption to an abrupt halt. Since then, it has never happened again. But the experience made me wonder if caffeine consumption has anything to do with the cause of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
It's called transient global amnesia - my mom had it once. Her neurologist reassured her that it sometimes happens and that, for all we know, it's pretty harmless (apart from the upset and disorientation it causes, your motor skills, reaction time and consciousness are not affected, it could happen while you're driving a car and you'd continue driving safely). Apparently there's no correlation with any neurodegenerative disease. Her memories of that day partially returned, but during the episode, as I talked to her in hospital, she kept repeating the same question over and over, unable to form short term memories. She didn't even know I had started working a few months earlier. It was unsettling.
Slowly tapering off since the beginning of February. The rewards of emotional well being is enough to encourage me to stop completely. It’s well worth it. Trust me it’s the best thing you can do.
im 5 days into no caffeine after over 4 years of abusing it really hard (over 400mgs at once daily for pre workout). i feel like a different person lol, i thought my anxiety was from bad food choices but it has been the fuckin caffeine all this time. cant beleve it im so pissed lol but onto greater things!!
Working out without pre is so hard but worth it. Now I only take it 3 times a week and only a half scoop. That seems to be a good amount where I am able to detox and not build a dependency.
You are right about feeling like a different person, this happens to me too, as I am quitting coffee. :) and it feels so good! I am a calm version of me now, and I really love it! I feel like a child again, in a way! Like I live in the real world. One has to experience quitting coffee to understand what I want to say. It’s such an incredible feeling!
I literally thought I wouldn't be able to function without coffee, but a few months ago I cut it out for the same reasons and it really helped with the insomnia. I now drink hot green tea in the AM! I believe it has theanine in it which helps counter the effects of the caffeine in it. It was actually way easier than I thought it would be!
After 22 years of being a regular coffee drinker , I went cold turkey , quit 5 months ago and replaced it with green tea .. Results have been nothing but amazing ..! Coffee used to make me more tired , anxious , jittery and caused mood swings .. All disappeared the moment I replaced it with green tea , which makes me calm and feel like I am at more peace .. I always thought I needed caffeine to get sharper , more focused and alert , I now know with utmost certainty that it was just an illusion ..
I had my last coffee on Feb 22nd (2019). I think the caffeine really burnt me out. I already feel beter but still have some "healing" to do. can't wait how I feel in like 6 months....
I haven't had coffee all my life (almost 50 yrs) but recently considered starting because of everyone raving how alert, energetic, etc they feel with it. And how life sucks without it. That made me think that I'm missing out on something great! Maybe my daily life would be improved drastically with coffee/caffeine. Then I see videos like this and read the comments, haha. That's enough to scare me away from starting 😃
I just quit cold turkey too, it's been about 3 weeks now. I had the same issues with not being able to sleep at night and feeling really tired in the morning. The first week off coffee was tough but I am sleeping better and feeling more rested in the morning. I never thought I would ever quit coffee, but the pay off for now is worth it.
I tapered ... reducing by about 1/2 cup coffee every 3 days. Didn't have any headache until the first no caffeine day... but it was very mild. I'd recommend that method ... but there's no getting away from the low energy impact if you are actually adrenal fatigued as I am. Now it's just letting my body heal and get back to not being stressed 24/7. It's been a week and I feel MUCH calmer despite low energy moments. Giving up caffeine was one of the best things I've ever done for myself.
I'm 64 and suffering horrible chronic insomnia. I quit smoking almost 11 years ago( suffered horrible withdrawal) but sadly replaced it with caffeine. I'm so addicted and the thought of goin without it makes me feel depressed. But from past experience with addiction the only way for me is cold turkey, so for the sake of my sleep and my mental health I'm gonna jump ship. Wish me luck!!

I had no idea how messed up my body was from caffeine. I don’t think everyone is impacted by caffeine the same way, but for me it started causing heart palpitations, head rushes when I stood up, allergy-like symptoms, exhaustion, just a whole host of problems. I was starting to think something was wrong with me. Then I remembered feeling similar a few years ago when I got heavily into caffeine, so I quit again. All worrying symptoms are gone. I went cold turkey, got fat headaches, wild mood swings from irate to totally depressed and I was so tired and unfocused I could barely function. Mind you, I drank one cup in the morning and one in the afternoon, but I found that I tolerated it less and less. I got increasingly jittery, tired, irritable and I started getting hour long heart palpitations. Yesterday I cracked, drank two cups of tea and ended up feeling motivated, but also wired and slightly anxious for the rest of the day. Couldn't sleep at all at night. I still feel kind of "up", but it's the comedown I feel, so I'm definitely a slow metabolizer. God knows how many mgs I was accumulating over several days while drinking coffee regularly... This is a really powerful drug. To think society basically celebrates this stuff while it demonizes psychedelics, it's crazy.
I know what you mean, I had 7 days successfully weaning down the amount of coffee I had and then one day I met friends at a coffee shop, ordered tea, and I felt weird all day, it wasn't worth it
I only drink it when I'm really sleepy and I need to get through the rest of day. And even then I only drink one cup, no cream, and only a teaspoon or two of sugar. My retired parents drink it everyday, not because they need it, but because they regularly drank coffee for decades (well, at least my father has). It's part of their morning routine.
It was a ritual for me too - but my body couldn't keep up with the caffeine. I've replaced it with other beverages in the AM like black tea or decaf :)
I still have black tea from time to time (not everyday like I did with coffee). Even though it has caffeine, it’s less than coffee and doesn’t cause me any issues. Have you tried green tea? Maybe that would be a better alternative for you?
I been stopping coffee I can’t think right tire in morning but Full of energy at night can’t sleep throw the night gain gonna bearly eating found out caffeine put your body under a lot of stress that you gain also mod swings my heart feel like it beating to fast all the time Doctor said nothing but has to be from something I only has 3 coffee this month I feel better slowly feeling better sleep better I wanna try decaf green tea instead to
Nope. After a while, I dislike the feeling of being hyper caffeinated more than I miss it. I workout first thing in the am on an empty stomach now and it’s working for me!
I would have 1 cup but still have issues sleeping. Day 1 and 2 I had headaches (day 2 I felt exhausted all day). Day 3 I started to have more energy but still a little tired since my sleep was still off.
You said you stopped but then you reveal you only cut down. No one would ever make a video telling people how to smoke fewer cigarettes per day. They only say quit nicotine entirely. People should do the same with caffeine. PS--not saying coffee is as bad as smoking, but Google nicotine and caffeine. They are the same thing in nature. They are both natural insecticides which kill any insects that get the idea of trying to eat a plant. Kind of makes you wonder.....
So far I’ve gone 1 week without caffeine, which is the most I’ve gone in over 10 years. So far so good, but in the afternoon around 4 I start feeling sleepy... like I wanna take a nap. Hopefully that goes away, but we’ll see.
I think it's time for me to quit drinking coffe or any other caffinated drinks. I had these symptoms of ithy and tingling sensations in my eyes and a bit of swollen eye-lids everytime i drank coffe.
I'm on day 3 of cold turkey. I was doing about 150g a day. I had an epic headache the first 2 days. I slept most of the first day and took a nap on day 2 and 3. I can't wait to get through this! I know I always feel better when I'm off caffeine. I would also recommend that you wean off slowly. I made the mistake of only cutting my intake in half on day before I quit which didn't help.
One time I quit caffeine on accident I bought my McDonald's coffee if I McDonald's coffee I was like damn this is weak is weak so I double strength it normally I drink folders I didn't really understand why why so in a month or so when the background out and I want to get more I've seen the cover was different and I was drinking decaff the whole time If and didn't know I slept 10 or 12 hours A-day normally I sleep 4 and a 1/2 to 7 I was so confused on what the hell was going on I was waking up with my pillow and faced drenched and drool yeah I was actually amazed at the results yet at the results I'm guessing I would have started sleeping less if I had kept going but I felt a sense of supercalmness I started doing half decaf half regular but I forgot maybe I need to start doing that again

you're gorgeous and your neck looks very soft and kissable but back on the note of the video; I think quitting any sort of 'high impact' stimulant such as coffee can only be beneficial as the fluctuations in energy levels were too much for me and generally I felt worn out and unable to think at times. That being said taking coffee before high intensity exercise be that football or a work out is very beneficial but even then I will be reliant upon something to enhance my performance and I just want to live without attachments insofar as possible.

I know what you mean, I had 7 days successfully weaning down the amount of coffee I had and then one day I met friends at a coffee shop, ordered tea, and I felt weird all day, it wasn't worth it
1 day with out coffee this is hard
Did you make it?
@Super Kat, sup bro, we all gotta deviate from boxing every once in a while, right 👊👊👊
One thing that really helped was using a CPAP machine at night!
Remember that first time you took a sip of coffee when you were a kid? "Yuck! Why do people drink this stuff?" Well, I'm 40 and still feel that way.
İ dont remember the first time i drank coffee probably began very early i remember i loved coffee
I been stopping coffee I can’t think right tire in morning but Full of energy at night can’t sleep throw the night gain gonna bearly eating found out caffeine put your body under a lot of stress that you gain also mod swings my heart feel like it beating to fast all the time Doctor said nothing but has to be from something I only has 3 coffee this month I feel better slowly feeling better sleep better I wanna try decaf green tea instead to
It might be something else - perhaps food related? I felt my energy rebound after eliminating dairy, gluten and grains. Might be worth a try!
Awesome info, thank you!! Do you miss it when it comes to the gym?
Nope. After a while, I dislike the feeling of being hyper caffeinated more than I miss it. I workout first thing in the am on an empty stomach now and it’s working for me!
Great video 😎 I agree (and I'm also on nicotine, but going Cold turkey There now).
I would have 1 cup but still have issues sleeping. Day 1 and 2 I had headaches (day 2 I felt exhausted all day). Day 3 I started to have more energy but still a little tired since my sleep was still off.
How many days has it been now? Did it start to get better?
ugh the brain pain is the worst! happy to hear that you're feeling good! And yes, diet/sleep/exercise ALL matter :)
im over a year off now and feel great but i do on a few ocations have a decaf
I would suggest mixing decaf into it slowly increasing the amount over time.
No need - just water it down.
Or, switch to tea for a while.
I am currently drinking half caffeinated coffee. "All things in moderation. "
I quit coffee like 15 years ago.
🤔🤔🤔
Ryan Doyle...I have watched over 10 videos on quitting caffeine and yours was the best comment...thank you
Love your hair ❤️
So far I’ve gone 1 week without caffeine, which is the most I’ve gone in over 10 years. So far so good, but in the afternoon around 4 I start feeling sleepy... like I wanna take a nap. Hopefully that goes away, but we’ll see.
Take a nap then! Even 20 mins can be very helpful as you adjust
9yrs of not drinking coffee
I did the same and started a workout plan. Still struggle off and on. Makes you dehydrated and hurt during workouts. Sucks
I'm waching this vd drinking a coffee usually I drink it at night so I can study more I can't quit for now but I'm working on it
What about caffeine free coffee?
I think it's time for me to quit drinking coffe or any other caffinated drinks. I had these symptoms of ithy and tingling sensations in my eyes and a bit of swollen eye-lids everytime i drank coffe.
Give it a try and see how it goes.
Good video thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Today is my last day of coffee! Ill be back to share how I feel in a month
Its wierd. Im more consistently energized but time seems to pass a lot slower. Idk :)
Interesting!
Update
@@Don-pk2uy Ive been off it for ~6 months. I feel pretty damn good. I kinda miss the feeling of when it just kicks in but overall i feel more well rounded and smarter. I also sleep so much better
@@Andrew-on5zy thank you for updating. and good on you for sticking to it!
I just started going cold turkey I am on day 4 and I feel amazing. I haven't had any big withdrawls, I was just super tired the first couple days. I thought this would be hard. I averaged about 4-5 cups a day and mountain dew frequently. Should I expect more pain to come?
I only had issues the first few days as my body processed what was already there - you should be on the up and up from here on out. Glad to hear you're feeling great!!
Thanks for sharing!
+Patricia Becker - Your Health and Joy - Wellness Coach thanks for watching 🤗 let me know if you have any other mobility videos or anything you want to see!
I'm quitting right now, I'm dying
57♨️ you’re recovering
You got this! How is it going?
@@aewellness 2months an all is well, and you?
I quit masturbation, smoking and now coffee
I drink coffee like once in a 6 months
I quit coffee from today
Not the caffeine its the other content in coffee
Adenosine is what triggers your pineal gland produces melatonin
this reminds me of the movie 28 days.
Would quitting tea have the same positive effects?
Probably. I've quit coffee for tea but I notice the greatest difference when I've quit caffeine 100%.
Most likely! Your chemistry is unique, so try it and see how you feel :)
Caffeine makes my head fucking dizzy NO MORE
Is anybody talking about how super cute she is.
🤦♂️
no wonder i felt like shit lol i was downing atleast half a pot everyday wtf
Are you still caffeine free ?
Yep! My brain is much happier without coffee
@@aewellness
That’s great, thanks for the reply and inspiration.
You're pretty.
MR noname I’m sure she appreciates you letting her know
haha
But what makes you pretty?😁
So, you really aren't off of coffee. 😏
You have to much time in your hands
Yeah you can tell she has money, all them fancy ingredients in her coffee.but good advice anyway
😂😂😂 lots of assumptions! Hope you found something helpful 👊
You're beautiful
you're gorgeous and your neck looks very soft and kissable
but back on the note of the video; I think quitting any sort of 'high impact' stimulant such as coffee can only be beneficial as the fluctuations in energy levels were too much for me and generally I felt worn out and unable to think at times.
That being said taking coffee before high intensity exercise be that football or a work out is very beneficial but even then I will be reliant upon something to enhance my performance and I just want to live without attachments insofar as possible.
look im sick of people saying dont drink coffee, i want to tell you a fact, even if you died the next day drinking coffee the next day people would still drink it, so what i cant stand is somebody telling me not, to drink coffee its bad for me, rubbish 6 sugars in mine.
Happy that you’ve found something that’s worked for you. That’s the most important thing 👌🏻
Lmao, some one could say "dont jump off a bridge" but if you want to that's up to you. People give advice from their personal experiences.
@@Username_Invalid yes but isolated cases, doesnt mean thats a general source of opinion, of coffee drinkers.
