    Modern recurves remind me of my past hunting life, and the way I did it I'm not proud. But now with that path of asiatic reflex bows I feel very happy but I need a lot to learn. Thanks for your videos..

    I have this bow and really like it. It does require some fiddling to quiet it down, felt in the limb pockets and on limb tips along with string silencers. I use 700 spine arrows with highish FOC and get good arrow flight. The fiddling is part of the fun for me. I like shooting ambidextrously and the weight is nice for training. I shoot med most often, so it works for me. I find practicing both sides helps me keep my brain flexible, it does take a bit of mental adjustment to switch sides. I am getting pretty good at shooting my off side. It is very nice for a moderately priced training bow. FYI though the strings that come with them take a lot of shots/time to settle down and stop stretching to maintain a stable brace height. As Armin often notes though, you know what to expect with the price point.

    I did think this would be a useful bow for clubs running beginner's courses- no more having to buy left and right risers... Intriguing concept, but I think it ends up trying to do many things and possibly not excelling at any of them, a jack of all trades and master of none perhaps?
    Really love the reviews, keep them coming please 🙂

    Wow! I've been wanting to ask you about this and this out toady. I seriously want to practice thumb draw on a modern takedown bow. I do still want an traditional Asiatic reflex bow though. Both for intuitive archery.
    Thanks for this review!

  • @DerekBartlettBeorn

    9:50 Yeah my bow has two shelves about that size, works pretty well with the Slavic draw (can't work out khatra, though, and not for lack of trying), so keeping both the bow and draw hand still makes it work

  • @gizmonomono

    It's an interesting and practical design. And the price is reasonable. But for mediterranean I would go for a center cut bow, as I can already use my "horse bow" in quite versatile ways.
    Awesome review as usual, thank you.

  • @DerekBartlettBeorn

    OH YEAH, two sides, finally! Pretty sure that's the first time I've EVER seen a takedown bow with two shelves, didn't even know such a bow was even manufactured.

      I can't say for sure, but I seem to remember seeing Armin do a review on a similar bow 2 or 3 years ago. Two shelves, takedown. I had no idea it was a thing back then either 😁

    The bow would probably benefit from bare shaft tuning, both with noise reduction and accuracy.
    The cutaway (not being centre shot) would be pretty sensitive to spine.
    It sounds like it would probably prefer a heavier arrow with some point weight to get the shaft bending round the riser.
    The trade off for silence is speed though. Swings and roundabouts.

    Those recurve takedown risers are nice and the like, I got myself a takedown riser just like that but not the twin model. If you're into putting your bow in a backpack this is the way to go. How do you hold your horsebows Armin, High wrist Mediterranean? All fingers on the handle or maybe pengrip?

  • @davewebster6945
    @davewebster6945 2 года назад

    If you twist string to get it to 8"brace height and also put some stick on velcro on the limb ends where string contacts the limb, also the same on the arrow shelves and sides of arrow windows that should stop all that noise.

And as soon as we get out of house arrest. I intend to spend some quality time with our granddaughter on the other side of mountains. Soon we hope.

    Hello Armin, can you make a Review of a brand called Spiderbows, it's a small Company from South Tyrol quite a few models they made in the past got copied from a bigger brand i don't want to mention now but it speaks for itself that they really make awesome, sadly less known Bows.
    If so, I recommend the Hurricane, it's the one i started with last year! I can send it to you if you want!

    Everyone that shoot both mediterranean and thumb will struggle with these arrow side. I'm contemplating custom ordering a center shoot on the "wrong" side for thumb release, and i think many of us had that idea at one point or an other.
    Or maybe i should just stick one of those modern arrow rest on my hunter bow and see if it can hold the thumb arrow sliding off the shelf, it's rare but when it happen it's quiet scary. Anyone have success with that?

    Good review, Armin. For me archery is a very, very aesthetic doing. Germans are good engineers, very effective and efficient. But they are not aesthetes. Other nations have always associated purpose with beauty. But not the Germans. I would never take such a cudgel in my hands to practice something as beautiful as archery. My opinion. Always enjoy to draw your bow ;-).

      @@Daylon91 to say the archer can't adjust brace height is just ridiculous. Good form is everything, if the archer torques the bow or has bad form, the bow will tell everyone around, by making noise, that this is the case. You have no idea what you are talking about.

      @Daylon91 2 года назад

      @@kanyinak the archer CAN adjust the braceheight but when it's given its given and the noise with the bow is how they had it. So tinkering it yourself to make it relatively quiet shows that bow is not good right out of the box. It's cheap bow mimicking the sound of a gun lmao. Sure string silencers and a higher braceheight might fix it. But that's not how u get the bow
