amzn.to/4eIDiHh I found the Best Take down survival bow for under 50 dollars. Dave Canterbury talks about this great Take down bow and demonstrates its use
You put up a video and I watch it. Usually more than once. If that's just once a month, that's fine. If it's every day, that's fine. Just . . . _thank you for not whining, bitching, griping, moaning or complaining about "views" and such._ I've been with ya for a _really_ long time now. Many others have come and gone, but I have been loyal and supportive of you and your mission precisely because you have been solid for us, your subscribers, for the entire time. I've spent thousands at your "store". When I was a child I had subscriptions to _Outdoor Life, Field and Stream_ , and _Popular Mechanics_ . I joined the Cub Scouts and only left the organization when there was no longer a Den close enough to our rural area for me to remain joined with. We were poor. And there were no adults in our community willing to take on the role of leadership. But we had a good man at the local Church that had a boys club organization set up by his church. He taught us everything the Boy Scouts would have, but without the propaganda, the uniforms, or the BS. Those days are gone now. And a lot of us former subscribers to _Outdoor Life, Field and Stream_ , and _Popular Mechanics_ are now subscribers to you and the Pathfinder Team. Just want you to know, you are appreciated by a lot of people you'll never meet, but whom know you just a little all the same.
I bought the 40lb bow just now lol. If at all possible when you find the time, can you make a short video on how to slightly upgrade it? Maybe a few changes you would do to yours... would be awesome. Appreciate the videos and thank you for setting these kids up.
Funny you'd Upload this Mr Canterbury...I have this Exact Bow, Among Others...Last Season we did an Experiment with Cheap Recurves...This bow 40 lbs , The Arrows that came with it are Lawn Jarts. But Holloween evening 2023 I sent a 500 Spine Gold tip with a 125 Gr VPA HEAD Straight through a Doe at 15 yards...This Bow, (40lbs) is more than Capable of bringing down Game... Good video Brother 👍🏻
Dave with a bow…. It’s like we’re traveling back in time !!!! I love all your content brother !!! Your videos and your books are my go to library for information. Thanks man !
I don't get much views either, but it won't stop me from going into the woods ! You need to make money, but RUclips exclusively fore the money ? That ain't me. 😁 I am looking into getting a bow, so your series is just timed perfectly !
Thanks for the wilderness outfitters archery flashback. I loved seeing you and Iris shooting 3d targets together. Yes, I've been a viewer/student that long.
Thanks for what you are doing for the kids this day and time finding someone interested in teaching a kid something more than a video game is hard to do.
Nice bow! But hold on now, you do this out of the goodness of your heart, to share your knowledge? FOR FREE???? You actually make a living doing something else? You're not going to drop 50 survival bows at 10:00 am and hope we all scramble to get them? 🤣🤣🤣 Love your work, thanks so much!
I shoot that same bow almost daily. Unfortunately it is mislabeled as a recurve. It is in fact a longbow. As is evidenced by the fact that the string doesn't touch the curve at the tip. Other than that, it is a great shooting bow. If I didn't have 4 bows I'd likely shoot it daily, but gotta know all of them. And it's even better being ambidextrous, I seem to have a few lefty friends! For a better rest than provided I use the loops part of stick on 'velcro' If you are gonna buy a backpack bow, and you like that one: spend a little more and buy a Black Hunter take down. You will not regret it.
Thanks for the heads up on this Dave. Very interesting in a follow up video with the recommended upgrades you mentioned. Appreciate you and all you do.
If you look around you can find the black hunter for $60. Thats a good bow if your draw length is max 29 inch. And you can choose between recurve or long bow.
Ordered. I am not a hunter, I like bushcrafting, etc, but I prefer to use snare wire traps... However, this lightweight bow will be a good item in my BOB, just for any emergency situation...
I don't care how often you upload videos. It is better to make a video when you see the need for it, rather than trying to come up with something just because you need to upload a video this week, or every day.
When I was a little kid I had a sweet translucent green fiberglass longbow. Loved that thing. We'd shoot it in the field behind my friends house all the time.
Only thing I'd do is put a metal band around the raw cut fiberglass, so it doesn't fray out over time. Little epoxy and you'd have a much tougher limb. ;)
These types of bow 🏹 are very quiet compared to compound bows and compound crossbows , a small length of inner tube rubber on the limbs helps to reduce vibration noise even further. Very simple and effective with two single blade bevel edge points nothing fancy which helps the point roll off bone 🦴 and continue instead of stopping.
Please do a video on the same 40 pound bow after you have used it for a few months in the field. Would love to see how it holds up after months of use. Thanks. I would worry abit a the screws and nuts. If they are cheap soft threads they could strip out after a few take downs and assembly.
*Thanks for the video, the short review, and the demo.* I could see purchasing several dozen inexpensive carbon fiber arrow shafts properly spined for the 40# bow; applying nocks, vanes, and threaded inserts; and then searching for a set of complimentary small game points, bird points, fishing points, and broadhead points that would all shoot to the same point of aim, more or less, as one another. Along with some sort of rudimentary field quiver, a glove/tab/thumb ring, and a pair of elevated arrow rests, one would be all set except for the necessary practice to become a competent archer. *I wonder if there's any way to shoot this bow Asiatic style with a thumb ring? I'm ambidextrous, and the 40# bow would be my maximum weight for this 70-year-old man with osteoarthritis in both shoulders. I've been looking at inexpensive asiatic recurve bows because they're generally speaking the only ones commonly available that are designed from the get-go to be shot ambidextrous, which my doctor insists on my doing to alleviate unnecessary stress on my right side rotator cuff tendons.*
Dave, can you guys look at getting a twig stove made for the Grayl nesting cup that fits around it like the cup and canteen sets have? I would buy it in a heartbeat
Would the 40 lb bow be a good starter bow for an adult just getting into archery? Great info video. Thanks for all you do not only for your viewers, but also the the youth of today.
Dave, Just watched the video for this bow, I’m wondering how it would work with the “take-down” arrows…if they work good, that would be an awesome combo for a packable survival kit !
A lot of the reviews state these often come in way lighter than their stated poundage. Did you measure yours or get the feel that it was at or close to 40#?

It's awesome that you're doing stuff for the youth Dave. They need this

I love all the information I get from you. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge. Bless you, Dave!
I would be interested in knowing how the bows held up during the youth event. Can you do a post event review?

😂
My dad killed many deer with a 40lb recurve.. so did my uncle, cousins and all their friends. Nothing to scoff at. Thanks David🎩
Definitely interested in this. I'm all for videos like this! Appreciate all you do, Dave. I've learned SO MUCH from your videos.
In my opinion, when people aren't concerned with views then they tend to put our more quality videos. Such yourself, Dan, and Matt From Blackhat.

I just bought one. Been looking for a good one for a while now. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Thanks for the heads up on this Dave. Very interesting in a follow up video with the recommended upgrades you mentioned. Appreciate you and all you do.
Thanks Dave. I've been looking for exactly this for the very reasons that you mention.
Looks like it would be great for bow fishing. Takes me back to the first time i caught your channel. Great video as always.
That's such an awesome bow, Dave!! Thanks for sharing this with us! Im definitely going to look into this as a hunting/survival bow!!
That is awesome to see you giving to a youth program. I will be looking into that for sure
I'm impressed with that bow . I looked on Amazon and there are 60 lb risers that can be purchased separately.
Oh man, Dave I ain't seen your videos in a few years. Glad RUclips notified me of this one! Keep on rockin dude

Dave use a framing square for leveling the knock mark. Works easily. Good luck brother hope you an the kids have fun.
So awesome shat you're doing for the youth let alone what you're doing for us all by sharing so much. Thank you!
Great review and find Dave. Thanks.
Good to see you David!
Dave I really love the bow ❤and the ideas you gave to make it better thanks
They are great little bows, I've got one I set up specifically for bow fishing.
Looks awesome for the price. It would be cool to see what you can do with it to sue it up. A full kit up including best way to carry it all.
Nate
Enjoy your videos

Thanks, Dave. You're awesome. As always, add some camo wrap to the lams and she would look gorgeous
Nice! It's worth a video showing the improvements!

Dave, obrigado por seus ensinamentos, grande abraço aqui do Brasil. 👍👍👍

Dave is the King

This looks to be a great find!
Pretty cool Dave 👍🏻👍🏻
cool deal thanks very much for the info and video 👍👍
Dave makes videos that other RUclipsrs copy and make a living from! 😂
Only 10$ more on Amazon Canada and anything usually is twice the price, I'm definitely getting one! Maybe 2,...
Ty Dave
Awesome video
The limbs dictate the poundage of the bow so you should mark each limbs with the appropriate limb weight so they don’t get mixed up.
If you don’t take the limbs off it’s not an issue but if you were mixing bows I can see that
Thanks for sharing this, brother!
Looks like a good deal’😁👍
Would love to see the upgrades you would make to it. I inherited one just like it and I'd love to see what you would do to it.
Nice thanks
Would love to see how you would upgrade it!
Nice review
Nice find
I tell ya dave my 46 pound magnum recurve Fred bear bow would work .so a 40 lb now could put meat on the table . No doubt man
I like your neck tattoo of Otze, that's badass.
Dave, can you guys look at getting a twig stove made for the Grayl nesting cup that fits around it like the cup and canteen sets have? I would buy it in a heartbeat
I would love to see a mod video
Thank you Dave! I think I will pick one up soon to start practicing! Do you think this bow would be fine for deer hunting at close range?
Would the 40 lb bow be a good starter bow for an adult just getting into archery? Great info video. Thanks for all you do not only for your viewers, but also the the youth of today.
And Hoyt has a shark metal riser take down bow 50 lb limbs that’s 169 dollars .bad to the bone .but at 39 bucks I agree that’s hard to beat
Amazon sales just went through the roof!!!
Dave,
Just watched the video for this bow, I’m wondering how it would work with the “take-down” arrows…if they work good, that would be an awesome combo for a packable survival kit !
Nice, Have a Great Weekend and 4th! Stay Safe out there .
Would be nice to put a storage slot on the riser to hold that allen key...
Thats pretty cool bud
Love you and your channel Dave! Haven't shot a bow in 20 years and I've always been wanting to get into archery, is this a decent beginner bow?
What brand bow Dave? Than you for posting the video.
Have you considered using the Cub Scout Day Camp model for something like this?
you can only beat it if you can make your own arrows in a survival situation
And 1 day after thid video releases the price jumps to 45$ lol
A lot of the reviews state these often come in way lighter than their stated poundage. Did you measure yours or get the feel that it was at or close to 40#?
For those that have this, recommendations for arrows please.
Does any think a deer could be taken with this bow ? maybe the 40 pound 1 , within 30-40 yards?
nice
I think if you had the time YOU WOULD MAKE A GREAT SCOUT LEADER 🎉🎉
Do you think it would be good for wild pigs?
do an improvement bow followup video
Looks like the Bear I have from 70s
What ever happened to the sling bow?
