Plz drum caravan an whiplash plz
I love your work dude! very inspiring.
Scientists recently discovered a new black hole deemed to be the largest one ever found and named it "Larnell's Pocket"
Bravo 👏 🤣
I was about to mention how deep the pocket is that Larnell grooves in. A lot of talented drummers will rush or drag while playing with jazz or funk groups. Not this dude.
Now that is a comment.
Hahahah amazing and 100% true
I fact checked to be sure and you are indeed correct
One of the best drummers to ever walk the earth...
You mean the best drummer ever walk the earth?
@@ganiooo_1841 ?
Gotta go with notme. One of, but still extremely good.
THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE ULTIMATELY BEST!
Ganiooo _ that would be mister Danny Carey
3:01 make sure we knew it was a single kick 😂💪
LOLLLL
Yamaha must be making some serious money from Larnell's fan base, cuz I'm definitely getting that fp9
Good lord! Feet faster than Sonic the Hedgehog! Sheesh!
People sometimes ask me why I don't play a double pedal.. my answer? Because after many years of playing, I still haven't mastered the single one yet! This here shows exactly what I'm talking about.
Check out Rob "Beatdown" Brown's lesson on foot pedal setup and speed to get your chops up. I am not a drummer, but appreciated that video.
Larnell's talent,
Blessing from above.
this is the level of drumming that every drummer wants
So true. I finally got back to my intermediate ability but man I wish I could master my foot pedal and pocket like this dude
he changed my mind
As a life-long metal drummer...Larnell is the one that pulled me out of my pigeon-hole a few years ago. He showed me how much fun and tasty the pocket can be!
Impressive how a simple straight beat presents itself when placed in the right spot being played with the appropriate feel to it. Larnell Lewis manages to let technique serve the music.
Well said.. but even when he does the advanced “non straight” stuff it SOUNDS straight because it complements the rest of the instrumentation… and his drum solo is not just technical it’s MUSICAL many drummers forget to make music.
Does anyone else still hear the horns?!
and the percussion
Vita E. I can’t help but sing’em
Here I am going.....DaDa Dat Dat Daaah DaaahDaaah DaaahDaaah :) :)
Yeah man it feels like that's just a part of the song now
It's Obvious
Three things everyone should know about Larnell. Thing one: He gets the best kick drum tone I've ever heard with a felt beater. Thing two: He plays a rented drum kit like he's owned it since high school. Thing three: he's the coolest cat you've ever met. A died in the wool professional. Larnell Lewis, please come back to Ottawa Jazz festival any chance you get. You are a true pleasure to work with. All the best to you.
@@txsidewinder290 Wow!!!! Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
4:10-4:18 so underrated
Space!! 🙏🏿
@@LarnellLewisMusic space is the perfect word brother.
@@LarnellLewisMusic Leaving said space amplified that crescendo you did to lead the horns back into the mix. So good.
Aaron Spears (rip) Eric Moore and Larnell my favorite drummers.
someone else waiting for Larnell to surprise us this time in his great solo?
Get ready to COUNT! lolll
I am slow drum reaction channel out of South Carolina n wanted to know if i can react to your drum covers on my channel....
plot twist: he neaver heard the song before.
no, but seriously he's just so good. go check out how he listens to one song just once and then nails it perfectly.
4:32 felt like he was telling his monitor "hold on tight buddy, imma bout to go ultrasonic"
Larnell Lewis is the definition of "in the pocket"
This is quite forward imo but his time is impeccable
can’t wait for this... Zildjian live was absolutely insane.
I really like how he approach the song on the Tām Tám festival version
Pretty sure it’s already out on Spotify!
I gooottaa see this guy live
Pls, which rudiments can I apply to get good chops
Just, WOW!
Don’t lie this is how many people think that Larnell bringing that swag
⬇️
Everyone else already covered how crazy the playing is so I'll say this:
My man looks GOOD.
Freak of nature
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Larnell the baddest
Best right foot in the game, hands down.
We need to help him get to 100 thousand subscribers. He truly deserves it.
Who else discovered this guy after watching the famous Cory Henry solo countless times and then realizing "actually that drummer is pretty amazing too"?
There's 100 reasons why this dude is every drummer's favorite drummer and you can see all 100 in this video
Baby Dodds... and here we are. Thank you, sir!
"2020 is getting back on track"
October: Larnell with hair and beard
Larnell. Says the most by saying the least. Kit tuning, pocket, instrumentation, the fills, everything is on point! And 1:23 hit different man...
This version and the Zildjian Live version are both awesome in their own right. One thing about Larnell Lewish is that he is VERY DYNAMIC. He plays commensurate to the feel of the composition. No over playing. No underwhelming laziness. Just right. He is a Goldilocks in that sense. Love it!!!
I know of no one better. NO ONE.
Such a humble soul. Love watching him play, but more so enjoy listening to him teach and speak with so much respect and passion!
I'm never disappointed with Larnell. I went back to playing drums after stepping away for 19 years after watching him on Zildjian live. His approach just makes musical sense
You can tell he's havin' fun
Every time I watch that solo I just stop counting and let the music happen. So satisfying.
Best groovy drummer
British Got talent .
Larnell Lewis is a god...
Larnell could have easily overplayed this but his musicianship is out of this world. The way he played really allowed you to appreciate the track. Nothin wrong with a tight groovy pocket.
Outch. It's beauty. 😲 Wooooo
Real deal holyfield....
Petition to add this to Gran Turismo Soundtracks
Yes Larnell!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wooaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! Especially 3:01 mins! Tooooo gooood!! 🤩
Awesome GROOVE!!!!!!
that is so buttery smooth that I want to put it on my toast
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
"A pocket so deep I just want to sleep in it" - Larnell you are off the charts man. One of a kind!
This man is ice cold
An absolute MONSTER.
WOW JUST WWOOOOOWWW!!!🤯🤯
A creative genius
Hey sir. Can you play "Coconuts"? I just love that song. A big hug from Brazil. We love you.
Let’s get this guy to 100thousand subscribers. He truly deserves it. Tell as many people as you can. And don’t forget to subscribe. Thank yiu.
Always love to see drummers not afraid to show their drumface on.
Sir larnell 🙇🏽♂️ Damn! 💯
That blue pad makes a good visual contrast 👍
For anyone wondering what the F*CK is going on during that solo, here it is: Before the drum solo, he stops the groove with a hit on the 'a' of 4, then there's a bar of rest. Then there's a 1-bar fill starting on the + of 1. Then it's into the solo.
During the solo, he's winding with lots of syncopated rhythms around shots on a 4-bar loop. The loop is as follows: In bar 1, there's a shot on beat 2. In bar 2, there's a shot on the 'a' of 1. In bars 3 and 4, it's just solo, no shots. It's all in 4/4, no weird shit, just a lot of syncopation.
The trickiest thing he does is he plays what sounds like straight 8ths notes but it's actually just playing off the 'e's and 'a's. That makes the shots feel really unexpected.
Just the master being the master.
G.O.A.T 🐐
So good. Very very good. This line a music fron the world is beautiful.
How can dislike this brilliant video....??
The only reason I can think of, is because there wasn’t enough? Idk I’m perplexed af
Almost broke my neck grooving at that solo
Awesome dexterity
Outta this world🌍
Mesmerizing
F...., fantastic!!!!
" Really honey I could play like this if I just had his Kit..."
Walks away laughing...😂
Even my wife knows he is untouchable.
Gone and get your kit bruh.
💀💀💀💀
That last min was wild. Whoa now.
I never thought I’d ever be okay with a guy filling in for Sput on snarky puppy... but Larnell gets the stamp of approval
This guy makes me smile every time I see him, he is so musical and special, nail it every single time, one of a kind.
This changed my life
Ooooooooow shiiiiiiiiii the solo at end.. 😳😳 Hell all of it🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can someone’s drumming actually make you cry?? 😱 Like I would never cry after listening to something as monstrous as that!😬
only because i know i’ll never be that good 😭
Matthew Mrocca 💯
The tom thing he did at 4:53 is the single most awesome musical thing I've ever seen. Jesus that was dope
Just a straight BOSS.
Larnell I’m going to meet you one day man. Your my absolute favorite drummer.!
The Professor!!!
My favorite drummer! Straight up
There are drummers that inspire and drummers that make you want to quit because you know they are on another level that you’ll never reach. Larnell is the latter for me. His touch is unreal.
His work with Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy) is also incredible. Pure joy to my ears.
sounds like two birds in one two
Inspiring us to Quit
I quit 13 years ago after watching a dennis chambers SOLO
Know the feeling
This what to show critics when you argue it's okay to rest the beater against kick drum head. If Larnell does it, it just can't be wrong.
What tone are you looking for. The dry, dead tone of pressing the beater or an open tone with some decay. That's part of it...
YEAH I AM GOING HOME AND THROWING MY DRUMS AWAY AND PICKING UP THE TRIANGLE
A perfect no-nonsense song that is shouting: "Here I am, and you better believe it!". That is what the lead guitar and the drums say (to my ears)! 😀 Love it, its delicious. So an alternative title for this song I propose is: "You better believe it!" ;-)
Who the hell could thumbs down this
The way your vibin, im vibin like that right now :O
WOW. He makes that kit sing. That ending was incredible
poetry in motion!!!!!!!
Genius At Work!
the melody is mint
This is pretty much what I imagine when I think "Casiopea + Larnell Lewis" and it's better than I ever thought possible
Wow! Where have I been that I haven’t encountered this talented musician! Gotta love you tube for getting people like him in front of everyone!
I’ve been schooling at Jukasa for a year and a half now. Absolutely wonderful you came and blessed our studio. Truly a privilege to watch you work and use the same mics I learn to mix on. Come back to our Reserve whenever you’d like. I’m sure Darren and Jill we’re accommodating and you had a good time with them.
This is so ghost note zildjian live esque JUST AMAZING
Holy Moly!
Awesome Larnell.
GORGEOUS
Every time I feel myself focus way too much on sextuplet chops a Larnell video puts me back in the right head space. Absolute inspiration.
Pls .wats sextuplets
First time I saw a video of Larnell was in one of the Drum Day videos. Now I make sure I watch all of his videos. Great and inspirational drummer.
In my top 5 of all time
Shhhhheeeshhhhh
