Filoni and Favreau are saving the sequel trilogy by retconing them. They’ve literally talked about it lol
Now that Luke isn’t a secret, they can hire a bigger and more experienced team to do him. Mark Hamill was also brought in and did all the same scenes and a young luke body double did the same. Mark also did the voice which they de-aged.
Are you sure about de-aging the voice? Last time that was not what they did, they used AI to recreate his voice.

It's going to be kind of disappointing if this entire global history of the shows ends with: "oh, and by the way, the Empire is back with a new name, so everything that's been accomplished so far was for nothing".
@@Ratchet2431 Well the whole thing with the “First Order” vs “The Resistance” never made sense to me. Why couldn’t they have maybe called it First Order against the New Republic? It’s bad enough they stuck everything on Hosnian Prime because Disney wouldn’t let Abrams blow up Corruscant, but that’s what we ended up with. But if you run a storyline similar to Heir to the Empire with Thrawn bringing back the Empire (or trying to) much in the same way he did Heir to the Empire. They can setup a story line where they can lay waste to the New Republic and what’s left of the New Republic ends up being the Resistance. It makes sense really. They had Republic forces during the time of Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, but you don’t hear of New Republic Forces in the new trilogy. They’re all just “Resistance”.

The thing with Luke is, he abandoned his training because of his strong bond to his friends in Empire and what happened? Vader whooped him all over Cloud City and he got his hand sliced off. So it makes sense why he wouldn't want his students to go through something similar or worse.
While that's true, it's also important to keep in mind that Luke later abandoned that particular teaching of the Jedi because his bond to his father is what ultimately brought Vader back to the light side. The Jedi forbid personal attachment because attachment means fear of loss, and fear leads to the dark side, but they failed to see that this is a two way road and attachment can also be the thing to bring someone back from the dark side. And ultimately, that's why they failed. If they had not held on that belief and actually tried to help Anakin with his fears about Padme, instead of scolding him for abandoning the Jedi ways, he might have never turned into Darth Vader to begin with.
So glad you guys have gotten through enough Clone Wars for all the hype of the reveals this episode to hit even harder

C'mon, Marketa. Jedi ALWAYS took in kids that were too young to decide for themselves. Even Anakin back in episode 1 was considered too old by the council to be admitted to the order and were hesitant to take him in because Jedi didn't like taking in kids that were old enough to have formed personal attachments. Their point was somehow proven back in episode 2 when Anakin lost his shit but I digress. Luke, right now, is still devoted to the old ways and he's still about to make the mistakes that'll eventually lead to his downfall. The only difference is, he's actually giving the kid a choice to back out this early.

I almost feel like Luke is testing Grogu to see how much he actually desires to become a Jedi (earlier he said something like “his heart’s not in it”). If Grogu chooses the lightsaber, I’m quite confident that Luke will give him the Beskar chainmail too. We’ll have another Mandalorian Jedi eventually
Luke has no right to make Grogu choose between the armor or the light saber. The armor was a gift from Mando to Grogu. He should get it no matter what his decision will be. If Luke withholds it from Grogu, then he’s acting like a thief. The intention of the giver (Mando) should be honored.

I heard that Luke's voice is actually synthesized, created entirely from a computer to mimic Mark Hamill from 1983. Don't know if that's true or not, the first time I heard it was Eric from Blind Wave saying it.
Not entirely true. It was Mark Hamill himself that voiced Luke but they digitally manipulated his voice to be younger. And the actor in action is Graham Hamilton.
Everytime I see Timothy Olyphant, it makes me think of his character from justified. I mean, he's even a marshall on here.

Pretty sure they hired Mark Hamill to voice Luke and as he's a voice actor, he can manipulate his own voice.
That's probably why the delivery is so flat. He has to do a lot to make his voice sound younger and/or make easy to edit into a young sound. That... and i feel like a lot of the ADR/Overdubbing in this series has felt off. Like they obviously have to do the voices for most of the characters after the fact, but all the voices that are supposed to sound natural straight up sound like the recording booths they were recorded in.
I think Luke’s question was a test of character. Grogu will own each of the objects in the end. It is just a question of how he gets there.
Mark Hamill is in the credits so he's definitely the voice. They may have digitalized the voice some.

You guys have such a unique perspective on Ahsoka and the Clone Wars watching this episode. Most people have either seen all of Clone Wars or none of it. Very few have seen just a part of it lol

No it's not shitty. Luke wants to do it as early as possible so that he doesn't waste anyone's time (Mando and Grogu and his own). It does make sense in that way. If Grogu wants to go with Mando then it's best that he goes with Mando to prevent dark side force user from coming up again. If he wants to go with Luke then it has to be all the way.

If we are going year for year, then I think Cad Bane is in his 70’s, and allegedly his people age similarly to humans, so his coloring, voice, walk/gate, **could** demonstrate that.
Luke’s love and attachment toward Anakin saved the galaxy. His actions proved the Jedi dogma wrong. It just doesn’t feel right for him to suddenly uphold that tradition now.

If u relook at it frame by frame u can see that Cobb reacts to the blaster bolt before it hits him. Either reacted too early when they filmed it or maybe foretelling that he was bracing for the shot as it was coming meaning he's probably not be dead. He also turns over after he gets shot :). I think Luke might be testing Grogu like Ashoka said. Lukes' intention might be to let Grogu choose and if he chooses the lightsaber Luke will know that Grogu is serious and may still give him the armor at some point.

I thought Luke's concern was the aging issue. If Grogu stays w/ Mando, would Luke be around to train him in 40 years? I'm team Mando, because both the Mandalorians & Jedi are clinging to traditional ways that may or may not be relevant.

I saw an article saying that Hamill didn't records new lines for this. They have a butt-ton of old archive audio from this time in his life and they fed it all into a neural network to produce the dialogue.
Anakin didn't kill just 1 room of kids but basically all of the jedi he encountered in the temple.

i dont believe shamook was part of the corridor deepfakes, but i could be wrong. But i do know that shamook put a lot of deepfakes on his channel and did one for the s2 finale of mandalorian. That specific video caught the eye of ILM and they hired him on. Impressive work.

Seeing Cad Bane in live action man 🔥
Chris is on point. Part of the Monomyth /Heros Journey (that a lot of Star Wars is based on) is that the hero first must reject the Call to adventure (or in this case Jedi training) before changing their mind. So if Grogu chooses the armor, he will likely return to Luke later anyway.
When you think about it, you could include Han Solo in that list who first rejects but changes his mind when he first just want to get paid but then returns to help the rebels out blowing up the Death star

Some Jedi don't fight unless they absolutely must. My favorite of these is Kelleran Beq. Although he is the host of the kids show Jedi Temple Challenge (which is great btw), he is a canon character. He is completely dedicated to teaching and only teaching.

The voice of Cad Bane is the same voice actor. He has aged since Clone wars so his skin has lightened over time.

Back in the Expanded Universe before the Force Awakens came out, Luke realized that the old ways of the Jedi don't work, and would allow future Jedi to have wives/husbands/families.
Hear me out, this is all just an Origin story for Grogu, Luke trained him and he became a badass Jedi like Yoda and has his own story during the sequel trilogy leading to a new movie or even trilogy of him resurrecting the Jedi Order and Rey makes a Cameo
The Luke dialog is AI produced from samples of audio taken during the production of the original trilogy. They used an app called Respeecher.
At this point Disney is just flexing with Luke they could've hired a lookalike but they just wanted to show off their awesome power!!
The CGI deaging Mark Hamill is a better choice than appealing to fan requests of getting the guy I would have recognized as The Winter Soldier. Sebastian Stan already had a Disney+ show. Stan and Hamill look nothing alike.

Sadly at the pace they have (one ep per week), it's very unlikely they'll finish the three shows before the Ahsoka series, let alone Mandalorian S3. They're still in season 3 of TCW and that's taken them almost an entire year

Again like a Mandalorian episode, so it's weird. But such a great episode, wow. They really improved the deepfake, only complaint is the voice was quite monotone but that's ok. I teared up when Luke was jumping with Grogu on his back. But the transition after the explosion was weirdly abrupt, whole scene was too quick... The choice better be a test, he can have both! But yeah, if only one, then I don't know either. Cad Bane I had no idea about existing, but he looked sooo good.
I think we forget that the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order maintained peace in the galaxy for over 1000 years before Episode 1. So you could argue the Jedi's teachings were working for a very long time
I don't think that Cobb Vanth is dead, because he was shot in the shoulder, unlike his deputy, Deputy Scott (his name was in the end credits 🤔), who was shot all over the place by _Cad Bane_ 😰😱!
We're forgotting that the Dark Saber exists precisely because there was a Mandalorian Jedi. Luke's test is just that: a test. There is nothing keeping Grogu from being both. It's only that, for now, he has to pick one and commit to it. If he picks the lightsaber, I have no doubt that Luke will gift him with the armor as well in time.
The ending theme really does slap hard in this show.
Cade bane is the only Bounty hunter that can match Boba Fett in skill
The music, the vocalization, I swear to god, it sounds exactly like the music from this old Swedish movie based on a book by Astrid Lindgren the woman who wrote Pippy Longstocking (Pippi Långstrump, 1969 series) and many other beloved stories.
The movie with music is called "Ronja Rövardotter" which translates to Ronja: A robber's daughter, though her father in the movie like a thief clan leader, they call him king, this story is told, though I can understand why it's not internationally known. (Book from 1981 movie from 1984.)
Basically, the story is about the friendship of two children, each from their own family, they secretly meet and struggle with the constant rivalry between the two clans of outlaws, while also running from the medieval knights (representing law) from the time period it is set in. But what makes the story unique is all the weird creatures in this world, humor, and the main focus on genuine friendship with a struggle, rather than pushing a love story we all don't need to see another one of.
The whole having two sabers isn't a Dark Side thing at all. Just a variation on technique some Jedi used (more often way in the past). They never explain Ahsoka getting her second saber (I think), it just shows up in Clone Wars that she has a shorter shoto blade too.
New Rockstars put out a theory that the Green color of the Lightsaber is a trigger for Grogu's PTSD of Order 66 as that is the color he associates with it as you can see the reflection of Green in his eyes in the flashback and the modern day, much like how some veterans can get triggered by a car backfiring or a malfunctioning lawnmower because they sound like gunshots. so Luke using a Green Lightsaber, and making Grogu choose between Mando's gift and another Green Saber, is probably gonna influence Grogu's choice
