  • Could be the only one with one owner, sub 5k miles. Not been on the road for over 10 years and was unmolested before that. is this the Holy Grail of Deauvilles? Should I be contacting Motorcycle museums? Only time will tell. #auction #automobile #motorcycle #bikelife #maintenance #holygrail #nt700 #honda #deauville

I bought a 2004 650 Deauville that had been parked in a garrage for 12 years , i had to have the carbs ultrasonicaly cleaned before it would run. With a new Mot it cost £170. Over the next year it needed 2 new michelins, a new fuel pump, new fork seals. But a superb bike 70 mpg 75-85mph cruseing, top speed aprox 105 ish. Very good quality nice bike!!!

I just picked up a NT 700 with 7500 miles on it here in the end of 2023. I had some issues with it because it sat since 2015 in the original owners garage. He finally decided to sell it. He had stabilizer in the gas tank. On my channel on RUclips, I have what that stabilizer did inside the gas tank. It ended up stranding me 40 miles from home, because that stuff plugged the fuel filter inside the gas tank
I also re-searched known problems with these bikes, they have two, bad, spark, plug caps once they get old. The symptoms of bad, spark plug cabs is hesitation when you turn the throttle coming out of corners, or starling occasionally at stop signs or red lights when you go to pull out. I replace my spark plug cabs and it’s been running beautiful ever since.
I have also had twoHonda Pacific coast motorcycles, I have had two of those because my first one got totaled with me on it. Waiting at a stop sign one morning on my way to work. It was the most profitable paid nine month vacation of my life.. I replaced that pacific coast with another one that I commuted on for the next 24 years. The NT700 and the Pacific coast are very similar, in a few ways the Pacific coast is better, in other ways the NT 700 is better..
i’ve had many many many dozens of motorcycles over the decades. I proclaimed the Pacific coast to be the best motorcycle in the history of the universe. I rode mine six days a week to work, and then I would ride on Sundays for fun with my buddies, it had a few things that needed updating like, there were only two tire manufacturers that made sets of tires for the Pacific coast. Metzler and Dunlop… because I was commuting, the tires never did last more than 4500 miles. That is the toughest miles on tires is stop and go commuting, especially here where we have lots of hills…
fuel, injected, bikes, when the battery goes flat, you are not gonna be able to push that thing and catch it in gear to start it. You need a good battery to power the fuel pump, the fuel injection system, and the ignition system, all at the same time. That’s why I make a jumper cables out of power cords from dishwashing machines or washing machines that are discarded. I have a couple videos on my RUclips channel showing how I did that and why. carburetors were always get you home. That’s one good thing about the carburetors..
I finally have my 2010 Honda nt700 owner sorted. I’ve done some changes hopefully for the better, on eBay I bought a set of gold wing replacement foot pegs. They are wider and longer and they go right on. They were $17.50 on eBay, free shipping, a slightly taller windshield that has a curve to it at the top. And it does a very good job of reducing buffing. .. I put Helibar Bar risers on my machine. They move the bars back 3 inches and up 5 inches. of course I replaced the spark plug caps which are a subject of almost recall by Honda when they discovered that these things caused problems, especially in hotter climates. Rather than do a worldwide recall they just decided to replace the spark plug caps on every NT 700 that ever comes into a Honda dealership for free. I also put foam grips on. I had heated grips on at the end of 2023, and into 2024 here in western Pennsylvania USA. But I didn’t like the field so I took them off and put foam grips on.. I will be putting the heated grips back on here pretty soon for the best time of year to ride, October, November..
I also got the color matched trunk with the rack. At first, I wasn’t crazy about the look, but it has become so. indispensable, especially in cool weather, when I like to carry my heated vest, and an additional turtleneck sweatshirt, and maybe the liner for my leather jackets in addition to all the other necessities, like things to clean the windshield of bugs, Mabs, basic tools, rain, suit, electric tire pump and plug kit, water, first aid kit, jumper cables, things like that..
this machine has become my do it all machine except for long distance. I have a Yamaha royal star venture, my third, Venture since 1986. I just like them. They are as simple as a VW air cooled bug to work on, and they have no known faults… I had a GL 1800 Goldwing. Really a pain in the ass to work on just doing simple things like just change the near filter. If you take it to a shop to have it done that’s five hours labor at $125 an hour just to change the air filter.. it’s a 20 minute job on a venture to change both air filters, one on each side..
anyway, I’m getting carried away, I’m looking forward to watching your videos on RUclips to pick up little tidbits. Here in Western Pennsylvania I have only seen one other auntie 700 in my life, and that was at a dealer, he was selling it, I never impulse buy I always think about it, when I went back to buy it a few days later it had already sold. But since then, I have never seen one of these machines on the street ever. They are rarer than hens teeth…

Saturday (20th) my new to me BMW R45 arrived, it will be 40 years registered on the 8th August. Has all it's MOT's to back up its mileage of 4500. Put 100 miles on it on Sunday, though not at any speed as the front brake is terrible! New pads and braided lines ordered. Good luck with your purchase, get some miles on it!

Best cheap way of cleaning a rusty tank is harpic power plus 10x black one £2 or less per bottle ( look at the ingredients look for the one with the higher concentration of hydrochloric acid you need the 9g one not 5g), fill it with a full bottle of that and warm water, then just leave or if its really bad add some nuts and shake about after an hour or two of sitting. it will have been the water the e10 fuel attracts when left sat. no need to coat the inside just fill with fuel, or add a small amount of light oil and shake about to coat the inside until you need to add fuel.

I sold my 2003 Deauville 650 about 8 weeks ago, looked everywhere for a 700, but couldn't find the right bike, so i ended up buying a 2015 NC 750 S, had i waited 2 weeks i would have made a bid on you're 700, just could not wait. someone will snap it up. thanks for sharing.

Pity the tank wasn't stored full as it wouldn't have rusted anywhere near as badly. If you want a non acidic way of de-rusting the tank you can use black treacle diluted with water. It takes ages, is really cheap and works really well, but it's very slow. If you want to speed it it up, you can buy commercial versions like Evaporust or Nitromors Non Hazardous. The great thing about the non acidic rust removers is they don't attack the base metal, they just remove the rust. Really good for thin sheet steel parts like petrol tanks.
