    I think a good way to set up a nuzlocke randomizer would be to make it so that the spawn chance of any given Pokémon is directly proportional to their actual viability in the run. Most of the time, you’ll be running with trash Pokémon and making do, with the few strong Pokémon you find throughout the run serving as your aces or as long-term win conditions. When that legendary in the grass shows up in one out of every like, three runs, it actually feels like a breath of fresh air instead of just a gimmick.
    This also makes it a lot rarer that opponents just have legendaries that cubstomp your entire team. Most of the time, you’ll see a couple of big difficulty spikes per run that require more effort. You *could* have it so that certain trainers get to reroll for rarer Pokémon, though…

    A great restriction I put in my randomized nuzlockes is I implement a maximum average base stat total for my team. For example in my Platinum playthrough I'm doing right now, I have an average base stat limit of 500 (3000 total across 6 pokemon).
    So if you want a Groudon on your team (670 BST), you'd need a Pokemon with a 330 BST to balance it out. Or 2 415s, 3 443s etc. And the Pokemon down there are pretty bad. Mostly NVEs.
    There are some really good Pokemon around 500 BST like Alakazam and Gengar, but the rule is mainly a legendary deterrent. Lower tier legendaries like the legendary birds, beasts and Regis you can usually find a way to fit them in. But usually only 1. And Shedinja just breaks this restriction but hey. I would say in most cases it would likely lead to a easier game assuming the exp cap's are being pulled from the opponents highest exp cap. The most noticable point that would become easier is the pokemon league as the champion's ace will have slow exp scaling which will give all pokemon you use that arent slow exp a higher level cap that in a regular nuzlocke.

You can get a Light Screen TM in the Lilycove Department Store, and if you teach your Starmie recover (which it should get as a Staryu) then you're pretty much good. I think mine knew Surf and Psychic as well (I did a deathless nuzlocke of emerald that I have yet to upload) but pretty much any move combo is good. Just don't die to confusion/crits or run out of power points. Ideally you should stall the kingdra until it uses Struggle

    I’ve always preferred my randomizers as vanilla as possible:
    - starters with two evolutions
    - similar strength
    - legendaries banned
    - trainers have type themes
    Doing one right now and it feels like I didn’t even randomize it

    Wouldn't actually be fire blast the best play instead of slash? It is a strong special move that is boosted by the sun and has a burn chance... Slash and Earthquake would never kill. Slash wouldn't even kill with a crit there so...

      Fire Blast is a 2-3 hit KO without crit, on 85% accuracy, with something like a 90% chance of it being 3. EQ should be a 3 hit KO without crit, but with 100% accuracy.

      @dontmisunderstand6041 3 года назад

      @@DavidS-1278 No, actually. There's a fairly high chance in that scenario of a 3 hit KO with earthquake, even with 0 crits. A significantly higher chance than Fire Blast to 3 hit KO, even with Bulk Up in play. And, even with the Bulk Up, enemy groudon isn't even guaranteed a 2 hit KO, so there's actually a fairly decent chance that you get a 4th attack off before going down.
      So to review, 3 attacks guaranteed with a chance at a 4th. Enemy uses a turn to buff, and then takes either 2 or 3 attacks to KO, with a speed disadvantage. That's how we arrive at the 3-4 figure. The first attack is normal, the rest suffer from the enemy's defense up. Earth quake has a 50-60% chance of straight up winning that fight depending on damage rolls alone. And, of course, failing to 2 hit KO is a loss for enemy groudon.
