PLEASE, PLEESE, PLEEEZ, re-create th bohemian granny squares and stripes sweater vest the Goldie Hawn wears when she leaves and then returns in Butterflies Are Free. The colors are mostly deep red, dark blue but not navy I think red heart has a Soft Navy (that pairs really well with light raspberry btw for an old time look) and either antique gold or a tan color like buttery leather; it may be yellow that I'm seeing but you know how it is when you put some colors together they appear to be a different color?
My eyes are not as good as they once were and even though I am looking at a big screen TV I can't catch all of the details because I can't manipulate the light/brightness on it. I need to borrow somebody's second grader to get into the settings for that. Will you please check into that sweater vest? They really aren't that many granny squares in it and I think there may be a triangle or two.
BTW, is it that you are sensitive to the lanolin or the texture of the wool? Great job on the Rachel sweater. I think I would have made the tan stripes smaller were it me. I'm wide enough, I don't want to look wider than all outdoors!

I had never heard of that movie and just watched the trailer. I need to watch the movie now! The sweater vest looks amazing and I've been looking for some crochet ideas for recreation videos. I am adding this to my list :)
I also would have made the tan stripes thinner but it was down to 1 row so I couldn't get much smaller. That (to me) is the biggest difference between the sweater in the show and the one I made.

@@BreathingYarn I think that sweater vest actually would look amazing on you, mind you, don't make the arm holes too small - unless you're strictly going to wear it as a sleeveless shell/ tank top.. I think this movie was done in the earliest '60s and back then the shirt sleeves were skinny up around the armpit and so were the sweater vests. When the 70 came around sweater vests were still kind of tight in the armpits and the shirts were getting looser so it would pinch up the shirts. Once again sweater vests and jackets had to catch up with the styles of the new shirt collars and shirt sleeves. Oh, by the way, it's probably no wonder that you had not heard about that movie until now it's because you're a baby and I am 62 born in about the year the movie was made. I remember watching Goldie Hawn as a bikinied and painted go-go dancer on the show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.
Do watch the movie the message in it is just as pertinent today as it ever was back then. Be yourself and don't let anyone dictate to you... whether you're a woman or if you're blind. They talked a lot of freedom and Independence but women were still treated as second-class Citizens and even in the hippie communities according to the works of Peter Coyotes two books about the hippie lifestyle and political statements they made, and no matter in which communal living situation, the women were washing the dishes cooking the meals, cleaning up in housekeeping, and taking care of the children as well as doing all the grocery shopping and all the prep and sign painting and everything else for their political whatever you call their rallies in sit-ins and LOVE-ins and whatever else they did, while men looked around drink beer and talk to sports or talked big dreams, tripped on acid or smoke pot. If they were on a communal Farm the women did farm work and all of the other stuff , whereas the men did some work in the fields and then came in and did the pre mentioned stuff.
P.S. towards the end of the movie, sorry for the spoiler, she is leaving and she does walk around the apartment talk to him and you can get around about look at the sweater from several angles front back and sides then she leaves and then she comes back and the lighting is different and she has different action that shows different places in the sweater. And of course the movie ends with the potentiality of Happily Ever After. She was just a little bit slower coming to her realizations than he.
Oops the play came out in 1969 'n the movie came out in 1972. I'm on Tinder hooks waiting for that video. I had requested for someone else to make that sweater and they never did respond to me. I'm grateful, for the reason I mentioned before about my eyes, I'm only 62 but I have a genetic cataract from birth in one of my eyes and I've had problems with high blood sugar since I got gestational diabetes when pregnant... which means all kinds of organ problems.

You're so awesome! I am just beaming reading this, it's so well thought out. Thank you! I cant wait to watch it. Even just watching the trailer, it felt like a movie I could fall in love with and I liked how it felt like a stage play.

@@BreathingYarn Goldie has a lot of good sense to share even though she's acting like a ditz in Cactus Flower. She's not the titular character, Bergman is, and you don't really find out why the movie is even called that until she realizes who she is because Walter Matthau hasn't figured out who he needs to be because, frankly, Goldie ain't done with him yet! Oh, and there is a starving artist next door to her little apartment, I think he's a novelist.
And you got to see There's a Girl in My Soup with Peter Sellers. Make sure you do NOT miss Death Becomes Her with Meryl Streep. That movie kicks ass! The rapport between them is... it is magical! Bruce Willis's part is in the background but in the foreground as being very important at the same time. If you have seen it and it's been a while, thentreat yourself!
No matter what movie she's in, there's always something important to say, and it gets said. Swing Shift is important as well. It's wild how she can play or act or sound like a ditz, but speak profoundly important things at odd times. In Cactus Flower when it finally slapped me in the forehead like I could have had a V8 moment I had to rewind it to listen to some of the things that hadn't hit me yet. I mean it's like they all of a sudden crescendoed and I realized oh my God she sounds like it ditz, I want to ignore her because she's talking about suicide because she's depressed, but she has all these important things to say, and then she gets all charged up again and gets a fresh breath of air, when the old man dentist Walter Matthau she's dating or was, begins to act a little bit right. She got two awards for that movie.
We'll just watch me go I didn't know I had so much to say about Goldie what I said about her having something important to say is really the reason I like her so much. Heck anybody that can keep my sweetheart Kurt Russell happy for so many years has got to be one hell of a lady with a good head on her shoulders.

LOL. My family watched First Wives Club about a hundred times and I always loved Goldie's performance. I've seen few of her other movies and I love the idea of exploring her other films! I also love one of hollywoods longest standing couples. I've seen many Kurt Russel movies. @@kayceegreer4418

Belated Cast On Tip!!! Use stitch markers to keep track of how many stitches you have cast on :) I put a stitch marker on every 10 stitches, and try to mark off major numbers where needed (50, 100, etc).

I am on a mission right now to make socks for my self, but I will finish my sweater that I am making as well soon.

I also used to scroll on my phone for an hour a day. I deleted those apps and now have a spare hour of my day. It’s nothing really magical/revolutionary. You’ve likely heard all this before. It is hard for me to accept that I can’t actually do all the things so I have to decide to do the things most important to me. I can’t cook dinner and clean and kick butt at work and knit a sweater and squeeze in a workout all in one day. Some things had to go.

I love knitting and crocheting, but making clothes stresses me out. This video just reconfirms that, even though it's enjoyable to watch, lol. I'm sticking with blankets, hats, and scarves. Lol.

That’s how I feel about blankets. I’ll stick to happily watching someone else make them 🥰

😊 I was a Teenager in the 90s and we all wore that Jumper. At least in Switzerland. Of course not selfmade. You did a great job! It's just for a person my age.... why would you bring that back 😅 guess 70s children asked themselfes the same thing as we tried to recreate theire clothing

I feel the same seeing teenagers around me wearing clothes from the early 2000s and I cringe so hard 😂

You can always unravel your swatch and use it in your project 😊 or make a swatch blanket made up of all the swatches you’ve ever made. But also, the world won’t come crashing down if you don’t swatch. You do you! 😊

I’m watching 90210 reruns, and the illustrious Kelly Taylor also wore this sweater in episode “Up In Flames” 🤍🤎🖤
