    This explains why keto worked for me in my early 30’s and then not at all at 38. Now I’m 41, I just finished my second 72 hour fast and 2 days later I’ve had 3 skin tags just fall off…. The pain that has been in my hip for 5 years is 100% gone! Thank you Dr Mindy!!!

      Fasting or giving up smoking isn't easy no matter what. I cook for my daughter when I'm fasting. it isn't easy but it isn't easy when I'm walking past a bakery either, or sitting at home alone on the couch.

      I watch my grandchildren aged 3 & 9; quite often during my fasting. I have meal prepped a lot and make them lots of fatty meats, bacon & have cut up cheeses, oranges and Berries. This year I’ve cut out:
      All grains,
      all sweetners,
      I’m eating egg yokes blended into my coffee too. Along with hole pure butter and either coconut or olive oil in my hot drink; be it hot water, hot tea, hot coffee. I’ve also felt better and have had better numbers doing the Sardine in pure olive oil fasts with dr. Boz and I have cleaned up my diet eating the Proper Human Diet, by Dr. Ken Berry.

      but is doable. Dont fast when the whole family is at home is my tip. So a 24 hour fast for me is ok on weekends but not that 48 hour happening until they are gone to school and work.

    I have mixed in some 72-hour fasts into my diet. My husband poo-pood it saying he'd watched this 30 year old bloke fast for 72 hours, and he didn't lose weight blah blah blah. I pointed out he isn't a 50 year old per-menopausal woman! I lose around 3lb each time, which stays off! And I feel fantastic, my silent reflux has improved and so has my arthritis.

    Same thing happened to me starting in my mid thirties. By age 37, I hit that wall hard and my female older lady Dr told me I was too young for that to be happening and that I “must not be doing all the things I think in doing.” I left her office in tears because I knew I was breaking my neck trying to eat right, exercising, keep my memory, sleep, all the things. I don’t know how I would have made it through my forties without the patience and care of my husband. I am a blessed lady and I hope everyone can find a great support system, starting with this video.

    The symptoms hit me like a truck. At 56, everything came at once and I couldn't get quick solutions because most women I asked simply told me "you'll be okay".... Not quick fixes. Only one woman offered help, and I sincerely thank her to this day.

    Fasting is amazing, I’m a Muslim and it’s Ramadan, I had hip pain so much that I cannot seat on toilet properly lol… but just the third day of Ramadan the pain was gone Alhamdulilah

    I lost 63 lbs in 2022. Last summer (2023) i became my grandbaby's caretaker. Being far less active not by choice has led me to gain almost 20 lbs. Ive since entered menopause & am having a problem loosing the extra weight. The sleeplessness is kicking my tail. Trying to find balance with my new lifestyle. I eat clean & have easily done IF 20-4. Just want to loose the 20 lbs that won't move.

    I am over 65 and need to lose weight for a few reasons. High blood pressure, cholesterol, Asthma and(due to recent car accidents) back ache. I do 15 hours fasting regularly. Little walking about twice a week too. Do my own house work. But I have not lost a pound for the last two years. Often put a 6 pound up and work hard for months to bring it down 😢. Living alone and want to be alive and active. Lack of motivation. Much appreciated your help and advice 💐🙏🇮🇪☘️Ama from Ireland.

      Join a gym or health club. See if you can find one with free classes, and especially for seniors (50+ and they don’t check). Start with the easier types of yoga, strength classes. You might have to pay for pilates. Spend maybe 3-4 years getting limber and fitter again, then pop for a trainer and do weights and resistance training and balance exercises.
      You want to enjoy your later years? This is the best way for most older adults. Lifting heavy things.

      Vary your fasts. Do 15, 20, even 36 (once a week). Also, stop eating processed foods. I lost 25 lbs in 4 months after I stopped the processed foods. See videos by Dr Jamnadas

      As a trainer and nutrition coach I would say to increase protein and start weight training 2-3 times a week and make sure those walks count. Really up the intensity not just leisure walk. You may be too under calories as well. We can’t starve ourselves all the time. Hope this helps get something moving

      I'm doing plant based so carbs such as breads and pastas. Beans for protein & nuts. I'm also eating tuna for my fatty liver. Laying of cheese and fats, only eating healthy fats like olive oil and avocado. I exercise on my exercise bike every other day to get 10k steps. Just been doing it for a few weeks and already losing and sleeping better.

    I’m 45 (46 this year) and listening to it after my spontaneous pregnancy which ended up with a miscarriage at 16 weeks. Basically I want to lose weight which I gained during pregnancy and forget about it for good….. 💔 good luck for all of you, lovely people

    I lost 35kg from December 2023 to Now March 2024.no more ulcers, no more high blood pressure, hypertension is gone. Body pains gone clear thinking I look younger than 54 years which is my age. Thank you Dr Mindy for your teaching. Currently I am on day 4 of water fasting.

      I can’t lose weight, I’m post Menopausal with fatty liver desease and can not lose weight, can’t work out because of injuries, can do water aerobics. I intermittently fast all my life because I’m not hungry in the morning. Just started liver therapy with natural herbs. Retain 8 lbs of water at end of day. Help!!

    Im trying to eat mostly plant based and low-carb life since I have a fatty liver and low fat. Seems like it's helping, and my stomach is getting smaller, and im starting to lose weight. It's only been a few weeks. I am in my late 50's. Trying to exercise every other day as well.

    I am 61 and have lost 186 pounds. I am doing 16/8. I do not eat bread sugar flour or wheat. I am stuck and need to loose 25 more pounds per the video I will try a longer fast. I must admit my sleep sucks so I am working on this. This video helped my a great deal!

    I am 49 and just in perimenopause the last year I think. I’m the oldest sister and my Mom had to get her organs out early, so I feel I have no one to warn me about what is happening. So hard to know these things! I just started shorter exercises and been fasting again and losing some pounds and feeling better! Thanks for talking about this!

      @mazsroy9 I am going to be 72 at the end of May. I heard the sweet spot for intermittent fasting for post menopausal women is 20:4. Fasting twenty hours due to the lack of estrogen in our bodies and what is going on with the other hormones at our age. And walking is the very best exercise we can do for our bodies and mind. I hope to lose another ten pounds or continue to lose additional inches before summer.

    I don’t like the scales. My waist measurement is 30”.. I m doing a workout for stomach / body workout.
    I’m now wear size 8-6 Jean. Small for a v neck pullover shirt. I still have fat- on my middle-( belly / back) I’m now doing wall Pilates by Rachel . More muscle & toned. >> I’ve added ltaurine , collagen, .. I going to carrot ( raw juicing). To drop 30 lbs. in 30 days. A great fasting. For 30 days. 6 carrots is =1 meal. I did this 1995. Kept weight off over 5 yrs. Detoxed body for the following 5 years. Followed w/ plant based protein meal replacement 2012-2018.. then something happened I just swelled up ! Plum from a fall . Now on a meal plan I ve dropped the gain of fluid in the body. .. fish, chicken rib eye steak.. veg, 1/2 starch.. late nite snack . Breakfast. I now eat eggs. ..
    time to go. Back to fast carrots.
    Plant based meal replacement protein. ..

    Hey Dr Mindy, what are your thoughts on xylitol? I am eating a lot more keto style but I do still like a little bit of sweet after my meal. At the moment something like a hot chocolate with xylitol and coconut milk is my treat. Is xylitol ok or do I need to kick my sweet habit completely? I have just completed my first 36hour fast, amazed I could do it and I feel incredible, thank you!

    My period stopped 56-57 & holy shit - the leg cramps if I eat a little sugar now. Incredible! I cant touch it anymore. I am doing a 36 hour fast & plan on doing as much as I can !

    Wish you were around when I was 42. Stress, bad diet, crazy hard life events, home remodel with toxins and then my ovaries saying I quit put me into panic attacks 3x a day blew up 40#. But I overcame and entered Oriental Medicine school. Lost and gained weight a few times since then and now have realized keto- fastng is the only way I can lose weight at 60 with insulin resistance. ( really gave in to popcorn and some chocolate for a bit there)down about 20# since i started in Feb and feel more feminine again. 30# more to go.

    I had a hysterectomy at 46, all my abdominal organs were prolasped, so they decided to take my uterous, not my fallopian tubes instead of oitting it back in place. How do I know when my cycle is about to begin? Thanks

    I was doing high protein and actually gained 8 lbs beyond the muscle weight… so now I follow the 30 rule. I eat enough protein to keep my muscle mass. Since I lowered my protein back down… I’ve started feeling normal again and losing weight, but keeping my muscle.

      This happened to me as well very recently. I went to zym, weight lifted religiously for 2 months, ate way more protein n ate clean mostly. Ended up gaining muscle and lot more fat, 8-9 lbs. I gave up zym since this was not working as I hoped, now I am losing muscle but the fat is going up. Please share what has helped you with losing weight. Thanks

      @@nk9458This is Foodie Life (my other channel) I started doing time restricted eating and taking Berberine. I eat at 10am, 2pm and 5 pm. I know a lot of people give up breakfast. I’m just not ready yet for that. I still lift… at much lower weights. Instead of 60 lbs… I lift 40 lbs on circuit machines. No more stress… still keeping my muscle mass and now losing weight. I think I was just lifting too heavy. Try going down alot on your weights 😊 and extend your recover time.

    Been doing Intermittent dieting for 15 mo. I am 70 yrs old lost 24 lbs. but still have the tummy fat. I also do walking at least 2 times a week for an hour. Wondering if I should get on DHEA? No problem sleeping, eat whole foods only good fats. Just can't get rid of the fat around my waste and have a little of the apron tummy! Right now I am 135 lbs. I am 5 ft tall.

    The one thing that popped out to me is that if you don't sleep, you won't lose weight. What is the sleep solution? I haven't slept well and I can't even say how long. Wake up bodyaches, night sweats or just insomnia. 30 pounds even with fasting keto. So if anyone has any answers on how to sleep, that would be awesome.

      Progesterone and magnesium glycinate when I'm getting ready for bed, and sometimes a little cbd oil has helped.

    How do you know if you are eating 50 grams of carbs every day (coming from vegetables) ? Are brocolli/cauliflour/cabbage/salads etc... all 100% carbs, meaning when you weigh of 50 grams f.e. of raw Broccoli, you will have exactly 50 grams of healthy carbs ? Or how does this work ?
    I would be happy if someone could tell me....

      Search internet for carb count for vegetables or do it one at a time “nutritional content broccoli” take the carb count and subtract the fiber count to give you net carbs. Need to know ounces normally to get a good count. 91 grams of broccoli is 6 grams of carbs, 2.4 grams fiber for 3.6 net carbs.

    I gain weight easy if I eat anything that contains fat, refined sugar. I try to just non starchy vegeetables, all kinds of fruits, and Legumes for my protein instead of animal or dairy products or processed foods and Fast foods and most restrained that do not have an all you can eat salad bar. I try to eat a 3 pound salad with a variety of non starchy vegetables and fruit for desert.

    I feel so amazing and sleep so good on keto , I do still get me period but very random times, but as soon as I add a little more carb like fruits or potatoes sweet potatoes, I instantly don’t sleep good , should i still add them or what’s your thoughts, my doctor wants me to still eat them and then just take sleeping pills but I don’t feel like that’s the best for my health

      There other ways to encourage your body/mind to sleep. There is an endless variety of music videos to sleep by: I don’t like the ones with rain, waves, or piano music-they keep me awake. Google 7 hrs 7 chakra music youtube. The best channels I’ve found are Inner Lotus and Meditative Mind, but you choose what lulls YOU to sleep. There are ones that last 7 or 8 hours. I turn the volume down and it helps a lot to get to sleep and stay asleep.

      So many fermented foods are cruciferous veg, which are extremely problematic for anyone with thyroid issues. Any I’ve ever tried, even just a spoonful gives me gas-always happened during yoga class! Never again!

      I highly recommend Dr. Eric Berg videos, he has a lot of detailed information. You may need to heal your gut first. Maybe try meat, fish, eggs then add some leafy greens etc later and see how your body reacts❤

    Well now I know why weight coming off slow my problem is I don't eat all day But I do during day drink 8 glasses of fresh lemon water Then eat at 6pm at night now I see why my belly won't budge. I used to work out like a maniac Run 6 10 miles lift weight walk another 4 miles while working all day I'm 52 but my running stopped at 50 no energy knees hurting Now I got no motivation & the last year just totally fell off of eatting right or I'd go 3 mo of no carbs but fruit no processed junk I'd do good but then I fall off & just eat pressed junk for 2 mo feel like crap & start eatting whole off on off on I miss when I was younger & I could out run my fork Those days are gone
