- In cold weather climates we all know once your feet start getting cold the rest of you gets cold. Sp, for those of us that get the pleasure of working outside all winter we need to keep them warm. Quad City Safety is here to help with some solutions to help you come home safe.
I work in a warehouse freezer. I've had a couple different steel toes, they do good for a few hours, but at around hour 5 it becomes unbearable. I intend on getting composite toe boots here in the beginning of March, but those toe warmers are an absolute lifesaver.
Stay safe and thanks for watching. If we can help when the time comes for you to upgrade please keep us in mind.

Guess I'll get some composite boots soon! Building the transit line in Edmonton, Alberta, and it gets to about -30 to -45C with windchill here.

Steel retains heat, your feet are warm, steel gets warm.......
wondering how this works in -30 degrees
Man I feel like such an idiot now all winter long I’ve been trying to figure out why my toes are so cold at work. Just realized this is the first pair of steel toes I’ve owned. Gonna try to old boot’s tomorrow and see if that changes things.
Oh no! Glad you learned something and holler when you’re ready to get a new pair and need help getting into the right pair. Thanks for watching!
Rubber insulated Dunlop booths number 1 I have always wear Dunlop boots and they are very warm...
Thanks for the input. We appreciate you watching the video!
What is the brand of the socks, pls?
The brand in the video is Wolverine. Thanks for watching!
Have you made a video on how to keep your legs warm ?
We haven't made a video on the topic but there aren't as many solutions out there aimed at legs. I think the best method is to wear a snug fitting base layer with a well insulated and water resistant outer layer. Hopefully that helps and thanks for watching!
what about heat holder socks?
Not super familiar with the brand but looking at the makeup of the sock I would be concerned about them holding moisture. But could definitely be worth a trial to see how they perform. The reviews certainly look overwhelmingly positive. Thanks for watching!
do you think those wolverine socks will last like the darn tough socks ? are they good for on the job in winter?
I’m not as familiar with the durability of darn tough socks for comparison but we’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on the Wolverine socks and they’re definitely warm. Thanks for watching!
@@QuadCitySafetyInc I wear the Darn Tough socks year-round in different weights. The best thing I ever did for my feet. Darn Tough comes with a lifetime guarantee
@@brenthair1228 Glad you found the right socks for you. Thanks for watching!
Can regular muck boots work too?
Muck boots definitely will keep you dry so inherently they will keep you warmer. Especially with warm socks. I’d still say the insulated versions will perform much better in the cold. Thanks for watching!
😊
What brand are the socks
Wolverine. Thanks for watching!
Wool socks all year round for sure
Thanks for watching!
Yeah, buy a pair of 3 buckle half boots. Putting over your shoes your feet won't get cold
Appreciate the video 😎 but I’m bout to learn y’all 💪, All hand and feet warmers do is make your hands and feet sweat, sweat = cold. Steel toes are a waste of money, buy a good composite or carbon toe boot. Secret to keeping hands and feet warm is to keep them dry. Aerosol can deodorant, dove , right guard anything that is antiperspirant, spray your naked feet, socks and boots. Your welcome.
I have sweaty feet, work outdoors in Chicago, I wear a light moisture wicking sock with 400g thinsulate boots, my feet stay warm in 20 below, Gloves can do same thing with deodorant but allow room for error depending on thickness of gloves and what you do for work etc…
I appreciate the input and all the advice from experience. I think everything you listed is good advice. I do however think that we’re all built a little different and different things work for different folks. Some tasks also require different solutions. For instance hand warmers really help my hands stay warm when temps are frigid. Thanks for watching!
Cold for most of you is like summer for me lol it gets to -50 celsius a couple times in my winters and averages like -30 all winter
Yikes. No, thanks to that but thanks for watching!
What about working on a fishing boat In cold water ?
Something insulated and waterproof. Would suggest looking something like a Muck boot. Thanks for watching!
@@QuadCitySafetyInc Thank you... any other advice for working a on a cold fishing boat ?
Waterproof insulated gloves with rubber palm coating, hand warmers. Definitely something windproof on your face. Strong base layer clothing under your clothing and waterproof coat/bib. Happy to send you some links if you want to send email to updates@quadcitysafety.com
@@QuadCitySafetyInc Thank you... I'm moving to Alaska soon
Good info provide links next time.

I remember in boy scout winter outings( a few decades ago) we'd cut a pair of moms panty hose to wear under our socks. Anyone ever do this or know why we did?
I’ve heard of that... I think the idea is similar to some base layer gear using compression. There are better more “modern” solutions out there now, but I think that’s a cheap way that might help better than wearing nothing.
footies + tube socks and you're good.
Thanks for adding to the conversation and for watching!
What the hell is "mariano" wool?
Muur•ee•know
WRONG! And absolutely unsafe. Do NOT put Toe Warmers on your feet. They go on the outside of your SOCK. Never put any warmer directly on your skin. Read the directions on the package!
You’re making quite the leap that we’re instructing someone to put toe warmers against their bare feet inside of their socks. They stick to the outside of your socks. Thanks for watching the video and commenting though!
