Rule number one, Respect Private Property!! Most USFS and BLM roads are public roads even when they cross private property. On the other hand some are not public roads and are posted No Trespassing. I have been driving USDS and BLM roads for 50 years and never heard about orange post?? As far as gates are concerned. If the gate is open leave it open, if it is closed close it after you pass through. Fences and gates are to separate property ownerships but also to control movement of stock.

Thank you for the info. Yeah I was basically following what my friends who have a bit more knowledge take the lead on it. As far the gates, there were no “no trespassing” sign and we closed the gate when we went through as it was closed when we got there. Thanks for watching!
