Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC Review - The Final Verdict

- Опубликовано: 24 июл 2024
- Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, while having been out on the PS5 for a little over 2 years now, has finally made its way onto the PC. Along with its jump to a new platform, the game has also brought with it a hefty list of hardware requirements, including the need for high-speed storage.
The game mixes 3D platforming with run-and-gun gameplay to offer one of the more unique takes on a genre that some believe peaked during the PS2 generation. Along with its gorgeous visuals and bright, cheerful color palette, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart also brings with it an arsenal of weapons that is as absurd as it is fun.
With its jump to PC, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart also gets some new features, including improved ambient occlusion with ray-tracing, and even support for DirectStorage 1.2 to make use of your GPU for decompressing the game’s files, leading to faster potential load times, if you have the hardware to support it. I'm just glad to see ratchet and clank on PC now! Miss this series a lot. Haven't played since a kid back in the console days. There's a huge lack of adventure games like this and this is a timeless classic.
get a ps2 emulator
Playing on PC, Stunning, eye candy, funny, likeable characters and cinematic, a joy to play, a PS3 or even PS4 would explode if it tried to run this one, this one is a follow-up to the 2016 reboot movie, Ratchet and Clank, most games should not be to serious, but an easy going pastime. not much of a gamer anymore except for historic games
This Game has one of the best graphics i have ever seen. The graphics are on a movie level. Sonys studios are on another level and leagues ahead of the rest
I remember playing Ratch & Clank on the PS3, i was amazed by the graphics in these games even back then. Its one of the best looking titles on PS3 if you ask me.
Better on ps5 crazy
@@AndrewTSqYeah I agree. I loved Rift Apart, but Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time is my favorite game out of the entire franchise. Weapons having different attachments and dogfights in space was a true treat that I hoped would've returned in Rift Apart. Great game nonetheless 👍🏾
@@AndrewTSq The games have always been a technical marvel, even back in the ps2 era. The graphics and animations of the first game were considered top notch.
You must be new to games.
I’ve played the OG 3 R&C games along with deadlocked and the reboot. I never played Rift Apart until I saw it was available on PC and for some reason the gameplay is so good it reminds me of the old games. Graphics are crazy good for a “cartoony” art style type of game. Although I hear a lot about the story being short, I think it was good. I definitely recommend this game.
It's almost miracullous how optimized the game is even for not the newest state of the art decks. I play on an almost 13 yrs old motherboard (one of the very first i7 boards), 16GB RAM and an RTX 2060 Super and still the game runs almost without stuttering and frame drops on medium settings. After this experience I think there is almost no excuse for many other games not running as smooth as this.
You kidding right, you talking as of you played this on some i5
An i7 is an i7 whether it came 5 years ego
And also the specs you listed isn't a low end PC specs
@@Emma_madison Even A Sandy Bridge i7 is slower for gaming than a modern i3. It has more cores, but single core performance is most commonly important for gaming. In fact, you can pick up Intel Xeons for extremely cheap, and they oftentimes have comparable performance to i7's for lower prices due to Server OEM overstock etc. I used a Xeon e3-1270 and although it was and still is a very good chip, the difference between that and a current Ryzen 5 is staggering. Over time core counts have increased and standard operating frequencies have also increased.
@@Emma_madison Oh, and the original lga 1155 sockets only had support for PCIE 2.0 iirc, which nowadays would be considered a fairly significant bottleneck.
@@Emma_madisonHoly fuck you're out of touch with pc parts.
Definitely worth the wait, I have mostly been Microsoft oriented due to my father teaching computer science so we've always had computers in our home since dos, I understand what I've been missing all this time there is a certain charm this game has and I can only imagine how special the Jak series, God of War, Horizon, Last of us, Uncharted games were and are when they came out but being able to experience this on a PC is remarkable, I finally understand what I have missed out on owning every Xbox since 2001 now I did of course play some of the classics multiplayer games at a friend's house for example but games like these are made to be experienced on their own. My first console was an N64 and there are so many titles that left an impression on me but on Xbox the only title I remember vividly were Halo, Star Wars knights of the old republic series and the Gears of War series.
I was getting major delays with the loading on SSD, though realised was a computer issue some programs I was using were causing major memory leak issues, once I rebooted was fine
One of the biggest surprise in my gaming life. Nearly the same level of Fun And creativity as last Super Mario. Super game with probably best graphic i ever seen....
The graphic and the entire game is amazing I played it through on PC and I can just recommend. I am going to play it again and max it out. I love the weapon upgrade system.
I runned the game in 3440*1440 165Hz with ultra settings, Ryzen 9 5900X,32 GB RAM 3600Mhz, AMD RX 6900xt FSR was on and the fps didn't drop under 165. Amazing work! Master piece!
Playing this game and just mindblown. One of the best media experience. Its so beautiful to witness.
The game looks and runs fantastic on my Steam Deck as well as my PC even though the infamous Pocket Dimension glitch I heard so much about on PS5 is STILL present on PC. I never played the PS5 version but I remember hearing about this glitch so I find it baffling why this glitch hasn't been fixed still 2 years later. Really apart from the glitch mentioned I did notice a slight delay on Steam Deck during the scene when Ratchet is passing through the dimensions after defeating Dr Nefarious for the first time but apart from this transitions when passing through Rifts on Planets is instant.

The computer I build has a SAMSUNG SSD 970 EVO Plus Series 500GB NVMe M.2 pair with a Seagate ST1000LM049 BarraCuda Pro 1TB Hard Drive should be fine right?
playing this game on a 4090. probably the best looking game ive ever played. it almost looks like a pixar movie
I’m about to purchase this game and I used to play a ratchet and clank game with my brother on the ps3 all the time I think I will love this game
what amazed me is that it's cinematics are better than movies cgi and actually the same in the gameplay plus the optimization is great, I get 90+ fps on ultra 2k settings with an 6700xt and 5700g
same 5700x same gpu 126fps 1440p ulztra all
when I was fighting that giant centipede boss after u make it to the hideout as Rivet I had issues with like when I was shooting my pistol whatever its called the first gun you get at the beginning of the game everytime I hit the boss with it my game had constant stutters and framedrops from 54 fps to like 27 fps like bruh how's that well optimized I dont understand what was wrong all I did was try lowering textures from my medium setting to low to see if it was vram issue during the boss fight but no its still had the same issue its hard to explain but man I dont get what happened there but I endured it and after that it was fine up in the 53 to sometimes 60 fps range
defiantly plan on buying this now
Games today even on low settings still look pretty damn good!!
✌️ ❤
I love ratchet and clank rift apart it’s really awesome game especially on the ps5
Better Looking than Cyberpunk a eye fest of a game with superiour gameplay game of the year.
I really like this game. Great graphics and gameplay. Run at 55 fps native with all settings maxed out including ray tracing , but without dlss2 or frame generation dlss3. With dlss2 it runs at abot 100 fps, on a 10700k with a 4060 ti . With dlss3 frame generation it runs over 120 fps.
why is no one pointing out that this is the first-ever R&C game on PC? That is MIND BLOWING and hopefully Insomniac will remaster the R&C: Future games, would love to have these on PC as well
It's so easy to accidentally delete your save game with how stupid the menu is. If you hit Y and A really quickly it will delete your save file. I did that instead of hitting B and A because I forgot which botton let you quit out the game.
Didn't have the issues you described and I'm running a 13700k, 32 GB RAM, 3060 Ti, and a 980 Pro NVME.
What is your resolution?
Man I hope this is successful enough for Sony to want to remaster the originals and bring them to PC
I play on 4k with 2060 s.high setting dlss balanced with 50 fps.looks amazing
One of the pretties games I have ever seen on PC. And runs great with NVME & Radeon 7900 XTX
Hey gaming Bolt, You need to upgrade your pc as reviewer. upgrading r5 5600 with rtx 4070. will surely be more helpful
This game literally gives you a great Game & a great Movie in one.
It runs on other storage options and that's what matters
I have this on a standard 3.5 SSD with specs that are more outdated than yours on High and 3440 x 1440P without hiccups. Not sure you need a M.2 SSD to make this run flawlessly. Average FPS 90
Which GPU do you have?
with what gpu?
For me,no problems at all.The game runs great,it is fun amd looks like a lixar movie.
Same
Yeah but the tear section is confirmed that are rough even on Nvmi ssd on high end pcs " digital foundry nexus gamer and Nick all pc experts but again that's compared to the ps5
Holy Depth of Field!
1440p All graphic settings on High and Ray Tracing all on High and this game is freakin gorgeous !!! Yet on Ultra it runs very smoothly but than RT would be a no go as this game is too much Vram hungry, so high+ rt high is the sweet spot.
Played this on ps5 have to say loved it but I feel like this game should be longer and have more depth to it I got the platinum in I want to say 14 hrs if that may be wrong but feel like the older games had more to them or at least some of them extremely beautiful game though
It is very good
What game is your favorite out of all of them?
@@xMiketheManx2 and 3 are very good. Deadlock is a lot of fun as well
@@WindHashira My favorite one is A Crack in Time that came out on PS3.
@@xMiketheManx probably a crack in time or the first game that was remade for ps4 I mean I would have to say a few others as well lol
Can you play it with a witeless xbox controller?
Its hard to believe Ratchet and Clank rift apart is over 2 years old game because it still looks new game. Its amazing the game is now on pc too but still I'll buy a ps5 and play that Rift apart with Ps5. 🌌🚀🦊🤖
Lmao 2 years is still not that old
@@Eddycut GTA V is from 2013, so no 2 years is like still fresh baked bread compared to other titles :)
was able to play this game at max settings 1080p with rt at 60 fps, i have 3060ti with i5 11400f
Sony should let NIXXES studio to port all their games to pc.
That's WHY Sony bought them, dude. So they could do the PC ports and the other studios concentrate on their other projects.
game doesnt work well for me at all. I constantly have 100% gpu usage with the Radeon 6600 while the power draw is around 60 70W from the maximum of 120W. And changing resolution and settings barely made a differnce. My guess is that it has issues with Radeon cards or something
Yes it does but they are working on various patches.

My rx6700xt works fine tho

its perfectly fine on good enough hardware
Pc can’t run it.. needs ‘oPtimiZatshon’
@maggiflavordpot its not textures screen space lighting is all better on ps5 it needs few patches

Is it the game's fault that it slows down at high settings, when you have mid range hardware, ?

If anyone wonders I had on problems on my 3070 ti
3060TI is beefy ?
ngl i hope down the line they do a full pc release of the series
Not likely, better find an emulator that you can play, Sony isn't big on Backwards Compatibility
I agree, but at least in the mind time you can use emulation.
RPCS3 is a phenomenal emulator for the old games.
@@MM1771. Did that only have the PS2 era games or also the PS3 era, can't remember off the top of my head?
Edit: wrote the Wrong PS Generation -_-
@@chriswihulu there’s a PS2 (PCSX2) and PS3 (RPCS3) emulator. They both work incredibly well. I personally prefer RPCS3 since most classic PS2 games were remastered by Sony for the PS3 and it just looks so much better.
From my experience, RPCS3 will give you the best experience possible.
mine works on 126fps on ultra 1440p on rx6700xt
Did you just say modest and 3600 in the same sentence...? Them some fightin' words there.
He said it like that because despite his beefy PC specs, he still had to run the game on medium quality.
@@CarnivorousHypertrophyi dont think playing on a 3060 is beefy pc specs
It looks very good and stylish, but I would still say it's in the same "tier" as Psychonauts 2 in terms of visuals.
I'm ashamed that Digital Foundry hasn't mentioned anything about the frame rate when surrounded by civilian areas.
Tbh I'll wait for a sale as much as a Ratchet fan. Probably buy Armored Core 6 instead.
Y’all really have to pick and choose what games you want when it comes out ? I must be a gamer gamer I buy everything
@@BROOKLYNBORN1994Right me too. Armored Core 6 , Mortal Kombat 1, Spiderman 2, Sonic: Superstars, Alan Wake 2, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Assassin's Creed: Mirage. All of these are Day 1 purchases.

In 3-4 months it will in better shape. it need some patches. great game.
im hoping sony adds afew games to pc that people really want like bloodborn and demon souls
And ghost of Tsushima 😢
50fps? You know this game has DLSS right?
2 year's since its release and no game graphics cant even come close
Don’t worry. Even consoles have trouble with frame rate.
How does cyberpunk 2077 run better than ratchet and clank?
It can get 1440p high settings 60fps. Ratchet & Clank struggles at medium settings
optimizacion
2:09 that doesnt sound like a good port if ur having to run it at medium. The ps5 runs it at high and is using slightly weaker hardware than that pc. 2080 super/3060ti should be able to fo alot better than that
Im using the same specs as him, ryzen 5 3600 and 3060ti and I can play the game at max settings at 4k so he has something wrong with his system
@ZZeRowlol how don't u run out of vram. Plus I'm guessing without rt right
@@lordadz1615 yeah I don't use ray tracing because it will just automatically crash my game at 4k max due to vram but without ray tracing everything works fine and Vram doesn't seem to be an issue unless I use rt
@@ZZeRowlol do u get 60 or 30
@@lordadz1615 I can hit 60 but its mostly 45 fps which is still very playable
On the steam deck I didn't have a problem playing the game and it never had a problem with loading slowly because steam deck comes with an SSD Unlike PS5 or consoles that just figured out you should run with an SSD because it loads faster I have been on PC for almost 20 years and SS d's have always been a mainstay on PC Let's face it we live in the future where we can play Elden ring and spider man on the go even it low settings if you have to this is amazing
The game looks amazing even with ray tracing off
The story was wholesome and well pace.
Unfortunately, I run with a LOT of gameplay glitches even on the puzzle levels which were quite frustrating.
Things like a delay on the weapon shortcut while in combat which sometimes wasn't responsive and I had to press the d-pad multiple times to switch. I eventually rely more on the wheel weapon selection instead.
Also, I had a massive frame drop-down to 20fps on the last mission for some reason.
The game was fun and I am glad I played it but the technical glitches on pc were pretty disappointing. I guess the game wasn't fully optimized for release.
The take away of this video. Use an NVME drive
don't play this game without an SSD
Don't tell me what to do. I'm going to play on my 5000 rmp sata 2 hard drive.
1080p is good enough
PS5 version has none of the problems highlighted in this video.
He makes that pretty clear in the video
4 minutes intro of the guy saying his pc is old smh
This game plays over 60fps on a 5400rpm hdd - Ultra graphic settings enabled.
The gaming media is an embarrasment. They are lying to gamers so they invest in Playstation alone while sabotaging Nintendo and Xbox with overreactions over everything.
bro it looks so broken lol, looks way better on my ps5 uncapped
Aaaah so it suffers from the console triple A syndrome of more movie less actual gaming.
Crazy it looks better on ps5 then a 4090 they need fix some lighting texture issues
Best graphics game
If only the writing and the jokes weren't so utterly horrible
My computer runs this game flawlessly . RTX 4080 i7 13700f 32 GB of ram Samsung NVME SSD this game is incredible. Played this on ps5 enjoying my time way more on pc
Why? Really it looks better on ps5 sadly, water etc is missing screen space reflections, textures are wonky, ps5 is still best place to play till they fix it a bit, i know cause i have a 4070 and it just looks better on ps5 right now, sure the 70 80fps i can get feels good deal smoother but it also drops on big moments, again ps5 does not, truly gone are the days where pc changes the expirence or just blows console version away

It's funny childish/cartoon arcade game, but not even a close to 9. Graphics is also not ported well for pc and it is good but certainly not "stunning" (under light effects game engine is still old cranky ps4). All in all - at best this game is 7.5 of 10.
