- Time for a MDCU tutorial with Austin and Philipp! Join them as them fly their A320 from Stuttgart to Frankfurt and learn all the procedures.
Then try it for yourself in X-Plane 12! www.x-plane.com/try-it - Наука
I love it how Austin is open if he doesn't know something, especially in an area he specializes in, in aeronautics!
He's acting here. He knows how to do it, hence him being the first person to call it scratchpad lol
X-plane wouldn’t be what it is if Austin couldn’t delegate and make the platform open to 3rd parties.
Austin is an expert in flight modeling and he’s probably picked up a lot through his work on Xavion but he can’t also be an expert in the avionics of all Airbus models. There’s just way too much detail
Airbus didn't invent the term scratchpad, I don't think he is acting very much. Scratchpad is a common term for free text entry in any FMS or FMS derivative.@@TimAyro
@@TimAyro and told Philips to use the term Line Select Keys :) . Few other thing he did gave away the great act of 2024!
@@TimAyro Don't care if he's acting we as a group of Flight Sim enthusiasts are still learning!
This was so helpful, thank you! I felt that Austin perfectly embodied a newbie (like me) and asked lots of questions. Philipp was a great instructor. Much appreciated!
What a wonderful video, Austin so eager to learn and never afraid to say he doesn't know something - the hallmark of a great person! Philipp is a great instructor!
Austin asking the real questions about the Airbus. Great stuff! Should do one on Zibo mod next. The more detailed the better and even as someone who's flown ToLiss for years, I learned stuff there :)
Thank you Austin so much for making this video and especially for asking so many questions. As a newbie a cannot thank you enough for not being like the most sim or aviation guys out there who just go quickly over stuff because they know it already. I've learnt so much from this, so once again, thank you!
I definitely prefer the realism your going for now. This is awesome to see you learning how most of us sim in your simulation. You should check out the Zibo mod for the 737-800.
Please keep on improving the A330 in X-Plane - i love it !
To make a good guide you need two people: one that knows everything and can easily answer any question and the other one who will ask as many questions as possible. 😁
That was interesting and helpful, thanks.
Excellent demonstration and has cleared some misconceptions of operating the autopilot as well. Well done.
There's no way Austin doesn't know how to use an Airbus MCDU lol.
You clearly don't know Austin then. He's famously hyper focused and if he doesn't need to know something for his work or just interests he doesn't know it. Austin has been famously rather bored with airliners in the past so not surprising at all that he's ignorant how a MCDU works.
Hahaha, I love the balance between Phillip and Austin. Phillip you did a great job taking care of Austin~
Austin’s such a kick! Phillip was the one that let me demo the beta version of X-plane VR in Germany many moons ago. He was just a young whipper snapper back then and hadn’t started flight school yet. You’ve come a long way Phillip!
Thanks for the fun video. Tho it’s a great aircraft, my favorite is the 737. Cheers! 😊
I ❤ Xplane... Best FLIGHT sim (for me). The Laminar team does hard work , everyone of them! I ❤ these episodes and how the they do the PR. Simply the best.
ive been flying the a320 x plane for 2 years now and this is a great tutorial for simmers new to the a320
What add-on was Phillip referring to?
This was better than any flight simming tutorial. Learned so much in this
Man i love austin and the whole LR team,so skilled and dedicated, lets face it,theyre incredible
Great work capt AUSTIN AND YOUR F/O THANKS.
Great job flying and landing!
Austin understands how to do this.He is asking questions and dumbing it down for our benefit.
We need a video of Austin flying the Toliss A321N or the A340 in XP12 now. I know GA is his baby and he generally eschews airliners (and lets others deal with them), I feel like his mind would be blown by the level of detail and systems depth in some of the planes that are out now. You could also show him the CL650.
Great vid.
This video is a goldmine! i always wondered how all this stuff works in real life.
Love seeing these two geniuses interact.
the ToLiSS A320 is perhaps my favourite flight sim addon aircraft of all time
well done austin, good job both in controlling the tempo and translating 👍
Excellent video. Learnt a lot.
Great video , Thx for sharing
Generally, we’d bang the route in, and then check it, rather than going back and forth to the Temp FltPln at every stage of input - generally much faster to do that. (Though in reality the route is usually downloaded via Datalink rather than being put in manually - departures and arrivals aside).
But this’ll work.
Very nice, learned something new today or should I say alot!
Hi Phillip - thanks for this (and all the amazing work you, Austin and the rest of the team do on X-Plane). The performance calculator you showed needs the CG entered in %MAC, but the weight and balance settings page in X-Plane only shows it in inches or centimeters. How do I translate that to %MAC for the A330? Thanks.
Great educational video. Austin was trying a little too hard to pretend he never used a MCDU :)
Cool that someone else noted too. :-)
Meanwhile, there's a queue behind the A320 waiting for runway 25! Seriously though, very useful tutorial... especially for someone who only knows the Boeing FMC.
saludo, interesante video, gracias por compartirlo
Austin You need to implement the Cost Index on the A330! Its a glaring omission I'm surprised still hasn't been addressed!
Fun watching Ron Burgundy being taught how to fly!
Loved seeing Austin yawning just like a real Airbus driver would. All that automation will lull you to sleep. Remember, flying is 99% boredom............1% sheer terror. Lol
Well if you want more excitement, just pull those flight computer fuses above your head like Airbus test pilots do :) In DIRECT law, you can fly the buses like a Cessna. They're well behaved and quite dynamic for a much larger plane. And the excitement won't stop after landing and parking, you'll have to face your employer and might be looking for a new job :)
super video thank you
X-plane is great. This was hard to watch but I enjoyed it
Slightly more complex than my Beechcraft Musketeer :)
Great to see Austin and friend having fun. Very interesting and informative video ..cheers! X-Plane 12 is awesome....Looking forward to the next big update. X-Plane 12.1.0 (graphics!). Keep up the great work guys!
Please moree and moree videos we would like, more specific and longer :)
Thank you Austin for keeping it as simple as possible for us and have a great 2024......................🥳
This actually looks very cool.
yesterday in a piper Aerostar i flew from long beach airport to big bear city in Xplane12
Bravo
I kept wondering why the MCDU was not showing the speed/alt. on the F-PLN. Apparently the solution (not shown in the video or in the MCDU Manual) is to go to the second page in INUIT and press the select-keys next to ZFMC/ZFW and BLOCK to input the information. Speed/Alt. then show in the F-PLN.
Also the manual that follows this video mentions getting info from the EFB. Does the A330 have an EFB?
Whatever happened to not interrupting people who are speaking? The talking over each other was over the top.
Does anybody know the site for performance calculations that Philipp was talking about?
It's amazing how a C172 G1000 is so much simpler and intuitive.
well duh...much simpler aircraft too. And mind you, the A320 is 36+ years old
Outstanding tutorial and thanks for making it. Phillip had me cracking up with his sound effects (whoop!). Oh, little did the passengers know traveling to their destination on this flight. Or just maybe, they did. "Stewardess, bourbon please. Make that two!!" 😁
I always make sound effects for my students. It's my trademark... Ask Roman (founder of FlightFactor) - he was my student for real life instrument, commercial, and flight instructor certificates.
Great video!
I have X-plane and cockpit Panel but how to pupop panel ISIS on MIP Center panel?
GREAT 😁
Tell us your going to put that link of the performance calculator in here but I sure don't see it.
A very helpful video, but they seem to indicate that the Flight Director is controlling the aircraft before the AP is turned on.
12.08rc3: after filling up F-PLN, the previously entered CRZ LVL in INIT page disappears.. .
You need to go to LEVEL D simulator to finish your flight then 😂😂😂
When coms the 12.1 Update ?
Traumhaft😀👍👍
Why is the cockpit so bright? To make it look like X-Plane all lights should be turned off.
Damn Austin keep your hands OFF the throttle ;)
When will x plane 12.1.0 release?
Wow SUPER FUN Thank You
Brilliant!!😂
where is the link for the performance website?
Hope they fix the A330 for XP12 I flew fenix A320 for MSFS and many other AIRBUS like toliss etc and the autopilot never disconnect and this A330 for XP12 many times disconnect really this is a bug and hope you guys can fix it
Is it the tutorial for Laminar A333
EIS1 is beautiful
Ikr. I saw the video and was thinking - ancient CRT technology. I’d never seen one with EIS1 until I got into a United 320 flight deck.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where it is ?
How about a boeing 737?
Does the sim run on XP?
I love X-Plane !
Didn't know this could run on XP12!
Please add the kc 390 Millenium to xplane mobile.
Unexpected that Austin was so noob with FMS/C. Hope theres other on Laminar that drive on getting good FMS. The default B737 needs a serious overhaul.
Just get the Zibo!
a320 EIS1 in XP12????
That was fun! 😊
The essential question. "I'm the pilot flying, right?"
why no vids in 4 months?
how to tell the difference between a sim and the real aircraft: the paint around the Master Caution button has worn away :D
How can any Airline still stick to Boeing?
Great video guys. But Navy Graph? As it's about navigation, it's pronounced navvy graph 😅
How do I get the V speeds? ie V1, VR, V2
from the take off perfomance calculator (that they forgot to link BTW, but probably if you google that + the airliner model there you can find that calculator)or copy paste this and reeplace with proper dots in the URL perfcalc d0t pradz d0t de
Austin, in his old age, is starting to look a bit like Bob Hoover.
is this sim running on xplane??
Nope!!
lmao austin is always so stoned!!
Add the a320 to X-Plane 12 please!!!😊😊😊😊😊
the ToLiSS one is fantastic
@@RoamingAdhocratyeah but expensive
Can a regular civilian (who is rich) just buy one of those $12M simulator??
I imagine that you can buy one much cheaper used, particularly if you want something like a 727 sim, or a DC-10 or something else that would be in less demand in the real world. My airline tried to give away their old 727 simulators - got no takers except one air museum. As to the modern Level D simulators with 6DOF motion and wrap around visual, those are probably repurposed as other airplane types.
Can msfs do this? I'd assume it can
Yes on the Fenix a320 or fbw a320neo
What add-on are you refering to when talking about doing the same in "x-plane too"
Built-in A330.
You'd like the derate if you had to pay for the fuel and engine maintenance!
looking for phillips perfornance cal
Believe it's here: perfcalc.pradz.de/
@@XPlaneOfficial Phillip... Please think seriously about an LR stock Garmin G5000. It is being used IRL to refit many aircraft and comes stock in many newer aircraft. G1000, altho totally functional, is getting a bit old. You might try flying the MSFS Longitude with G5000 to see how it is done. Good Luck Keep up good work.
X plane 12 play jeuto and bueno
lol Austin is just picking up projects from this "promo video"
austin is pretending to not knowing anything hehe
what if i have no way to afford navigraph
chart fox or sky vector
and sim brief is free
Not for me ! *Only the Boeing 737 rules !*
Thanks, but think I will stick with the GA airplanes. Did not stay to the end because will never use it.
So much for a sterile cockpit!
It could be argued that departure, routing and approach w/ altitudes and speeds and temps, as well as live navigation, are flight-critical details. Also, although they’re not in a typical parking location (e.g., gate), the aircraft is stationary with engines at idle. But, yeah, they both seemed to be enjoying the training flight.
