Thanks for the great feedback! Yes, this is exactly my intention: The videos shall give you the impression that you are sitting with us in the cockpit. Have a good day!
Thank you so much for these videos, they’re utterly fantastic. What is the reason for switching to VS climb mode frequently? Is it to avoid going into ALT* before being given further climb clearance? Thank you!
Thanks for your great feedback! The reason to switch to vertical speed when getting close to the cleared altitude is that we want to avoid TCAS resolution advisories. They may happen if traffic is nearby and above when climbing or below when descending.
I read sometime ago that a modern airliner can be operated by a single pilot. After watching a number of your videos, I strongly disagree with that idea. Even with today's equipment and level of automation (to certain levels) it is still a job for at least 2, very well coordinated pilots. Fantastic job and video! Thanks! Looking forward to the next one on Saturday. Cheers.
Thanks for your great feedback! I fully agree, the planes are made for 2 pilots and there is work for 2 pilots. All important systems are installed with one or two backups. The same is true for the pilots. In case of an incapacitation of one pilot, there is still another pilot left who can safely land the plane.
Hello captain, first of all I want to congratulate you on the excellent videos with good quality and explanation of how aviation actually works! However, I have a request/question, which is, if one day you take a flight to Lisbon, could you make a video? A hug, keep up the good work!!
Thanks for your good feedback! I hope to be scheduled to Lisbon soon. And - for sure - I will try to record a video. But, as always, it may take a while because my duty schedule is always a surprise. Please stay tuned and have a nice day!
Thanks for watching, your good feedback and your request! Sometimes it is possible to include the departure briefings, sometimes not. I will try to include it as often as possible. If you are interested in the setup, I suggest that you watch this video: ruclips.net/video/9ivPYuAgsmA/видео.html It shows a very detailed setup for a typical flight. I hope that helps.
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! We use a performance program from Airbus to calculate the best and optimum settings for the takeoff. Here the optimum takeoff flap setting was 2. This plane is an Airbus A320-216 which provides less power than the Airbus A320-214 which we usually fly.
Wieder ein super Video! Diese Full flight Videos sind ein tolles Format. Vielen Dank für all deine Arbeit daran, Stefan! Eine Frage: Düsseldorf hat doch eine recht lange Bahn - warum wird da flaps 2 verwendet?
Guys! During the level flight there were a couple of waypoints, which consist of 7 symbols, instead of standard 5-letter named waypoints. Why are they called that way and what is the difference between intersection waypoints and these? I’ll appreciate your answers! 48:27 - ABIBINI, for instance
When entering DIRECT TO WITH ABEAM, the flight management system creates abeam waypoints of the original waypoints in the direct to routing. It keeps the old names and adds an AB at the beginning of the name.
These full flight videos are awesome. Especially your camera settings are perfect. At the start of the flights, do you know on which stand/gate you will park at the arrival airport? Are they always the same stands/gates? Who does the planing for this.
Thanks for watching and your helpful feedback! It depends on the airport. At some airports, we use certain stands all the time. At other airports, we can be parked everywhere. Sometimes, we know the stand before the flight. Sometimes, we get the information during the flight. And, even sometimes, we get the information about the parking spot once we are on the ground after leaving the runway. It also may happen that parking spots change because they are still occupied by another airplane.
Thanks! We compare the VLS which is shown on the PFD with the VLS on the MCDU. If the VLS on the PFD is higher, we add the difference to the approach speed on the MCDU. Both VLS are - depending on the airplane software and hardware - calculated by different sources: The PFD VLS is calculated by the FAC computer on the basis of aerodynamical data (angle of attack) and the entered CG from the loadsheet The VLS in the MCDU is calculated on the basis of the entered zero fuel weight from the loadsheet plus the remaining fuel.
We usually use vertical speed when ATC tells us to maintain a certain vertical speed or when we are approaching the cleared altitude or level to reduce the vertical speed to avoid a TCAS resolution advisory when other airplanes are close by.
This video deserves a 5 star grading! My all time fave. You both have the same headset, is it yours or company which always stays in the cockpit? I am looking for a new one, are you allowed to share the name of the headset? 😊
@@hrvjunak5367 Thank you so much for your great feedback! Please tell everybody about my channel. Thanks in advance for your help. The headsets are provided by the airline and stay in the cockpit. The company also provides desinfection towels and individual covers for the ear pieces and microphone. This are all active noise reduction headsets. Some of the headsets are connected to the airplane power supply, some use AA batteries. I do not know the exact model because we use headsets from different manufacturers. If you are allowed to use your own headset, I suggest that you do some tests before you buy one. The flight supply stores are usually providing them at their shop location for individual tests. Also at shows like ILA or Sun and Fun you can test them. The differnce is the size, the pressure on the head and how good the noise reduction works. Also, it will be important to know if you use the headseet only in an Airbus or a Boeing or if you will use it in addition in a single engine propeller aircraft. They are significantly louder in the cockpit compared to the Airbus. Before you buy a headset, please also make sure that the company you fly for accepts the headset in the airplane. There may be a list of approved headsets or you may use any headset which is manufactured in accordance with TSO standards for aviation headsets. My personal recommendation is the Bose A20 headset. I own it and use it on flights with small airplanes. If the company would not provide the headsets and it would be on the approved list, I also would use it in the Airbis cockpit. . In between, there is even a newer model on the market. It is the A30. With this one you can adjust the noise reduction in several steps. This may be even better if you fly small noisy planes and and Airbus or so. Remark: I am not sponsored by Bose. This is just my personal opinion and experience.
Hello, Captain. Thank you so much for your videos. There is no way to read the FCOM thoroughly. Please explain why config 2 is used, on a not very heavy aircraft, using the entire length of the runway. “thanks.
We use a software from Airbus to find the best performance for the given weight, runway, weather .... One goal is to reduce the takeoff thrust via a high "flex temperature". The A320-216 which we used for the flight provides less power than the A320-214 which we use most of the time.

Eine Frage: Düsseldorf hat doch eine recht lange Bahn - warum wird da flaps 2 verwendet?
Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und das sehr gute Feedback! Einen schönen Tag noch!
Guys! During the level flight there were a couple of waypoints, which consist of 7 symbols, instead of standard 5-letter named waypoints. Why are they called that way and what is the difference between intersection waypoints and these? I’ll appreciate your answers! 48:27 - ABIBINI, for instance
it means abeam IBINI (abeam waypoint x in fpl), so you can still check your timings and fuel even if you get a direct
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos to summarise it... it is, what it is... you never know. 😂🤣
Thx for answering my question. ❤️👍
Great video captain! May I ask, what is a VLS check? Can you explain what it is and what the numbers are that you are looking for?
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thank you for the very detailed explanation! Very interesting to know. Thanks!
Brilliant, smooth as
Thank you very much!
Gentlemen another great video .
Thanks for watching and your good feedback!
Thanks for your good feedback!
I love your full flight video ! many thanks !
Continue to make us dream !
Thank you very much for watching and your good feedback!
Thanks Captain for your videos. May I ask you why you use sometime VS instead managed climb. Thanks 😊
We usually use vertical speed when ATC tells us to maintain a certain vertical speed or when we are approaching the cleared altitude or level to reduce the vertical speed to avoid a TCAS resolution advisory when other airplanes are close by.
Sehr gut captain 😍🤝
Danke fürs Anschauen und das gute Feedback!
This channel is amazing!!! Good work. Sehr gut :)
Thanks for your good feedback! Please tell everybody about the channel! Thanks in advance for your help and have a great day!
that was tight! speed control by ATC alittle uncomfy towards the last 5 miles but looking great overall! well done
Thanks for sharing your good feedback! Such types of speed control are in between very common at lots of high density airports like London LHR or so.
Great teamwork, as always.

Awesome video as always captain😀
Thanks for watching and your good feedback!
