I am 24 years old, and I was raised in a small baptist church in WV listening to these songs weekly! So thankful for these old hymns, if this doesn’t light your fire your wood is wet!
Met him at a waffle house. I talked to him from a cross the room and he came over to my booth to visit for a few minutes. Very down to earth and good guy.
My beloved Wife Angela died in August. I talk to her picture often and tell her "one of these days and it won't be long I'll join her at the throne. I will be one of the 22 a day club. Semper Fidelis baby girl.
It's really a shame that the Statlers' musicality and songwriting genius doesn't get mentioned enough. Don is a great lead and Jimmy (a later addition) is truly an exceptional tenor, but their lyrics in their early songs (Flowers on the Wall, Bed of Roses) is subversive in the way that their mentor Johnny Cash was and his mentor, Jesus Christ, was before him. They showed the love and charity we should show to the prostitutes and other outcasts in one of the best vocal blends ever,
I'm 60 now, but in the 70s and 80s I was a big classic rock/ heavy metal fan. I couldn't stand music like this, or any kind of country music except rebel country like Hank Jr, Johnny Cash, etc. Somewhere down the line I did a complete 180. Today I love the Statlers and a lot of other old time music like this, and I don't like heavy metal or hard rock anymore. 😂
These Guys ,One Never tires if listening to them! Especially Gospel! There are so many I can turn them them on & still never tire of hearing their Great Voices! !
Statlers, the greatest Caucasian Christian singers in history. They've got some black gospel equals, but nobody else beats them! Atlanta Blue is one of the greatest songs of the mid-80s.
What about the Gaither Vocal Band with David Phelps, Guy Penrod, Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither? What about the Cathedrals with Ernie Haas, Scott Fowler, Glen Payne and George Younce? What about the Oak Ridge Boys with Joe Bonsall (RIP), Duane Allen, William Lee Goldman and Richard Sturbin? Don’t get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed, and continue to enjoy, the Statler Brothers.
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe!

My God, They just don't make them like this anymore. This was such a great time. A time of innocent. This was when air was clean, sex was dirty and people loved each other, May God Bless you all. All my love, >
Jazmine, the tenor is Jimmy Fortune. Even though, not with the Statler Brothers any more, he's still quite active in Southern Gospel music, and has made numerous appearances on the Gaither Homecoming videos. Blessings to you !!!
Every time I listen to this I smile. It’s sad that quartets are not as popular as they once were
Rest in peace Mr. Harold Reid Your bass voice will surely be missed. (and daddy sang bass)
He's the reason I'm here after seeing a meme. Unbelievable!
@@mickeypower1110 JD Sumner is still King Of The Low Notes.
@@kevinmiller6380 You're right, but who cares?
Both men have a rather off-putting appearance, but delight us with their great voices ;-)

They’re idiots. This is a beautiful song.
Could only be ungodly people to do so.
