    About 3 weeks ago I did cabbage at night and roads were shiiiiiiiiiiiit . ( TNT) phase . I asked my trainer to sit up front when it got sketchy. It got to an almost white out and I was going 16 mph we were riding heavy though maxed out. I can say I don’t miss cabbage.. I was puckered the whole time

      I'm with US Xpress, although I'm keenly looking at Prime if I ever decide to go OTR.
      I only heard good things about it.

      Just depends on how heavy you’re loaded. I’ve been driving 15 years many times in the mountains.

    Im in a 22 FL. Cruise cannot manage RPMs. The RPMs will get out of control on steep descents. You have to downshift

    I love the fact that you are doing 22 AND in the right hand lane. Safety 1st..Great video!

    I keep my CC between 55 and 57 mph always , going down hill I cut it in half of the speed limit.

    Thank you sir, I’m new to mountain and automatic driving. Cruise control is amazing in these new trucks. After watching this I never use service brakes and in no hurry to get down. Now I just need a video for guardrails right against road and heavy traffic in fast lane. Swear some of these mountain roads should be used for amusement park rides.

    I been driving for 3 1/2 years. Only in the southeast, no mountains, no snow. I am going otr shortly and one thing that freaks the living shit out of me is driving mountains and ice. Well, you surely help a whole lot with this video. Thanks driver. Stay safe and keep in rolling.

    I was gonna ask how you downshift them manually since most of them just have DNR on a stalk on the column, but I hadn't thought of using the Jake with cruise. That's pretty smart.

    I'm sure a lot of the old timers lkke to talk crap about automatic trucks, and yeah I prefer manual everything, I would manual swap a bicycle if I could lol. But auto trucks bring more drivers and they are safer.

    At 3:03 that Werner guy was flying down the hill! Lol what about other truckers going so fast like that when you're trying to safely decend

    So with the automatic you didn't have to put it in manual to lock it into a gear?
    You just left it on full auto?
    Just wondering because my truck is an automatic and I am a new owner operator, Have it went down any hills yet.

    U do know all u gotta do is leave the jake off/auto and it'll go through all the necessary levels on it's own

    • @primedriverdaniel9753
      @primedriverdaniel9753  5 лет назад +2

      Bernie Sands, putting the jake in Level 2 is Freightliner’s recommendation for using the Hill Descent feature. Not using engaging the jake with the cruise on will not enable the descent feature, and the cruise control will roll your truck up to 5mph or more beyond your target speed.

    • @shawndellelomax7831
      @shawndellelomax7831 5 лет назад +2

      I agree with Bernie, I have a 2019 as well. Leave the stalk in off position and then turn on the cruise. It will slow on it's own using all 3 levels if needed. Came down cabbage this morning

      @davidstefurak8662 3 года назад +3

      Not toggling the Jake and using the decent cruise feature I found that the RPMs jump way up to 2200-2300 . If I use the manual Jake I try and keep her around 1700 RPMs

    • @dufonrafal
      @dufonrafal Год назад

      @@davidstefurak8662 why ? The DD13/15 are governed at 2300-2400rpm and you’re supposed to downshift as much as possible to get as close as possible to that. That’s where you’ll get the most retarding power.
      According to Jacobs for the DD15 Jake brake :
      1500rpm = 320bhp
      1900rpm = 440bhp
      2300rpm = 540bhp
      Of course, different engines have different governed speed. An X15 Efficiency is governed at 1700rpm for exemple.
