2000FT/LBS OF TORQUE N' I CAN'T CLIMB THIS HILL! 140'000LB HIGHWAY TRUCK TAKING HOME-BUILT BACKROADS
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 май 2021
- So it's half load season here, which means certain roads are restricted to 5-tons per axle. This means a truck can take these roads empty, but not when loaded... What these guys did was build their own road for trucks to take when loaded, but it is NOT a very fun ride.... I see a lot of broke down trucks here in the future.

CAT C15 650hp
Fully loaded (140'000lbs) B-Train flatbed trailers - Авто/Мото
I was yelling at the screen Go Go Go as you climbed the hill! My girl walked into the room - looked at the screen - looked at me - then walked out and closed the door. In the other room I heard "Is this why you're still not ready to go to my sisters house for dinner?!!.......Yup.
Your GF would definitely not like me than, I’m a little rough around the edges..ha
@Alfred Stetter death before dishonor!
You tell that bish, if it ain't for Truckers, she ain't going to have that useless s☆☆☆t she buys, or even the important things, for that matter!
@@RUclipsDeletesComments You got that right driver!!
Knows how to do ,er
That turbo screaming makes it worth getting up at 4am to watch some videos over coffee before heading out to milk cows.
that sounds awesome
Need that torque for milkin too
I was thinking the same thing about the Turbo,, and trying to imagine getting up that hill with an old none turbo Cummins
I drive about 140,000lbs or 63,000kg loads every shift as an ore-hauler here in Ontario. The average person doesn't understand how heavy that is and how much it restricts our ability to accelerate. I get flipped off constantly for doing 35km/h up hills.
People are idiots, it made me laugh when he said the guy said “get a run at it”
near to where I live in Germany, region Kassel, there is a stretch of mountainous "Autobahn A7" southbound and let me tell you I've gone uphill there at 10 Kp/h because some fool leading the pack fell to that speed.
Autobahn in Germany means 80Kp/h for trucks, most drivers do round 85.
Who gives a f what four wheelers think ! Keep safe and keep trucking, brother!
I know exactly what you mean I use to haul raw steel chunks from patriot forge and averaged 135k lbs and it was another animal hauling up hills thru cambridge
Here in india we haul 55ton gvw with a 300hp 6.7 cummins on semi truck. On flat highway we would do max 60km/hr. On downhill we may occasionally hit the 80km/hr limiter.
On uphill it could slow down to 5km/hr or less if we have to use the crawler gear in a very steep incline.
When going up Himalayas we don't load above 25ton.
At 12k 17k feet that 300hp turns into 100hp. If going to the peaks of 19k we would not even load more than 15ton.
I’m not a trucker but a mechanic that fixes a lot of stuff and he as a driver shows us exactly how he becomes part of the machine he is operating and taking care of and ultimately respecting. Truckers do this every day to keep all of us safe on the road.
Luckily you hit that last gear......this was edge of your seat trucking
I was sweating bullets!
This was the best 15:43 on my TV, better than any show or movie... ❤ WOW ❤
Me in ATS when I buy an entry level truck and hit a small hill :(
😂
same lmao
I’m in school right now and we had to go up a steep hill in a little daycab a few days ago and I had to go in 4th to get up it because it wouldn’t allow me to get into 5th
Bruh 😂😂😂😂😂💯💯💯💯
LMAO
I'm not sure how I got here, but I have a newfound respect for anyone driving a truck. Hot damn
🤣
Anyone can do it, as long as they slam their seat on the floor and have a stupidly long gear shifter....
@@Jimmythefish577 driving the truck isn't the hard part, other people and things around the truck...that's the hard part.
@@mikehannigan848 driving a truck is still hard
@@danielleheiget4517 I know, mate.
He nailed it when he said "I don't know how you are supposed to do that".
He had my instant respect at that point.
That was a pretty tough pull. And nice job backing down that hill. That is no easy task. We encounter similar hills regularly here in the back woods of Alberta. The skip a gear method you did there is how its done. Don't let the revs down to far in 4th, pop it out of gear and go for 2nd with your foot to the floor. It falls in nicely at wide open and its all good. Takes some practice but you'd get onto it quick. Great videos! Keep it up!
Exactly. Once it pops in don't forget to be ready to let the throttle off a tad if you feel the whole drivetrain torquing up too much.
I certainly respect the way you treat your equipment, but your off road now. So lock in the diffs and drive it like you stoll it keeping the revs higher than you are used to. BTW, I was considered pretty good at backing up trains ,,, but you are amazing at it.
I run up to a coal mine in Colorado and the road there feels steep with 80,000 on. Couldn't imagine 140,000. Brutal stuff brother
Mounts lol
Bet the flywheel and clutch too a beating plus rears. But. I look at motor
How does it feel to be a trucker
Might have to drop the back trailer and come back for it eh.
@@Jamaican_Gaming haven't gotten sick of it yet! Definitely not the easiest job out there but that view over the hood is all worth it
The way you caught that gear on the final attempt! Crazy stuff!
Fast like ninja.
Fucker ain't a truck driver
Poor guy probably hasn't been at it long. There is a trick to down shifting rapidly and he hasn't figured it out yet. But he will. Climbing a hill like that you need to stay in the powerband and keep the turbo spooled for a rapid rpm increase for the fastest possible downshift. It is most definitely an art, not gonna lie. Hauling to construction and pipeline sites on roads far worse than that I had to learn real fast and so shall he. That was a damn good save when he finally remembered to shift on that last attempt However lol.
I'm amazed how your differentials held at 7:10 quite some schock load. I've exploded a diff like that
Blew mine apart on flat ground. Started spinning, before I let out.. ouch
..
Sometimes she holds, sometimes she blows. Luck of the draw.
If it was on a paved road, it would have crunched.
As someone who has driven a haul truck in the oilfield I can say without a doubt this is the type of terrain where camelback suspension shines it will dig in and pull where air ride will start hopping and break drive line parts locking in your power divider will help too
This is awesome to watch, that downshift coming up that hill was pure instinct, great stuff!
Can’t believe you didn’t throw a drive line on that last shift.
You’re absolutely correct. And that is definitely a way to break something
Yep, momentum, your best friend and worst enemy.
Best wishes from the far North.
Velocity - momentum is key, he is taking too long to shift. RPM Gear matching speed shifts are needed ! Every second that that shush shifter is not in gear and the engine is not running at full torque you’re losing momentum and that’ll kill your chances of making it up the hill you have to be in the right gear to keep the engine it proper torque range get it in that gear at this deepest part of the hill and keep it there at nearly full throttle!!
Just saw last try! He did it with quick shifts and keeping up momentum! Good job!!
I kept shaking my head as you approached the hill slowly, shifting in slow motion and never tried to pick up speed before you got to the hill... When you finally said "lets take a run at it", I was like "well it's about time!!" Hahaha!! Glad you finally made it up the hill. I would've been upset at myself watching the whole thing if you didn't. Lol!!
I've only been driving a manual for about 2 months and even I know to pick up speed on hills or inclines. I just cringe at the thought of stalling out or bogging down.
Try pulling 140,000 pounds going up hill. You will tear everything up if your bang shifting
You've never driven with 140,000 lb on a dirt road have you?
@@hybridyd1305 you been driving manual for 2 months and you think you're ready to drive a truck where you can't even use the clutch to shift? You couldn't get out of the parking lot in one of these trucks don't pretend to know what you're talking about. You're definitely not qualified to drive with $140,000 lb on f****** Muppet
@@danokerr9929 unfortunately what we are looking at here is a rash of dunning Kruger effect victims who know a little bit and have no idea how much they don't know yet and they're going to tell you how to drive a truck with $140,000 pounds on when you can't even use the clutch for shifting Mr 2 months probably doesn't even know what floating gears is yet
That was crazy, I almost felt like I was in the passenger seat. Great video, and great skill
Must’ve been his 1st run on that “road.”Dam good job!!Now he knows when to send her to get up.
140,000 on a soft road you need to be shifting quicker to keep your momentum rolling.i was watching the scenery slow way down between gears.im not saying you wouldve made it.but letting it slow so much between gears doomed any chance you may have had.i learned this the hard way.
4 ft gear shift takes longer. Lol.!
Yep-- he spends a lot of time in neutral.
There’s not much you can do on these trucks with no synchronization rings
Guy needs to learn how to shift and as far as non synchros you have double clutching
@@dylanstevens8542 -- You say that because you don't know how to drive. A driver who knows what he's doing can instantly and accurately rev-match and shift up or down quicker that you would believe. This guy is in over his head.
That's some impressive truck driving young man. (I'm a 75 year old ex-bull hauler).
I had to replay this like 8 times due to the BAD Ass sound of that thing screaming up that hill.
On my third time watching, and will watch again ... I also shared with my trucking buddies, this is so worth rewatching!!
That gear shift at the end was CLUTCH!
YES!!
He'll yeah. Should have had "here's your one chance Fancy, don't let me down" playing because that was do or die AF
That slap into first at the very end to save it over the edge.. CLASSIC!
Holy crap that would've made me sweat, props to you man that was a wild ride!!
Dude, this was life-time test for your drives.....company should buy you new ones for free after these go :))) Insane pull! One of the heaviest on the RUclips for sure!
I’d drop that load and inform them that they won’t be seeing me anytime soon
Wow! Backing down with trains....Insane! Good driving bro!
Hell I do that everyday with 110,000 lb of wood on my trailer, with a total combined weight of 156,000 lb. You just got to hit that hill with everything you got at the bottom and hope like hell that by the time you hit the top you still have the RPM to make that crest.
Can't be afraid to whip that horse!
Amen
I was shaking my head thinking... rookie... when I watched this. I've pulled heavier on worse roads than that here in Michigan. Back in the day we ran stupid heavy, my average weight was 196000. Our top weight limit now is 174000. I bet he was running with his lift axles down too. Big mistake. Ain't no where to turn around. Lock the diffs in and give er hell. Better to run too hard and make it then to be pussy footin around and get stuck. Don't show him what the Australians do, he'd never make it.
He's still in his "research and development" stage.
Give it a rest . He's unfamiliar with the terrain. He'll learn just like you did.
@@lukebutterfield5316 Australians! They don't pull rode trains in mountainous terrain. Australia is mostly flat . Give your head a shake. They can come out to the Pacific Northwest (Washington or British Columbia) in the winter. They'll run home with their tails between their legs. And if the highways don't spook them, throw their asses into a log truck . 140,000 lbs is gonna get real heavy in a hurry.
I felt that Matt, cringing the whole time. Hey boss man, send a company truck next time!
Why a little run good shifting thats easy. But hurting anything unless your a moron..... the axel hopping at low speed is much worse
I like your attitude! You kept your head cool all the time in the situation. Very professional! If I was at your place, I would juste stop there and cry. Thanks for showing us!
If all else fails I guess he could have taken them up one at a time
When they had crazy shit like this in the oilfield, there would sometimes be a dozer close by to pull trucks thru...lol!
Yep, I've pulled B trains two or three miles with my D6 at times in the oil patch.
Imagine that up in north (AK, YT) fully loaded with fuel in January. 15 miles uphill took 6 hours...
Wow climbing with a truck this hill is totally Insane but you've perfectly made it with cold blood and no stress at all Bro! Well done! Cheers man!
I never get bored listening to the music to your engine and its turbo.
Absolutely awesome work, even kept it going with the 4th to 1st shift to finish the hill off. And that is very true that’s how you break stuff.
Wow ! Impressive backing under pressure ,, Loved the rapid "skip change" that got you over the top :-)
Been driving ruck for 45 years mostly with cat engines my current truck is a c15 accent 625 hp could tell you were driving a cat just because of that sweet sound of the turbos boosting up love it
I work in the Canadian oilfield, when you get to a hill like this, you gotta go full send from the start or you're DOA. Our tractors don't go much past 150k miles before they get sent to the graveyard lol
Exactly, full send. Does not work in crawl mode. Enertha is your friend. Just saying. . Wow.
The first "Run" he tryed i was, noooo why so slow. With such steep Hills you must go, Pedal to the Metal otherwise you won't make it. With Swing is the Magic....
But close Call save at the End, i was oh no he won't make it.
Said like a real man. This guy can't drive his pecker to the hole
@@mtyhntr49 Hate to be the guy correcting spelling, but... the word you were going for there is "Inertia" lol. But the word that fits there is "momentum".
Used to haul lime on super b, s in northern alberta off road. As said you got to gun it and give it some, you can't risk it bogging down. Never got stuck apart from in bad snow.
What a hell of a ride... damn! Well done! Although I guess the truck had to struggle there badly.
That's one heck of a work dude. Good professional way of handling such situations. Good job brother.

Thats indeed how you destroy equipment lol. I was shitting my pants overhere haha
Wow man!!!! You pulled this big baby up the hill like a champ!!! 💪🏼😎
Nice backing work. Holy crap that’s a great attitude for some nail biting situation.
I was mad when he got to the top and it just continues straight. They couldve made that so much more manageable for drivers with just a little more work.
@DAMNED SHARP KNIVES you seem really confused
Frikin badass bruh. I had some major 2nd hand stress.
Beautifully executed as usual, big boss.
Dude, that was super entertaining. Thanks for sharing. Glad your drivetrain didn't suffer any damage in the process.
Bro split high to low on hills like that you czn maintain momentum better. Instead of hitting 4 low keep 3 high to get good rpm and when you start getting low to like 1000 1200 split to low to get your rpm back..run 3 low till like 1000 1200 and then hit 2 high and run it to low hope that runs you through but if you hit like 700 800 in 2 low you jam her into 1 low like ya did at the end was a nice 4 to 1 shift btw lol brother nice run and your a very smooth operator
should of had momentum in the first place, none the less good stuff keep at er
Pretty much.
Little faster over the first one and I bet he would of made the second one just fine with some momentum
Same thing I was thinking momentum is key in these situations. Same goes when driving up snow hills
Sometimes easier said than done
Well hindsight is 20/20. It was his first time on that stretch. He got on the radio and got some guidance. But he was still a little skeptical. But got just enough of a run at it to make it.

No doubt! I'm impressed by his backing into driveways but the straight back is as hard or harder!!
That was really insane. You nailed it.
So bad ass! Love hearing a big diesel work!!
If you still can't make it up to the hill then you had split your trailers and climb with one and drop one up and came for second (tell me what would you do)
That's some ausie shit there lol
How much help is that 12' shift lever now?
F..king excellent! Very well done driver. I would have split the trains myself but then again I definitely cannot back as well as you!
All these years, and I never knew just how heroic truck drivers can be, how much responsibility we lay on their shoulders, and how they have to deal with things like this on their own.
I was happy asf for you when you did it. I felt like I accomplished something🤣🤣🤣
Where one succeeds we all succeed
As crazy as it sounds, when those drives start hopping and losing traction, just let out of it for a second. That stops the wheel hop and sometimes lets you get enough traction to pull on out.
Yea that doesn't work with 140k on the back. It stops in an instant
@@uifturis It’s always worked for me with 120k. Maybe an extra 20k makes that big of a difference… probably not though.
What an adventure. Great job. I love this video. Greets Marcel
Two things one hats off to you for being about to back a set of B trains down that hill twice. Honestly don't think I could and two beautiful save on that last pull. It's not always easy dropping gears like that and getting back in the pull without breaking lose.
Ring axles, break gears , drop drive shafts & tear up the hog head but hold my beer & whatcha this
Yeah I hate it when the hog head and the flip or flopper Dingle banger gets destroyed.
That road is a lot nicer than a lot of oilfield roads I have been on.
Thats What I was thinking
Any oilfields ive ever been in don't have hills like this, they just full of holes and slicker than shit in the spring break up. Also, if there are nasty hills , call for a pull up the hill.

Just because you don't know how to drive mountain road with heavy load, don't blame your engine torque on it. Wind that engine up in a lower gear and when you got to down shift, shift like you mean it not like your on a Sunday drive to church!
For that perfect gear grab u got my sub!!
10:27 ?
Man, my pucker factor was approaching 10! Good job.
Can see you are professional operator. You Know your own limitations, your equipment limitations and when to and how to get best out of them according the to the current situation. And what a situation, dynamic. Very impressive your resilience, risk assessment and thinking about the solution and not focusing just on the issue. That is hardcore Pro level. Take it easy mate.
Hey from b.c. Canada , good job man, I drive a tri drive and pull a quad for logging off hwy and gross around 82000kgs I know the feeling all to well of not making it out of the bush roads and having to back down.
I always wondered how you guys make any money baggin your trucks
@10:00 on those quick upshifts use the clutch to pop it out of gear quickly and cleanly. That breaks the torque quickly as opposed to feathering the accelerator. Don't worry about the keyboard truckers who only had to use their clutch one time back in 1973 to get their career rolling the first day! You are out there in the thick of it!
You know it's a crazy situation when you are just watching and you get excited for the guy. I am about the coolest headed guy you will meet and this would get me excited.
Jisus, that bounce in the second attempt had me dropping F bombs. Props to you for playing it cool. I was expecting you to blow something up. Glad you didn’t.
I’d be having some words with someone about that road, built solely for stone laden highway rigs with that kind of crazy hill.
On the attempt you made it you sure grabbed that gear at the end fast lol. Good stuff.
Yep good way to twist that drive shaft up like a pretzel but you made it!!!! Just shows that your Truck is in top condition or it would not have made it.
Yeah I don’t miss hauling logs with super b’s ,ripped a driveshaft out of a truck once 💪💪 😂
I literally exploded the power divider on this thing a year and a half ago doing a second gear pull on a much smaller hill, so anytime I get to a hill I take it reeeal cautiously!!
