The way you broke down this videos into different rounds is very appealing and helpful when doing this type of analysis. It would make total sense for them to get rid of the 3x earning cstegory in the card and replace it with something more aligned with food. Interested in your thoughts
Where you live can make this a easy No for much of the country. Major metro possible, small town USA a No. Add the other $700 your paying to eat overpriced delivered food to use these points. Its a big no.

This is an excellent card for someone who buys groceries for a lot of people/big family at a regular grocery store. It’s an underwhelming 1x card if you do most of your shopping at wholesale stores, or in my case at Costco, completely useless. If you use it primarily for dining, unless you’re really committed to MR points, I feel like there are so many 3x options for a smaller fee (some no fee) & wider international acceptance. It’s not a card for everyone (outside of the SUB). Great video 👍🏽.
I agree. If it weren't for having my son and my grocery expenses went sky high, I probably would not have gotten this card. And the "coupons" have been a nice add-on. This 1st year has been beneficial for me. It's not a card that fits in for everyone. We'll see how things change over this year and if I'll keep it for another? Finally a creator who gets the card and hasn’t jumped on the cancel bandwagon. Dont get me wrong, I’m ticked at Amex right now but the card still performs as expected when I enrolled. Refresh may get it chopped. I wish they’d come up with an all in one Plat Gold Green card.

I'd say your comparison on the freedom flex rotating categories and the amex offers isn't great. Chase has offers for the flex on top of the rotating categories. I'd say overall though that amex has much better offers that gives a greater return than chase, but they do require you to spend more on those offers generally. Also, I had no issues using my Amex gold in Japan other than places that didn't take credit cards at all. Sydney on the other hand only took it maybe 50% of the time, so YMMV depending on destination and restaurant. My AF for the gold is coming up and I've loved it so far but I'm starting to run the numbers and wondering if I'd be better off using a different card. Even if you use the effective AF of $10, then you'd still need to spend $250 on food to break even with any of the other cards on the market that have 3% back on dining. Personally I was considering the Bilt card since they have AA as a transfer partner. The only thing holding me back is the fact that there's been reports of fraud through stolen card numbers from a lot of Bilt users and the customer service isn't that great from what I've heard whereas amex has excellent CS.
Hey, Jake! Yeah, it's not a card for everyone, but also, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'll continue to provide my honest opinion and right now, it's still an earner for me. But I COMPLETELY understand why others may be taking a different path with their strategies. Who knows,what the next year may bring? I'll re-evaluate it again next January.

I thought about changing your lifestyle. It's if you're already buying these things prior to getting the card. It is a no-brainer but if you need to use them just to get value then it's not worth it. That's why I don't have it cuz I don't use Uber eats or grub hub hardly among other things. And I hardly grocery shop right now. I should do more of that lol but I've been watching my eating
I held the Amex Gold for 2 years, this year I decided to downgrade my Amex Gold to the Amex Green card. I closed my first Amex Green card due to overlap in categories within my credit card portfolio. I have the Citi Premier which is a solid 3x card, I also have the Amex Everyday Preferred with 3x groceries so my current Amex Green 3x restaurants will be solid. I love Amex I hold 8 of their cards you definitely have to reevaluate on a yearly basis to make sure your getting value from them. There is said to be a AF increase coming on the Amex Gold in the future unfortunately.

From others, most cancel it after that 1st year (probably due to overlap). 2) I got the personal last year shortly after my son was born. And it has been a great earner for me across multiple aspects. To better answer your question, check out Jacobs Points & Profits channel. He recently did a great comparison and walk-thru of why he's getting the business version and it's pros/cons.

Also, 80% of my grocery spend is at Costco so the 4x on groceries will likely never make sense enough to overcome the annual fee.

All these credits from Amex are exhausting. No one wants to change their lifestyle just to live by Amex.
