That tape under the LCD panel just ripped at the tab when I tried it, making it basically impossible to take off the LCD screen without cracking it. Thanks HP, what kind of design is that?? Well design laptops simply have the LCD panel fastened by screws and it easily comes out when you unscrew it. Who the heck designed something where you have to pull out 18" of tape with a 1/2" little pull tab? Can't believe this and now I have a cracked panel.

The LCD replacement starts at 27:25. At 31:20 it is disconnecting the LCD cable from the back side but it doesn’t show me how it reconnects. After flipping the display lid up and down for a year and a half the connector came apart and I can’t figure out how it is supposed to reattach. My tape was still intact but the metal connector separated and the clip looking part already detached. Maybe mine broke I can’t tell I’m not sure how it’s supposed to fit together. At 31:42 it shows the connector but it’s very hard to see it in the video it goes by so fast. Is there a online manual and reference page where I can see this close up with a description how it goes together? Thanks.
This laptop doesn't have a CMOS battery. This laptop uses the system battery instead, if you unplug that battery for 30 seconds it will reset the CMOS for you. (Or if the battery goes completely flat, which you shouldn't do as that can lessen the lifespan of the battery)
+Hedgehog The Sonic Nothing is screwed into plastic. Metal screw mounts are embedded into plastic and the screws attached into those metal mounts. The problem arises because the hinges are made from very light metal and after some usage they tend to seize up so that the torque on the mounts becomes excessive and the laptop pulls apart.
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 the lcd hinge is connected on the body panel of the screen, which is made of plastic. And as you can guess, it broke. I bond it with epoxy and somehow it's normal again. However, if something happen to the lcd screen in the future, it will be difficult to break them apart since they're glued lmao
@@Nick-ko1tw something similar has happened to me, its like only one of the hinges is rotating while one the other, only the body is getting force bent, i cant feel any rotation in hinge, and the bezel is getting opened near that area, and the cavity which covers the hinges on lcd is opening a little gap too showing the hinge, so now i cant close it back down without breaking some plastic, and repairing with it being open is gonna be hard!! was yours similar ?

EDITING THE UPDATE TO THE TOP:AAAAND THE SCREWS ON THE HEAT SINK ARE SO TIGHT THEY STRIPPED BEFORE COMING OUT! Bought at walmart. Good hardware, awful build quality. Casing broke at hinge points within a year. (Just outside manufacturer warranty) still had store warranty and got screwed over. Sent mine in to get broken hinge/casing fixed. They refused the warranty claiming it was infested with bugs and needs a certified cleaner to clean before they'd fix it. Searched for months and there is nobody in my whole state that provides that service and HP support wouldn't offer/ suggest anyone. Warranty expired and I opened the thing up myself to see the damage. Not a trace of bugs. No bugs, no eggs, no poop. (I have had a computer become infested after leaving in garage for years so I know the signs of an actual infestation) Either they lied about bugs, or a single dead bug got into box en route and they used it as an excuse to refuse service.

Thanks.
it's good video. but i have a question.
where is CMOS battery ?
This laptop doesn't have a CMOS battery. This laptop uses the system battery instead, if you unplug that battery for 30 seconds it will reset the CMOS for you. (Or if the battery goes completely flat, which you shouldn't do as that can lessen the lifespan of the battery)
Is the entire hinge of this laptop made from metal ? or are there plastic parts ? I will be waiting the answer, thanks.
@@HPSupport I see, i was wondering that. Is there a way to reduce the torque or it is a design flaw ? Thanks for answering my previous question.
@@hedgehogthesonic3181 the screen will break apart from the laptop. Actually, i'm repairing my laptop today.

(I have had a computer become infested after leaving in garage for years so I know the signs of an actual infestation)
Either they lied about bugs, or a single dead bug got into box en route and they used it as an excuse to refuse service.

I have a problem with my laptop fans.
After changing thermal paste and cleaning the fans, the fans are running at high speed, especially the CPU fan. I checked temperatures and cpu usage. Everything looks good.
After disabling "Fan always on", the fans lower the temperature and stop spinning completely. This was not same before replacing the cleaning and thermal paste. As the temperature dropped they slowed down, they didn't stop spinning completely.

+Xati Please remove all the cables and external devices and connect to again to fix this issue.
The LCD cable is either loose (on motherboard or screen end, or both) or damaged. If reseating at both ends doesn't fix it, you will most likely need to replace this cable.

@@HPSupport so, you are telling me that I cannot change your shitty which is almost broken every other computer with the same model. I used this computer almost 6 years as a computer engineering student, and ıt had burned motherboard, ssd. At least the warranty was valid, they changed them. Now, I need to replace keyboard and back lcd panel cover, just because you designed product so shitty. I am telling everyone not to buy hp.
Btw I saw a video of changing the keyboard only but to do that I need a speical equipment which will cost more than the keyboard. Sorry for the agressive tone but I just pissed of after removing all the parts to learn that I cannot change the keyboard.
This looks like hardware issue, and you might have to get the notebook serviced.
So, I would recommend you to contact regional support for repair options.

And it seems it can support a dual channel which is good, but I'm having a hard time if I can exceed the supported memory of my laptop.

any additional information:
- the serial number on the battery itself is L08934-2B1.The bateery also had a sticker on it saying "REPLACE WITH HP SPARE L08855-855". When i entered these serial numbers into the search bar on the HP parts website, it shows no results, and also doesn't have any compatible replacements.
- it is an SR03XL Li-Ion battery
