I keep telling my two trainees about things like this. They're good lads but if things don't go by the book or if they don't have the precise tool for the job they often get a bit stuck. I've explained to them that figuring things out for yourself is one of the main skills of being a good mechanic.
now that's thinking outside the box , most mechanics myself included would be wanting the front end off to get in with an impact gun as those crank bolts are crazy tight. Thanks for sharing
thank you I have found this video. I have the same problem on my 04 x5 e53, there's an oil leak behind that pulley and I had no idea how I was going to remove this 200+ ft lbs torque bolt. absolutely great job gentlemen.
Great stuff . I had to use my jack hand to make 3 foot extension bar to take of wheel bearing bolt. I have tried that trick but my rubber belt stretches on my oil filter remover . Lovely job,😁
To unbolt the old pulley it's OK but not for installation of the new one. You damage new pulley rubber inside. The rubber is not enough strong to take about 300 nm pulley torque.
Great stuff 👏 if you don't have any other tools I prefer lock chain never not got one off with those and relatively cheap to buy. Keep up the good work.
Squeeking belt - Replaced belt and found crankshaft pulley rubbers all ripped, replaced crankshaft pulley, fine first day, second day now really rough idle, fine when moving it seems but idle is awful, any ideas where i should be looking? BMW x1

Fantastic fella great video
I'd be concerned it doesn't bend the other pulleys towards the crank as you tighten it up. Seems to work OK though
Yeah it may be better on cars that don't require a jack handle on a breaker bar. This one was ok though. Cheers mate
Good idea Matt.
Should've watched this the other day
Very helpful
