Nice tutorial! Mines at 140k and just had the same problem. This helped a lot … especially the tip to hold the alternator to torque the bolts.
    Thanks for sharing.

I did it on my back and jammed my boot behind the pulley to hold it still. Also replaced it with a solid one from a Range rover so it don't happen again. You need shorter belts to do the range rover conversion but I paid 45 for all the bits instead of 200 just for the pulley with the rubber core.

That is some top grade info buddy i had no idea it could even be done thanks! So this wouldnt affect it in any way in the long run? Hopefully it’ll help someone else.

thanks for this im having a slight issue with my n57 330d it dosent seem to happen when its cold on initial startup but after a little drive i have like a thumping noise at idle and as you increse rpm slowly you can here it but if yo uslowly lower the rpm it kinda goes away
its not a rattle its more like aslowly droping your fist on teh table more like a bass tone than a high pitch tone if you get me
i listen round teh engine and it dont really sound like the pulley butto be fair when i listen to your previous video with the turbo actuator i can here the thumping on yours but now it seems gone in this video

Hi thanks for the comment. I think it might be something else though cos the car ran fine for a good while after i done the turbo vid. If you can give a bit more info i could try figure more out for you

You could see if its shaking at all or normally the tell tales signs are some wear on the rubber. To be honest if you’re close to 100k its worth changing
