I considered that same dilemma when considering a tuner. So many “great tuners” that do it remotely, but if something happens and they don’t care. They just ignore you. Was fortunate to find someone in the town I grew up in recommended by someone who trusts know one with their car so that went a long way.
SUBARU WRX 2016 - It didn't pass emissions for 1 year and had a check engine light (CODES: P0345, P0340, P0335). I changed the oil, cleaned the Camshaft Sensors, and replaced all 4 Oil Control Valves. And the codes went away. I later had a rough idle, and since the vehicle was passed 50k miles, I cleaned the Throttle Body, and it fixed the rough Idle. Car's now at 73k miles running strong.
i went into my local dealer to try and order a cvt wrx and there’s one in a 300 mile radius and it would take 5-6 months for it to be built in japan, so fingers crossed they can get the one in my area and i can buy it, looking forward to joining the family and your videos have definitely helped me with my decision
Kinetic Motorworks in Hampstead NH is a great garage. It’s a bit further than Bren in Acton but worth the trip. Just had them rebuild my FA20 with Manley pistons/ rods, and all new internals.
Auto Enthusiast I’m still breaking the motor in so no dyno yet. Still have about another 1600 miles before that happens. Here’s what she’s got: Rebuilt engine with all new internals Manley pistons Manley turbo tuff rods Manley rod bearings SoCal V3 turbo Cobb AI Cobb boost controller Process West top mount IC Process West charge pipe Killer B ELH exhaust manifold with swain MAP rev 2 downpipe Invidia q300 turbo back with burnt titanium tips Lowering springs On a stage 2+, shop said I may see somewhere around 320 to the wheels.
I own a 2014 WRX with 56,000 miles and I got a, "check engine" light. Took it to the dealer and they told me it needs new head gaskets and it will cost $3000 to fix! I am not a mechanic, but it seems head gaskets should last more than 56,000 miles.
2 years late but: It is due to a factory problem that should be changed before the recommendation, I think it is the fault of the exhaust that gets hotter on one side and damages it prematurely.
...second comment 😂 yesterday 9-12-20 went to trade in my 2006 Forester with 203,000 miles. Them fools said $700.00 🥴👀 Heck no so off I went. It’s still going strong but old. It’LL be my very reliable back up bucket 😘
Yeah, we all also start somewhere. As you tinker and things break, you will learn more and more. Takes time, patience, and a lot of failure, but eventually you will feel comfortable!
Had a 2011 Dodge Charger got it with 80k miles, drove it tell 126k. Sensor for the gas pedal was giving out, the transmission was replaced completely at 60k then at 80k and at 126k it was giving out again. Gas mileage in the city with no stop and go? 8mpg, highway? 33 mpg on a good day. Was always a mopar or no car person. 2020 wrx owner now and it’s more fun in every way than the dodge ever was. I wouldn’t recommend any American made cars anymore, especially the Subaru’s made in America. Namely the imprezas. So many random issues with that car even brand new. I say get whatever car you want and enjoy it, but don’t be saying somethings more reliable when it really isn’t. Dodge, Ford and Chevy aren’t known for reliability unless you are referring to the diesel trucks and even then it’s spotty.
On a side note, I'm shocked with how good the Apple headphone mic actually sounds.
yeah, surprisingly good

It honestly makes all the difference.

You can always make a drive out to a dealer that has one!! Good luck with the search!
Sorry for the slightly late post! No sound on the first try lol
So why didn't it pass inspection?
Mine ahows PO244 any help - Subaru legacy GT 2.5 T automatic
Mine shows P0244 any help

Nice! Did your engine go? What kind of numbers are you making now?
Auto Enthusiast I’m still breaking the motor in so no dyno yet. Still have about another 1600 miles before that happens. Here’s what she’s got:
Rebuilt engine with all new internals
Manley pistons
Manley turbo tuff rods
Manley rod bearings
SoCal V3 turbo
Cobb AI
Cobb boost controller
Process West top mount IC
Process West charge pipe
Killer B ELH exhaust manifold with swain
MAP rev 2 downpipe
Invidia q300 turbo back with burnt titanium tips
Lowering springs
On a stage 2+, shop said I may see somewhere around 320 to the wheels.
@@b0rs I bet more. TMIC and not FMIC???
Auto Enthusiast yea it’s a top mount. It came with the car. At a price of around $1000 retail I’m not going to replace it.
Auto Enthusiast oh yea, she’s got TGV and EGR deletes as well. Boomba BPV as well.
If the car was tuned to an aftermarket ebcs and you install a new one does it need to be retuned?
What’s the stock part? Looking to sell my Wrx and revert to stock.
Good vid my dude!
Thanks for watching!

Damn, low offer. Always hurts to hear something like that. Drive that thing into the ground!
I see the Mass plates and have heard you mention Massachusetts. What town are you in? I was born and raised in Needham.
Living in Milton now! Not too far away, Needham is a great town!
Do you think it’s worth getting a wrx with warranty or get one just with expired warranty? Plan to make 300 whp reliable for daily.
I would say don't spend the extra dollars on a WRX with a warranty then
Auto Enthusiast how reliable you think they are with 300 whp with full bolt ons on 91 or 93 or e85 sometimes
I sold mine a few months ago. Subarus are fun but not reliable.
Mine has been fairly reliable minus the parts I have added lol. I created my own mess 😂
@@AutoEnthusiast That’s why I’m not gonna mess with mine, lol. I lack any mechanical knowledge. Luckily my neighbors are gearheads.
Yeah, we all also start somewhere. As you tinker and things break, you will learn more and more. Takes time, patience, and a lot of failure, but eventually you will feel comfortable!
@@AutoEnthusiast I might be braver if I had my own garage! Until I do, poor blue is going to be an unmodified street parked car. ☺️
@@mikaelafox6106 true true, having a garage is great! Too bad I can't use mine right now.
Get a charger bro there a little worse on gas but there reliability is better 👍 good vid
Appreciate the support! Chargers have just never excited me, maybe a hellcat one day

Could possibly be the worst comment of all time.
