The thing is if they were guilty of a serious crime and there is evidence we expect there to be fullness in their prosecution. In order to have that the system can’t treat every event or case where an officer is accused of a crime the same like with street crime or drugs. They need that for when they have proof and the crime is severe. Without that of course the da won’t take it the whole distance. When it’s glaringly obvious and they won’t it’s a different story but that’s not what you see here.

Giving cops a bonus or "Trooper of the Year" awards for arresting the most DUI's, is a fabulous way to teach cops to hand out DUI's illegally. Cops should not be honored for meeting some kind of numerical quota. They should be honored for things that make the community safer and more trusting of cops.
I totally agree cops should not have a quota and I know for a fact that at least one department in Volusia county Florida does not have quotas because as stated that does encourage cops to possibly handle something more aggressively or make things up to meet that quota . That is a dangerous thing for a department to do !!!

I am skeptical of cops, but I actually started believing he might have made a mistake… UNTIL his phone got wiped. I do NOT understand why he still has a job!
You can tell they're not interested in really looking into it because it's super easy to get that information after the phone has been wiped to recover it.
I'm always suspicious of "trooper of the year"s. Too many departments bestow that, as this one seems to have, merely for having the most tickets or DUIs issued. This in turn incentivizes officers to cut corners in due process or even outright fabricate evidence. Thus dishonest cops tend to get those awards disproportionately. Seen it many times. I'm not saying all of them do, or this guy did, but to me it makes him more suspicious, not less.
The cops where I grew up asked a cop from a neighboring town to do a sting operation on their DUI star. Sure enough, the star was corrupt AF. All his DUIs were overturned.

QI is in play when they do something unlawful without "knowing" it was unlawful against an individual, or when there is no precedent previously established. Officers know as long as they deny everything and cover their tracks there's nothing that will be done to them. They're not so forgiving to the rest of us.
Man, I had a job that didn't even pay much when I was young, but i could handle from $20 bucks to $250k everyday was different, and I never felt not a hint of desire to take one red cent... a thief is a thief no matter what... don't trust anyone when there's money involved...

Well it certainly wouldn't go to this dude. You think as an 11 year veteran of the department he signed a piece of paper agreeing that there was 110k in cash, KNOWING it would get counted, THEN took 3k of it? C'mon.
It was $800 plus dollars found he later found in his car but discrepancy was over $3000 so it's possible it fell like he said unless he spent $2000 something and only had 800 something remaining. With that said only God knows so hey case closed
Obviously knew his dad was as corrupt a person as himself. It's sad when it's to a point a grown man feels no shame to be able to ask his dad for help to protect his job himself from criminal punishment in a job that is meant to protect the very fabric of society from such behaviour.
There's no way to honestly be able to tell just how much money was actually in the car to begin with. There could have been $300,000 for all we really know.
I agree. About half way through this video they show the trooper with a bag of the evidence (cash) and it is not in nice perfect stacks. It's in fistfulls and gobs. Which tells me the guy who got caught was probably telling the truth when he said he didn't know how much was there. Which makes it easy pickings for someone with sticky fingers. Likewise, dudes who roll with stacks and racks usually know exactly how much is there.
If this was me in a situation like this with large amounts of cash, I would have stayed on camera, shut the door to the car and called a supervisor on scene, he would have been my witness through the chain of evidence from beginning to end, no questions asked!

David HONESTLY ❓🤣
So, on top of needing training they also need to learn how to count? That's a big difference... and they don't know policy? What kind of office are they running?
That's what got me. I worked as a cashier for years, even working back to back shifts where I was falling asleep on my feet, and you better believe that all my counts were correct to the penny. Then again, if I miscounted $3k I'd be fired on the spot.
NS - One might think a "chain of custody" would be in place ?
There’s no difference between criminals & cops.
Miss count is not over 3000.00 A miss count is 100 or maybe 200. But not 3 grand plus
I agree. When they got back to the station it was almost certainly counted with a money counter. If those things made everyday common mistakes by a few hundred dollars here and a few twenties there... then banks wouldn't trust or use them.
How the hell is this corrupt cop still getting paid by tax dollars 🤬
Too tired to accurately count the money is the lamest excuse I've ever heard when it comes to missing money! Cops wouldn't buy that excuse if they were investigating somebody for stealing money! Both of those cops are guilty of stealing money from that cash seizure!
No fucking doy, Captain Obvious.
Even tho the stealing cop thst admitted he stole it and acted solely and that called the supervisor confessing that told the officer to call his supervisor immidately and tell them everything, because he trusted a decorated officer of the year to correctly count the money and was duped!? A mistake yes but guilty of stealing? Literally not becasue he didn’t steal it or have any of the money and the one that did confessed and video showed his actions. $113,567 in small bills is an insane amount of actual tender that would take a day to count, the supervisor after a 12.4 hour shift called in middle of night to supervise counting likely did dose off, again, a mistake but not intentional. An evidence supervisor knows 100% seized drug money is counted and immidately taken to the bank for deposite and safe keeing until trial, they KNOW the bank will count and recount the money and if it’s off, they call the department and Internal Affairs is contacted . As bad as it gets. No way in hell he was in on it. He has not way of making it go away or be invisible, the bank will find any discrepancies. Absurd people think he was involved and. Ow a 30+ year spotless veteran officer is demoted and suspended because he trusted an officer to count the money and dosed off with only 90 minutes of sleep after a 12.4 hour shift and then another 8 of counting money middle of the night. A process of thst much that would take an entire shift. No reason to involve the supervisor. A warning so he doesn’t make the same slip up but bo corruption on his part. He told the officer to report it immidately not hide it. Come on
@@MZ-bl6wg .,Spoken like one lying cop, supporting another. 💯👎🤨
Are you kidding? Counting money would be a priority by anyone.
@@MZ-bl6wg roflmao.
If counting 110k in bills takes you a full shift, you're incompetent and, literally, an idiot.
Run them all through a money counter, 3x. Should take all of an hour, max.
This happens all the time. Drug dealers are never sure exactly how much drugs they have.. but they always know how much cash they have. Especially when it’s organized / stacked. Cops aren’t supposed to get in a suspects car.
Yes we can it’s search incident to arrest.
If they need to know how much money they have, they need to know how much product they have - even if they're flush enough to not know how much they have, they still need to know when to go shopping to refill
Citizens would never get away with crimes the way police do.
It’s 3k my guy they are paid over 50 a year.

That officer 100% stole money I was shocked with the amount stolen because I kept thinking you’re willing to lose your job/career for $3000 or even less because you have to split it, him failing the light detector test a number of times, calling his dad for help and wiping his phone clean after the investigation and this station sees all of this and thinks no we can’t prove he stole it really. He broke a number of rules and decided to just move him? Well if this isn’t a bit of entitlement I don’t know what is.
It's criminals in blue thumbing their noses at the system, and without serious community oversight put in place, this is nothing compared to what we are going to witness. And yes, it's gotten to the point of some police agencies being taken over from within and committing some serious crimes against the communities they patrol, and I don't think the public realizes the extent of this situation...
It's not a bit. It's a lot of bit Entitlement.
None of that is enough to even bring charges, polygraphs are not evedence, and calling his dad means nothing, and cleaning the phone means nothing
Trooper knew he wasn't 'risking his career'. He knew that even if he was caught, he'd be let go.
It's pure stupidity! To put your career in jeopardy for $3000 dollars he obviously wasn't thinking!
I’m sure that’s the first and only time he’s ever broken any rules.
ALL THOSE HE ARRESTED WHERE MONEY WAS SEIZED SHOULD BE QUESTIONED ABOUT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT AND COMPARED WITH WHAT WENT TO THE BANK.
Thats obvious he is such an incompetent
thief too useless to cover his tracks
So stupid he could never get away with it

Trust cops !!! hell no
Everyone he arrested should appeal. First time my behind
the lack of accountability in this “investigation” and these investigators dont investigate the cops that literally ruin ppls lives
I got no problem with cops arresting people for DUI’s
A demotion is not enough. The citizens should help regulate
Why do they think cutting his pay and moving him to a different part of the state would make him a better cop?
They don't care . He tows the line. He's willing to hassle and arrest people for little or no reason and break the law and violate the constitution for the government. They're demoting him for being stupid enough to get caught. Or, cause he didn't kick up his bosses share.
The same thinking that moved priests from one diocese to another!
He must’ve been making lots of money to be cut by $11k and still be livable wage for him at a new location. I call bull! Bet they kept his salary the same and said that as a publicity stunt. Only reason why they didn’t keep him there was because of the media investigating but he’s doing okay at a different department nearby. Still hang out with his old pals and laugh about getting away with it.
They are using the Catholic Church playbook...
He's back on patrol. Gee, that's really wonderful.
“The police investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing.”
Nearly every single time!
oh they found wrong doing... they just couldnt prove it in court...
Crooked cops are destroying America and the trust America has for the police is dwindling.
So no bodycams? They are going to need to be recorded the entire time they are on duty eventually, and not be allowed to turn it on/off to hide corruption
This, if we really want to have a fair and just system, make it so while working they can't turn off their body cams, and why not have it so citizens can watch their feeds whenever? This should go for politicians too. We are supposed to be their bosses, and any job a civilian has they are often monitored by management constantly.
Clearly there is a ton of corruption, just look at all the videos of this abuse of power happening on the regular and no one gets in trouble. That needs to change, otherwise we are doomed to keep this corruption going.
Thats not possible due to battery and space
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt first. Then there were 3 failed lie detectors across 2 people. Now, lie detectors aren’t proof by any stretch but when there’s multiple it does add a little credibility. Then he wiped his cell phone the day after the investigation starts. There’s no chance at that point.
bent as a 9 dollar bill i wonder if cleaning police phone is a normal thing as it must hold a 1000 bits of information about many cases
@@johnwilson6707 it’s not. Especially if it had information about cases you’d want to maintain the integrity of the information, not go around erasing things. Chain of custody, etc
@@jonahkrompart You wouldn't want to put any of that information on your cell phone in the first place, because if it was subpoenaed into court the entire contents of the cellphone is now able to be reviewed in court. Not a good idea.
@@johnbravo9164 you’ve clearly never dealt with a forensic investigation before. I work in digital forensics. Go get educated before you want to come talk to me out of your rear. These are law enforcement, so you absolutely have to have proof as evidence in a case. We’re not talking about a private citizen issue. The chain of custody will absolutely want to come into question and you’d need to preserve those communications. If you think law enforcement doesn’t discuss cases in writing on a cell phone that’s ignorant.
@@jonahkrompart You have clearly never been a police officer before, I have. you dont put "evidence" of a crime on your personal cellphone because it can and will be subpoenaed to court and all the contents of the cellphone including things that dont pertain to the case will be discovered. No department in the history of policing has ever done a "chain of custody" on a cellphone. its either on their reporting system, or an actual piece of paper that stays with the evidence in the storage area, or both. Your experience in "digital forensics" is cool and all, but hardly makes you "educated" on police evidence policies, and court room procedure.
There are plenty of people that have integrity and are honest that are looking for a good job. Seems the police and sheriff departments aren't interested in hiring them. It's no wonder communities are rebelling when it comes to police contact. Time to fire the dishonest cheats and bully's starting at the top.
Past time for firings. Indictments followed by aggressive prosecution.
A thief is a thief
the cops promote compromised people who have been vetted to be dishonest and have committed their own crimes on the job, this way they know that their supervisors will not prosecute them when they commit crimes because everyone in the club is tainted with one thing or another.
Look at all the lawsuits against cops & police departments all over the country!! Look at all the phone camara recordings of traffic stops or cops coming to a house or on a sidewalk/street or business & how they esculate into a false arrest on trumped up charges & these cops do not care if they are taken to court!!
This trooper still has 3,000 times more integrity, courage, and respect than that low life pool hall grifter and pirate Joe Brandon Biden. Biden does his piracy in plain sight even as a so called "public servant" in foreign "dealings." Why are any police departments able to investigate themselves? They should have another police department's Internal Affairs investigate instead.
How can this officer be trusted after this, every arrest going forth will be questioned, and dismissed.
No excuses. They all should be fired. You don't give criminals 2nd changes.
I’m sure your daddy got a second chance at one point
some cops are equally as corrupt as any cartel, and should be treated exactly like they would treat a common citizen in the same situation.
