    I'd like to mention that Hardy Bearing is one of the most important skills for AR Def teams to counter Vantage strats. Teams without counters to vantage strats are easy pickings.

    • @rattlerainredrum8280
      @rattlerainredrum8280 4 года назад +1

      Veronica or firesweep weapons are viable alternatives to this. Cause Hardy Bearing in Aether Defense is only useful on Ophelia, Lilina and other units that hit really hard on one blow
      So I'd say that Hardy Bearing is not that huge of a priority if one doesn't have one of these units

    • @nathancory7278
      @nathancory7278 4 года назад +5

      @@rattlerainredrum8280 I would also like to add that Hardy Bearing is straight up crucial on AR Defence, not just because of Vantage but because of B!Ike. Take a Sothis for example, not someone you would traditionally expect to be a good user of it - she loses to B!Ike every single time, but with Hardy Bearing Ike's in serious (or Sirius in this case I suppose haha) danger of being KO'd in one round.
      In higher levels of AR healers like Veronica just don't have the offensive to break through walls and your defence team's power will usually be lacking somewhat for using them (Firesweep weapons do a little better in this regard but still not perfect). Also, your healer/Firesweep unit may check Vantage but if your opponent has Null C Disrupt then your unit is almost complete deadweight. Also if you only have one Vantage check on your team, then your opponent can simply snipe that one unit and Vantage sweep the rest of the team.
      Hardy Bearing should never be underestimated, it's honestly brilliant

    • @TheSacredSpear

      I don't think it would be as bad if they just re-ran a few old seals in the newer Tempest Trials as additional rewards. Or instead of just recycling through the same flat stat boosters in Squad Assault they could put in old seals so at least newer players may have a chance to save some coins.

    • @lapniappe
      @lapniappe 4 года назад +7

    • @polarisraven5613
      @polarisraven5613 4 года назад +2

      @@lapniappe No kidding, especially around the release of Stance, Blow, & Bond skills, a new must have every Tempest Trial. Kid you not I probably have about as many perfect IV highly sought after units that I simply don't use as the ones I use, because they need the same Sacred Seal (often a double Bond setup, +10 to 2 stats, usually armors). AR Defense really either locks those seals down for the week, or throws you into a rush when using them on other units so as to minimize the window that someone can run into them while that skill is unequipped. Really hoping they'll release some sort of clone Sacred Seal, that allows you to make a tier 1 copy of any existing skill not obtained from Squad Assault (or maybe that too, but there's bound to be some flamers when their siblings or relatives log into their game on a shared device and use all of their clone seals on them).

    I personally enjoy deflect melee. I run it on my bold fighter firesweep Arden because, with bold fighter, he’ll charge pavise when he initiates and strikes twice. Then when he gets attacked (and will get doubled, since he’s so slow) he’ll reduce the first the first hit with pavise, and the second with deflect melee. It’s one of my favorite builds to run.

For example, when you talked about the Ploy seals, it would be nice if there was a small diagram on-screen showing how it applies its effect in the four cardinal directions, or when you talked about the Drive seals, showing how big their area-of-effect was.

    Brash Assault + Desperation is actually workable with one of the double Fury users. Like for example Eldigan or Batre. Their attack is so high, that most foes will die to a double attack and they usually only need to survive about two foes to pull it off, which they usuall can because Fury 6 (or 7) increases their already decent defence even further. In Arena its useless, because there aren't enough foes, but it can work in Aether Raids, Røkkr Sieges, Tempest Trials and Grand Conquest. Also, Batre can utilize Infantry Rush to blow up the foes with Bonfires before they can even act.

    well it's true that defiant look's really bad actually but i find it really interesting on 1 unit in particular (or at least one type on unit): vantage blade tome sweeper w/ this and legendary azura you can get easy access to the max buff of blade tome w/ +7 on each stat and even without taking legendary azura in count getting the defiant atk on seal slot on a vantage blade tome unit is a total of +14 atk just by hitself but yeah you have to be aware of panic debuff for that to work but the fact that blade tome always have to take care of panic just don't change anything for them. But yeah for new player perspective brazen are way more usefull and generic (also you mention breath of life for rooker but obstruct can also be great on this mode against horse rooker to stop them from moving around easly and try to block them in a corner more easly). And at last desperation/ brash assault is a really powerfull combo if used on brave weapons unit, having a reinhardt or a brave lyn just running around quad attacking everyone is scary as hell, also if desperation male it's way into the seal at any time, be ready to see brave weapons/bold fighter desperation armor running around (please no imagine BK runing that and pretty much starting to black lune to hell any unit on the game xD)

    My personal favorites are the Flier mobility seals, they're incredibly fun to use. I also have a soft spot for the Feint skills, and I really think they should be made more common, since my Summer Innes' Def Feint with the Atk Feint seal has come in clutch when running Tempest Trials. They're definitely not for everyone, but when my best Ploy units are outdone in Res by a regular Nagi, I really appreciate their niche utility.

    • @TheSacredSpear

    I would say don't sleep on Darting stance sacred seal because enemy phase speed can help units with "okay" speed deny double hits to oppressive, fast sweepers.
    I regularly use Darting Stance seal on my Fjorm (and Steady Stance 4 A-slot, huehue) and on her, it gets the job done better than quick riposte sometimes. I also use it in a build on Cormag who I built for mixed phase, where he can double certain units on enemy phase or simply tank them by denying a second attack. Tanking with speed comes in clutch sometimes!
    Other seals are higher priority for sure: but I would say if anyone has the coins to spare and an omega tank/really good unit with mixed bulk and "okay" speed, it's worth it for certain endgame content and Coliseum modes.

    Deflect Melee allows tanky/slow units to initiate attacks and survive the double retaliation and safely enter Vantage. Then it's fun times with Special accelerating/amplifying weapons like Dark Mystletainn, Hauteclere or Brazen weapons like Sealed Falchion, Folkvangr etc.
    Deflect Missile is good on Micaiah/Leo or anyone else that has damage reduction on the first hit. Mickey can deal with Brave Bow Lyn on the Enemy Phase.

    Two things:
    Firstly, Deflect Magic doesn't just work on Tomes, it also works against Dragonstones, so it can be an option for low res, slow units if they can't counterattack the source of magic damage you're facing.
    Secondly, the Deflect seals STACK with Brave Ike's weapon, to ultimately make Ike take a mere 4% of the calculated damage he would take from that attack. If you use him with Deflect Magic, you can basically ignore his Res because he comes with enough HP and res to make a one-hit KO unlikely, and he can just counterattack and heal afterwards.

    I really wish I could get more copies of the Flier Formation seal. At least the B slot version is no longer super rare (I've eaten more than one Archer Hinoka for her Flier Formation), but I still have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it onto all of the fliers that I want it on and more seals would open up flier set options by a ton. Same with Live To Serve and Savage Blow, but less because I would theoretically want to use multiple copies on the same team and more because I use them on two or three different units and builds that I switch between a lot and moving them around all the time is a hassle.

    okay
    so, briefly, for some of the newer seals (ignoring the newer variants of already sacred seal skills that don't have a different enough epplication to be of note)
    Swift Sparrow:...pretty much any layer phase unit wants/can use this, besides bold fighter armors or other units with free folowups. any unit your trying to fix the speed of wants this. like, i'd say swift sparrow seal be one of the seals you prioritize
    Death Blow: finally. any unit that wants DB on a slot over swift sparrow will want DB seal over swift sparrow seal. or if you want to meme with supidly high attack stats. or if you want to make certain rokkr cheese strats more consistent. honestly, another great seal
    Speed/res solo: ...an odd one, but actually works better than you'd expect. i like it msot when trying to patch up your res and/or equalize your defense and res. and considering the gen 4 speed meta, the +6 speed is really hepful. and the solo condition is not hard at all
    Sorcery Blade: everyone forgot about it as an A slot, because msot good a slots were preferable. however, as a seal? holy shit it just became alot better, even if you need to be smart with planning and positioning
    Live to serve: actually pretty nice for healers because that means they can run this and not ruin wrazzledazzle.
    close guard and distant guard: pretty nice support actually pretty much...pretty much drive close defense/distant defense. i find this to be better on seal slot nowadays with joint drives and whatnot existing. or on healers
    Phantom res: at first glance, can be a tad "huh", but with the amount fo res checks these days (Sabotages, Temari, and Yune to name a few), phantom res can be really helpful to either help your res checks for shit, and/or hinder your opponents

    I run Threaten Def 3 on my Zephiel. With Wary Fighter, he usually gets sorrounded by units, and stacking this effect with his refined Eckesacks' built-in Threaten Atk 4 is hillariously effective at stopping damage, while my Winter Eirika takes care of his HP staying high.
    Poison Strike I use it on y Windsweep Jaffar, to knock out bulky units faster. Savage Blow on the C slot combined with his Deathly Dagger already provides enough AoE damage, and frees the seal for whenever I get a good Pain+ healer.
    HP+5 and HP+4 I use them to adjust HP values for my Infantry Pulse formations, and Fjorm's Gallarbu.
    Water Boost I sometimes run it on FCorrin. I don't like swapping seals and she has already amazing Def, so Distant Defense feels like a waste. Warding Stance is my second choice if I don't need to initiate, and I sometimes run Deflect Magic and Panic Ploy if I need to deal with a Desperation user or a Blade tome. I wish I could give her a more consistently useful seal however. For a time I considered Flashing Blade to recharge her Sacred Cowl on the each attack and deal with Bold Figther mages better, but since I have Infantry Flash now, using this seal on the anyone other than LMarth himself is simply a crime against nature.
    If you are gonna upgrade a seal for LAzura, have it be Torrent Dance. It's more fitting and you get the universal +5 anyway.
    Breath of Life can be an amazing option if you run the healing weapons of the first Performing Arts banner. Performing Olivia is my personal recommendation, since you are will want to debuff people with her every once in a while.
    And speaking of Flashing Blade, this is THE Seal that you should hold off on upgrading. You usually want to have 5 more speed than your opponent tools double them, and if you don't, you rarely get good use out of the seal, so I'd recommend keeping it as tier 1 until you have have nothing else important to upgrade.
    I looove Flier Formation and it's sister seals. I don't have much use for Flier Guidance since I have a Hinoka (who holds the Iote Shield seal), but I absolutely recommend upgrading this one first, followed by the normal Guidance that I run on my FGrima on my Dragon Emblem. Myrrh has the Aerobatics seal, Andy Cordelia runs the Flier Formation seal so I have space for Desperation on the the B slot.
    Brash Assault is AMAZING. Just give it to Cherche or Reinhardt alongside Desperation and Luna or Draconic Aura, get them below half health with Ardent Sacrifice or a similar method and just watch them quad and annihilate everything and everyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. Don't forget to upgrade this baby, I assure you, you will NOT regret it. Just look at this:
    ruclips.net/video/QQrKn15ssz0/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/XgjWPoWBMbg/видео.html
    On the A skill, Death Blow 4 is the meta choice but I like Brazen Atk/Spd 3 that can be found on the GHB hero Linus and can help you break through skills like Wary Fighter.

      Additionally he already has the effect built into his weapon so using it in the first place will simply stack the effect. 80% reduction followed by 80% reduction will likely result in single digit damage mitigation nearly every time. Watching this video on a whim kind of gave me an idea for Female Corrin. Since her Gloom Breath is a Threathen + Seal + Smoke Attack Speed, why not take advantage of the Threathen Defense or Threathen Resistance Seal to add an extra +5 Def or Res. Since neither Seal Defense or Resistance are a thing yet, I argue that they could have a place on her weapon with "Debuff Doubler."

      Though, Defiant Skills still give a unit +7 bonuses on every stat when L! Azura sings them. So in the end bonus stats wise, it's better than Tactics and Earth Dance. The other way to get this result is with Tier 4 hone skills (Hone Atk 4 or Hone Spd 4), but those skills are very rare. So if you really want to give a unit +7 to every stat but you don't have Tier 4 hone skills, then you can use Defiant Skills. It at least synergizes well with Blade tomes and Laevatein, and maybe some bonus doubler units. So it's not entirely useless, but each person has their own opinion.

    These suggestions are really bad for AR. For example, Brazen Atk/Res or Brazen Atk/Def are high priority seals and are some of the best in the game. They should be built immediately. Hardy Bearing is a good seal to make once you start making defense teams.
    Spd/Res Bond and Swift Stance are actually very useful as there are number of enemy phase units who have a lot of speed points, but often not enough to double. Legendary Tiki or Female Kana are good examples. Pretty much any enemy phase unit with low 30 speed can use these, which is superior to quick reposte - we can save that for units who truly have abysmal speed.

    • @Mattroid99
      @Mattroid99 4 года назад

      Fully agree on the first part, but Spd/Res bond is not that great in AR, you don't want your tanks to say near someone otherwise they could get sniped. And in defense can work but there are generally much better options
      And generally Swift Stance is good alongside QR to win Spd checks when it comes to Impact skills.
      But yeah, is not the first time he talks about AR and gives horrible advices, in fact it happens quite often (Like when he talked about Brunnya)

      All 4 find good use on my teams. Triple Brazen Calica is a monster, sometimes 1 hits B! Hector and L! Tiki, both being tanky blue units as opposed to her red.
      And Quick Riposte works in good synergy with Bold Fighter, guarantees a followup on both phases assuming hp threshold for QR is maintained in most cases.
