    This topic ended up being a lot larger than expected, which is why I split it into two videos. Hope you guys enjoyed my perspective on the Emblem Buffs and how I use them for my own teams. I want to reiterate that there are tons of different ways to equip your team with these buffs, so don’t take my examples as what you need to do to be successful. They are simply guidelines that you can think about when making your own teams. If you have any interesting Emblem team set-ups you want to share or if you have any questions and just want some advice, then leave a comment and hopefully me or someone else can help you out.

      The Sacred Spear, this was awesome.
      When I was making my Teams this would of helped.
      Btw, for Flier teams Hone is great, but goad/ward stack and they don't need to be next to each other. Also, they are not effected by Panic skills.

    Just to state the obvious, if you want to run a full bladetome team, you should definitely run 2x hone and fortify on your units - this helps to ensure that your units will be full buffed at all times.

      Won Seok Song Woah there buddy you shouldn’t be using an entire blade tome team because units like b!ike, b!lyn, or Julia/diedre who have nullifying properties or units like BK, Dragons, and some healers who uses Panic effect to turn to negative stat boosts

      It's especially good if you use that as your Arena defense team because then you have a better chance for the AI to at least get some buffs passed around.

    3:48 Ward Cavalry is also found on Olwen. She is a 5* exclusiv, but she has the skill and thus is worth to be mentioned.
    Especially since you mentioned the seasonal units for the Flier and Armor Emblem.

    If you are running multiple bladetomes on cav/fliers running 2 hones and 2 fortifies are better than 1 of each and goad+ward
    If you make the formation like
    HH HF
    FF HF
    Then everyone will get +6 to all stats, maintaining the buffs on bladetomes easier

    When deciding which buffs to use, it's important to note the differences between hones and goads (and fortifies vs wards).
    Hone buffs rely on your positioning at the start of your turn, while goads rely on your positioning at the start of combat.
    This means it's very hard to apply goad buffs in a hit-and-run playstyle. If you want to charge forward and retreat, you usually need to overextend a single unit for combat, then move the rest of your team to reposition them into safety. This means there is no opportunity to place your teammates in range for goads before combat, since it ruins your disengage. For player phase units, goads are almost entirely worthless.
    This is why horse emblem solely relies on hones/fortifies. Their carries (Reinhardt, Cecilia, Gunnthra, Lyn) play the hit-and-run playstyle, and their 3 movement allows them to overextend even further from their allies. Goads do not benefit these carries, so most teams will either run alternative C skills (ATK/SPD smoke), or double up on hones and fortifies to enable more powerful positional moves (such as splitting the enemy team). With cheap access to Hone skills, there is almost no reason to run goads.
    Fliers are mostly in the same boat as horses. The strongest fliers have a hit-and-run playstyle, strengthened by their unparalleled disengage options and their excellent offensive spreads. They can also match cavalry's engage potential, since they can reposition their units forward (but at the cost of poor positioning for the next turn). This is why hone fliers is such a premium for them - it enables the hyper aggressive playstyle and synergizes with Blade tomes better. However, unlike horse emblem, they only have two movement, and their carries like to run Galeforce. This means in a lot of situations (like the aforementioned splitting the enemy team strategy), disengage is not necessary. In these situations, goad fliers can act as a budget substitute for hone fliers. There are also a lot of enemy phase fliers that actually prefer goads to hones. However, the strongest flier teams are the ones that can take advantage of their mobility for powerful drive-bys, and those teams heavily favour hone buffs.
    Armour emblem is different. Without Armour March, they have almost no engage opportunities, and melee armoured units cannot initiate on ranged units without taking a hit first. Even with Armour March, their mobility is comparable to infantry, and do not have a strong hit-and-run playstyle. Instead, most of them are strongest on the enemy phase. This means they get reliable access to full benefits from goads, which stack and are therefore more powerful than hones (and immune to panic).
    tl;dr Hones/Fortifies on player phase, Goads/Wards on enemy phase. Horse/Flier emblem are worse than infantry at enemy phase, so run player phase and use Hones. Armour emblem is fantastic at enemy phase, so use Goads/Wards.

    This is a great guide for beginners!
    With the addition of Christmas units, I had lots of TT and Arena success making essentially two man groups.
    Group 1: Tharja (Hone) x Henry (march)
    Group 2: Lyssa (Fortify) x Robin (march)
    This allowed for a more aggressive use of player phase and enemy phase play. In a three man core for Arena, I use Henry, Tharja, and Effie w/Ward. Still working out the kinks of not having a fully invested Effie tough. ^^;

    Another point of consideration when building teams: do you use dual rally? Dual rally is good for arena points with the 300 sp cost, so they are preferred over positioning skills with are only 150 sp. Rally doesn't stack with fortify or hone. There is also the fortify and hone seal to consider, as those don't stack either.
    There is also the issue of panic effects which make an important plus for goads and wards over hones and fortify. (of course hones and fortify have the bladetomes as a plus)

    Really liked this video! Only complaint about this video is when you discussed about what unit should have what buff, depending on your team your main damage dealer might be a -blade tome user and since they use blade tome they probably shouldn’t be holding onto a fortify buff. But other than that this is a great video

    I'd like to share my own recommendations for each emblem team.
    I enjoy using a flier emblem team which runs 3 goad fliers (Cherche, Elincia, and Cordelia) and 1 hone fliers (from my H!Nowi). The entire team has an offensive playstyle and enjoys increased attack and speed (Cherche with Iote's Shield and enough buffs can have enough speed to survive Brave Lyn). With use of reposition and drag back, they finish a unit and then retreat back to safety.
    My horse emblem team has 3 hone cavalry (Brave Lyn, Eldigan, and Elise) and 1 goad cavalry (Reinhardt). The entire purpose of the team is for Elise to use Gravity+ to debuff the enemy team's movement and for my units to pick them off and retreat with Draw Back. Eldigan serves as an amazing tank to block off chokepoints when needed.
    My armor emblem team features a Bladetome +Atk Henry with Armor March, with a Hone Armor Tharja and a Fortify Armor Effie. Hector's Goad Armor is also there, though he might get replaced by Guidance Airzura. Henry oneshots everything, and Tharja and Effie never die.
    My dragon emblem team is currently made up of a Ninian and a Tiki. I'm still waiting for Hone Dragons.

    In the long-term, it's probably a good idea to keep more than one kind of buff on heavily used units for flexibility since skills can be switched depending on your needs. For example, I don't necessarily need a full emblem team to complete specific maps and end up with mixed teams. But if using a pair of same movement type units, two hones for example will help them be more offense oriented should a map require a strategy of hitting hard and fast. I'm reminded of clearing one of the squad assaults where I need both horse units to have their +6 Atk/Spd from each other's hone skill since they need to take out their targets on opposite ends of the map. Upon retreating, they can rebuff themselves again and fulfill their respective roles.

    My Cavalry team uses double Hone, single Fortify, single Goad - mainly in case I choose to use Xander or Camus and can potentially double with them (or prevent a double)
    My Flier team has.. triple casters (1 Hone, 2 Fort on them), and a Goad Flier provider (might be using NY Camilla to give Ward+Kadomatsu+ instead though)

  • @ACeeTheCrazy
    @ACeeTheCrazy 6 лет назад

    I just use double hone and fortify for horse emblem because it's much simpler to have each pair buffing eachother and if you're allowed, have a square formation for +6 all stats for everyone. In case they get split up, you can go 2 pairs buffing eachother up for their respective roles (My xander buffs offense to reinhardt, he buffs him defensively).
    Armor march is also pretty neat with defensive units like hector and Black knight if they haven't procced their special. Bait, charge then move in for the kill with a charged ignis/black luna. Although in my case, brave lance effie and amelia are offensively enough for PvE content.

    As someone who has gotten really lucky pulling fliers (and until F!Morgan came out, had all the mage fliers), it's easily my most built and most enjoyed theme emblem. I wish Caeda would come home again, I foddered her off for Fortify Fliers once, and now that she has Wing Sword, I want to build her...

      I've been trying to build an armor core for arena defense. My full armor team currently is Black Knight, Effie, Halloween Henry, and Halloween Jakob, but I'm thinking of removing Henry and Jakob for Winter Tharja and Hector.
      My armor core I was thinking of was Winter Tharja, Effie, and Sheena. All three have pretty even defense and resistance (I gave Effie a resistance refined Berkut's Lance, so she gets up to 34 resistance when attacked), and I'm thinking of giving Sheena Distant Counter so she can attack ranged units, allowing all three to attack regardless of distance.
      I've been really liking Armor Emblem and I want to make a dedicated team to them. Would those three be a good arena defense core?

    • @roseblade3481
      @roseblade3481 6 лет назад

      vgmaster02 they are fantastic! Effie, Winter Tharja are my core. Sheena, Hector, Amelia, and Halloween Jakob are perfect fits.

    • @vgmaster02
      @vgmaster02 6 лет назад

      This was my idea for my armor core with their current skills/ideas for missing skills:
      Winter Tharja: Candelabra+ (+Res), Swap, Iceberg, Close Counter, Vengeful Fighter, Ward Armor
      Effie: Berkut's Lance+ (+Res), Swap, Bonfire, Distant Counter, Wary Fighter, Ward Armor
      Sheena: Slaying Axe+, Swap, Ignis, Distant Counter, Wary Fighter, Ward Armor/Fortify Armor
      Still don't know what to refine Slaying Axe+ with. Thinking of giving Winter Tharja Ignis since 20 speed (Candelabra gives +2 speed when attacked) should be slow enough that enemies will double attack her, which would always activate Ignis (and I say Ignis because she has 37 defense and 36 resistance, which I think is just enough of a difference that Ignis adds just a tiny extra damage)
      That's my idea for my armor core. Are they any good?

    • @JosepiThe13th
      @JosepiThe13th 6 лет назад

      vgmaster02 Base Slaying Axe+'a refinement on what Sheena needs most between Res and Def. For example, my Sheena is +Def, so I refined her Slaying Axe with Res so she could have 39 Def and 37 Res without buffs. Still lack an extra Hector to throw out for DC though.

    • @vgmaster02
      @vgmaster02 6 лет назад

      My Sheena is +Res/-Spd, so both her defense and resistance are 36 (well, 37 defense now cause I made her +1 merge). That's why I'm debating refining Slaying Axe+ with more attack, which would put her at 46 attack, cause I got my Sheena with the right IVs to have balanced defense and resistance. I know that's what I did for refining Tharja's and Effie's weapons was to balance their stats, but Sheena came balanced from her IVs, so idk whether to skew one of them in one direction or just refine Slaying Axe+ with +Atk to maintain the balance like her two allies. I want to try and keep them all able to take on any hit.

    Disagree on the one Hone and one Fortify max. Say you have Hone Cavalry on a Reinhardt. He can give Hones, but can’t receive them. If you want your whole team to recieve buffs, then you have to run two of each.

  • @JosepiThe13th
    @JosepiThe13th 6 лет назад +4

    I actually have a very powerful Flier Emblem team despite being F2P. I got lucky enough to summon a +Atk -Def Summer Corin, who I made my Summoner Support unit, and a +Atk -Res Cherche, who is now a 5* with Brave Axe+ and Death Blow. I also have a +1 +Spd -Def Hinoka and a +Spd -Res 4* +6 Palla (I'm hoping to change her IVs to +Atk -Spd or -HP when I get more merges on her). I gave Fortify Fliers to my Cherche, and her and Hinoka buff Summer Corrin and Palla with +6 to each stat!
    With her insane Atk and Spd, Summer Corrin can kill any unit in her path. Surprisingly, with Summoner Support, she can take a hit from Hector even though she's -Def! She's easily the major sweeper of my team.
    Being the only unit with Hone Fliers that isn't exclusive, Hinoka is mostly used as a buffer for Corrin and Palla. But sometimes, she likes to jump in with her Brave Lance and quad people, which is why I have her Life and Death 3 and Desperation. Now that Threaten Spd is a sacred seal, she can quad many more units without losing her ability to buff.
    Cherche is very clearly my blue tank, but she also works somewhat like an axe tank and a bait unit too. Her low Res and Spd means keep her away from any combat with mages, so I find myself using her as a buffer that can nuke when she needs to with her Brave Axe+ Death Blow Bonfire combo. And now, I can potentially run a Quad set with her thanks to the Brash Assault sacred seal. Still undecided about that one though.
    Palla is I'd say my favorite flying red unit by far. Although people say Elincia is better, I still find much more use in Palla thanks to her great defensive stat spreadline. I used to have Iote's Shield as her A skill so she could tank archers too, but now that it's a sacred seal, I can finally run Fury on her as well. I'm also thinking about giving her Bow Breaker so she doesn't get Quaded by Brave Bow Brave Lyn, because that shit hurts, even WITH Iote's Shield. I just wish I had a Gray so I could SP train with Palla faster. I'll probably pop my F2P bubble and buy some orbs just so I can hopefully get Gray while his banner is still here (kinda salty after Karel ruined my pity rate AND stole all of my orbs).

      Very nice! Flier Emblem and Armor Emblem to an extent does require some summoning luck to get the right units if you want both teams at their highest potential. While I still haven't seen a Halloween Nowi with a bladetome, I've seen enough Spring Camillas and Summer Corrins to understand how ridiculous they can be. Camilla is tanky and Corrin is fast and when they are buffed up they are by far some of the scariest arena threats I've faced.

    I hope that IS eventually comes out with class buffs for infantry eventually.

    • @straypaper
      @straypaper 6 лет назад +14

      Well, I sincerely hope not to be honest. Emblem buffs are made to compensate each move type weakness. Horses and Fliers have reduced BST, so they need the buffs to function better. Armors only have one space of movement, so they can only play passively and they need the buff to maximize their counterattacks. Fortify Dragon is where IS realizes that Infantries, especially Dragons, do not need more stats, which is why I imagine they haven't released Hone Dragon. Infantries are known to do well even on +4 buffs. With the addition of Infantry Pulse, it gives them the much needed edge without being another Emblem team that's reliant on staying in formation.

    • @OnlyMain1
      @OnlyMain1 6 лет назад +7

      straypaper I agree with some of that buy not all. The problem is that emblem teams like armor emblem and horse emblem are dominating the higher levels of arena, to the point where it is just the same teams over and over again which makes the game more boring, so even without class buffs for infantry IS needs to promote variety in the meta so that it doesn't become eternal mirror matches. I feel it is boring to see the same armor team over and over again, especially with the new skills that armor got in the Christmas event with bold and vengeful fighter. Although infantry doesn't have as many movement based weaknesses, it needs some more skills to be able to compete with the armor emblem and the like. Simply put, infantry pulse is not effective enough to counteract much of the powercreep that armor got in the Christmas banner.

    • @straypaper
      @straypaper 6 лет назад +4

      The new Tactics skill on Siegbert and Shiro promotes mixed teams, so I think that's a step in the right direction. I do hope infantry get a buff, but not in the form of more stats. I'm imagining something in line with "gain one Special charge if this unit starts the turn next to another Infantry ally" or "after combat, move foe to unit's opposite side (like reposition)" or "if there is another infantry ally on foe's opposite side, gain +10 Atk during combat (backstab)" to go with "When under 50% HP, this unit can move next to any foe with 75% or more HP (Wings of Judgement)".

    • @OnlyMain1
      @OnlyMain1 6 лет назад +7

      straypaper I entirely agree. I just think the tactics skills are rather underwhelming, they are a step in the right direction but they are just no where near competitive with the likes of ward armor. I do agree that infantry would be better with that kind of infantry skill. I must say I like the idea that most of the class specific skills like flier formation and the fighter skills are designed to create an identity for the emblem teams with fliers being all about mobility and armors being about making up for their low speeds.

    • @g.n.s.153

      Fliers do not have a BST penalty and the measly -3 on horses doesn't make them unusable without emblem buffs.That being said I'd like to see more skills like Infantry Pulse, stats buff are great but I prefer the idea of infantries having their own special bonuses.

    On a different note, my horse emblem team is still not complete as i've never summoned a Jagen.... I'm not kidding, he's still darkened out in my heroes catalog, Cecilia is still waiting for that fully powered Gronnblade.

    Flier emblem is the most expensive emblem and has the most potential (in my opinion) I would like to hear what you guys think which is the best emblem

    • @blackcorona07
      @blackcorona07 6 лет назад +4

      Joshua Mars
      All have their up- and downsides.
      Horse Emblem is easy to build but can easily be countered.
      Flier Emblem can have enormous potential, if you have the right units, due to them beeing uneffected by terrain.
      Armor Emblem can be a pain if you go for full offense or defense, but is very expensive to make since it usually costs atleast one Hector for DC and now on top of that many rely on Armor March which is exclusiv to Amelia, H!Henry and W!Robin which are 5* or limited.

    • @blackcorona07
      @blackcorona07 6 лет назад +1

      Joshua Mars Currently Im trying to build my Flier Emblem.
      My currently half assed team is a lot of fun already. I just love not beeing restricted by terrain and thus abusing skills like Hit'n Run, Draw Back and Reposition.
      I'd love to build an Armor Emblem too, since I got everything you'd need for it except a fucking Hector... 3 Amelias (all on different banners) and no Hector so far...

      I'm sure you sure both emblems wonderfully done. Weird question what do you think about owl tomes

    • @blackcorona07
      @blackcorona07 6 лет назад

      Joshua Mars Well I can only speak of my experience with using Innes Nidhogg so far because I didnt level Boey or Mae, but I can see them working wonders on an Armor Emblem.
      Having the units all together isnt a rarity in Armor Emblem and so the effect will do great.
      On Flier and Horse Emblem they probably wont be that useful though since they have a better movement range.

    I like 2 hones though because 1. A single unit with hone will not get the buff themselves and 2. If you try to hone all 3 of your other units, you won't be able to fortify more than 1 unit. I almsot always go with 2 hones and 2 fortifies.

      Yes, field buffs like Fortify and Hones will last through the enemy phase and you will need to re-apply them when its the player phase again.

    Mmm...I got lucky on the NY banner and ended with NY Camilla and NY Azura on 16 orbs.
    Now my Flier team is Hinoka / NY Camilla / NY Azura / Cherche. That means that I am running Hone Attack x2 (Hinoka/NY Azura)and Ward Fliers (NY Camilla). Cherche has Threaten Def 3.
    Should I change Cherche Threaten Def 3 for Goad Fliers and NY Camilla for Fortify Fliers?

    • @blackcorona07

      Bass88 Thats a full melee Flier emblem, dont you have a tome flier?

      Nop. Not a single one (and all are seasonal so hat doesn't help unless Hallowen / Summer is on the next legendary banner)

    • @blackcorona07
      @blackcorona07 6 лет назад +1

      Bass88 Well if the legendary banners follow the same path as before we should get the summer units in the next two banners.
      I have Camilla and Nowi but miss Corrin so I will summon for her on the legendary she will be in.
      Swapping Cordelia for an S!Corrin would do your team a favor too, since S!Corrin can deal enourmous dmg to blues and reds, while your Cherche and NY!Camilla can take care of greens. Azura seals the deal since she can sing to get a unit out of range or finish an unfinished job.

    • @TheSacredSpear
      @TheSacredSpear  6 лет назад +1

      For Cherche you could go for Goad Fliers, since your other fliers would enjoy the Atk/Spd buff, but I don't think its a must. NY Camilla is actually in an interesting spot if you use her default weapon. Her Kadomatsu+ actually has a mini Ward effect and grants +2 Def/Res to allies within 2 spaces. With Ward Fliers she provides +6 Def/Res to her flier allies and that's actually pretty good. Of course if you can apply Fortify Fliers than she can potentially grant +8 Def/Res, but you need to have her apply the actual buff at the start of the turn. I feel like both are good, just comes down to how you play with your flier team.

    I was lucky enough to get SCamilla, HNowi, 2 Hinokas ( +Atk ), NYAzura, And NYCamilla. In addition, I have Cherche, Cordelia, Beruka, Shanna, Michalis, and Camilla, All 5*. As you can tell, I love fliers. I have been playing them since the beginning, and I can tell you, using a dual blade tome team, 2x Fortify and 2x Hones are their best option. It allows the tome users to be buffed +6 to all stats, and pump out 24 extra damage, in addition to their great attack. I have horse emblem, Leo, Ursula, Cecilia, Lyn, Reinhardt, Xander, and it's not nearly as good as my flier emblem. I find it really underwhelming, actually. For armor emblem, I really want to make it, but I only have 3 reds, one blue, and 2 greens. Zephiel, Arden, Black Knight, - Effie, - Sheena and Lissa. As you can see, I don't have enough for a viable team. If I were to specify them, I'd say
    Armor emblem - Best Defense
    Flier emblem - Best Offense
    Horse Emblem - Best movement.
    That's just what I see, but whatever.

    I have a Flier Emblem consisting of H! Nowi(Blade), NY! Azura, Cordelia and Bunny Camilla(Raven/TA). I use Hone Fliers on Azura and Goad Fliers on Nowi and Cordelia. I would give Fortify Fliers to Bunny Camilla, but in the hole time Playing (since release) I only got ONE Shiida (which I wasted gg). Goddammit im so close to beeing done!

    • @g.n.s.153
      @g.n.s.153 6 лет назад

      I'd give Fortify to Cordelia instead unless you're running a tanky build(Then again, choose another lance flier for that). S!Camilla can gain a lot from the Fortify boost.

    • @3tzvirusofficial910
      @3tzvirusofficial910 6 лет назад

      G.N.S. yeah I have thought about that too, but my Bunny Camilla sadly has -Atk so she needs all the Firepower she can get to be able to One shot Brave Lyn. Damage to Bunny Camilla is pretty low, she has Iote's Shield Seal, so Brave Lyn does 5 DMG max, and she can tank QP Moonbow Reinhardt as well. If I had 2x Fortify Fliers I would try what works best, but as I said above I have trouble getting it just once. Fortify Fliers Is just there to maximize Nowis Damage when needed, even though she can ORKO a good amount of Blue units already.

    • @g.n.s.153
      @g.n.s.153 6 лет назад

      My Bunilla is -Atk +Def and I see what you mean, B!Lyn is hard to OHKO since she completely ignores Fortify/Hone when she's using Mulagir but I feel safer baiting Rein with the Res buff.

    • @3tzvirusofficial910
      @3tzvirusofficial910 6 лет назад

      G.N.S. I thought about giving Bunny Camilla Bowbreaker or Blue Tomebreaker or Renewal or QR, instead of Vantage, have you tried any of these?

    • @g.n.s.153
      @g.n.s.153 6 лет назад

      She can't learn Bowbreaker, no fliers can. I want to switch to QR soon actually. With Iote's shield, Lyn isn't scary anymore (even with TA3 she used to chunk S!Camilla a lot) and Vantage was useful do deal with both Rein and Lyn in the same turn.

  • @ElhPudding
    @ElhPudding 6 лет назад

    I think for an team with Armor March can still be without Hone/Fortifies since running 2 Wards/Goads (Or 1 for each) and 2 Armor Marchs may be the way (Still want a last spot with a boy with Armor march, being Robin or Henry :P )
    And, already tried running Brave Axe + QR on your Frederick? I want on mine, but QR3 is only on 5* and I dont like fodder a Subaki for QR2 when I can place some feathers. But still is bad...
    And~ As a speciallist in Flier Teams I need to say that is no use of Hone/Fortifies and because of the mobility, if you have a Flier Mage that is not Witch Nowi, you can place an Owl Tome on them with the use of Ally Support :P You said +12 is disgusting, already thought about +14 Atk/Spd and +20 Atk/Spd (The Owl Tome user) in a team? :P And with the new fliers like Camilla and Azura, you can even mix the things with their weapons (But swap Azura's Hone for a Goad). Even an Armor team may be cool with Draug, Sheena or Amelia with this weapons :P
    This is why I think Cavalry is far from cheap and easy to build. In reallity a good team like these are always a bit expensive or lucky :P
    And I dont get why saying about they can be away because of the 3 mov. While training mine horse team I keep them together or separete them by the couples like: Leo (Mage Tank with Goad) goes with Abel (Swepper-Quad build with Ward), Frederick (Both phases with Brave Axe and QR and Goad in the future) goes to Eliwood (Another Sweeper with B. Durandall and L&D in the future with Ward).
    But is always fall as the playstyle, I hate using Field buffs, they are absolute garbage comparing the power of Goads and Wards.
    Btw just for fun, I will place a gif in the answer to show something cool from "Effie the Strong" :P (Hope is goes)

    I disagree with not having more than one hone or fortify. As long as the units with the same hone or fortify skills are right next to each other, they will buff each other instead of buffing another unit twice.
