@@TileBitan Well they are certainly way less than on Earth since arms seem to be the more used way of locomotion. Especially on EVA when they can't be even moved much.
Tip for futur applicants (i'm going to apply too) Anticipation is the key : in France, the medical exam required to apply is a bit tricky if you're not already a pilot : it requires lumbs radio and electrocardiogramm, done before the medical exam itself.... So godspeed ! And thanks to ESA for this unique lifetime opportunity !
As far as I can tell a class 2 pilot medical certificate is: - Uniform at the European level (part-MED), so there is no "in France" component - Radio of lungs (i suppose is what you meant) is not mandatory for class 2 - ECG can be done during the medical exam itself I am going for this exam next week, hopefully I can confirm and you will have no trouble to apply either.
I‘m kinda disappointed that I started studying law last year. I legitimately forgot that space is my actual passion so after thinking about it for a long time I decided to drop law school (I‘ve been already unhappy with it before). This July I‘ll turn 19. in October I‘ll enroll in Uni and start to study computer science. I will try to travel as much as possible even though I’m broke. I will try to learn as much as possible. I will try to get a PhD. I will try to learn a fourth language and I will try to open my very own company. Wish me luck! Hopefully I‘ll have all the qualifications and the proper age for the next selection. If this should be the case- I‘ll remind y’all!

I love the concept of the parastronaut. I hope that the feasibility study will lead to the opening of space flight to people with physical disabilities who before believed that the dream of flying in space was impossible because of their disability.
For me, becoming an astronaut isn’t only a dream but it’s also something that I’d work hard all my life to hopefully become one. I always was interested in space. 💙

Unfortunately due to the lack of funding into manned missions recruitment for astronauts is low, BUT I am curious if that will change soon. With humans to go back to the moon, I would hope that the UK (and the ESA) would want to be more of a big player in this field, especially for Mars.

why does esa not accept applications from people who studied informatics/computer science although it is part of STEM? At least the subject ist not listed on your website for possible subjects.
The requirement to need a master is a bit old fashioned I'd say, there are many more that likely have way better technical skills, exactly what is needed on the station. Added to that I hope that then the research done for that master is important as well as I know many simply do research to get that degree, this is a huge problem in science as the quality isn't always there.
'Masters Degree and three years of professional experience' maybe next time then....still, very exciting to think that those selected this time might be stepping on the Moon in a few years!

Unfortunately, only citizens of ESA Member and Associated States can work with us. But if you still want to work in space look up some of the many contractor companies that design or build satellites, conduct technology research and engineering, or employ people to work in other areas of the space business, such as science, project control, PR/communications or administration. Also check universities and research institutes.

When thinking about it some "problems" might not be problems.
Legs for example are nearly useless in zero g.

The minimum requirements for our current call, are: being a citizen of an ESA member state or associate state, holding the minimum of a Master’s degree in natural sciences, medicine, engineering, mathematics, or computer sciences or holding a degree as an experimental test pilot and/or test engineer from an official experimental test pilot school. Candidates must have at least three years of relevant professional experience after graduation and be fluent in English. Good knowledge of another foreign language and any other additional language is a plus.
Applicants do not need to hold a pilot’s license but they must submit a class 2 medical certificate issued by an aviation medical examiner that shows they are medically qualified for a private pilot licence (PPL).

By the way, do you take applicants with a degree in Transportation Engineering?

@@EuropeanSpaceAgency of course ! But i'm on my way to become an aerospace engineer and then to become an astronaut, its my ultimate dream ! In 12 years i will be 31 so an aerospace engineer with a couple years of experience. See you in 12 years !
How about you let Andreas Mogensen fly a long-duration mission? He is way overdue for that.
I want to be an astronaut but no one in my country has ever been an astronaut do u think I have what it takes

Unfortunately, only citizens of ESA Member and Associated States can work with us. But if you still want to work in space look up some of the many contractor companies that design or build satellites, conduct technology research and engineering, or employ people to work in other areas of the space business, such as science, project control, PR/communications or administration. Also check universities and research institutes.
