Not necessarily, you basically just need a strong science degree in your background. But it's true that aeronautic is a royal way. But the most royal way is still going to the army and doing pilot + engineering.

Yes, but you need to have other qualities and asset ! Do sports, get your pilot license, go skydiving or scuba diving. Degrees are important and required but they will not give you an advantage cause every body got a degree. You need to really stand out from the crowd to have a chance and be unique in order to have an interesting profil :) ! Good luck and never stop working towards this beautiful dream/goal !

You don´t have to fly military aircraft to become an astronaut. Knowing how to fly a plane certainly helps, but it is not necessary.

Hovering over what? Right now we only go to space for the iss, so if you are a pilot in general it will still help
