Jesus will always loves you💝 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life💓For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved💗 John 3:16-17💜
I am 70 ,have never made cereal but I like the idea to make for great grand children,Thank you the way you explain everything.Do not want all those dyes and chemicals
In someways you remind me so much of my mom. Of course you are way younger but she passed away 30 years ago. She did a lot of the things that you do but on a very small scale. I love how you take care of your family and work so hard to give them treats, that are good and good for them. Thank you so much for taking great care of your family! Thank you for sharing with us!
Your kids are wonderful! You are teaching them life skills and independence. I wish more parents were like you. I tried to teach my kids how to take care of themselves. My younger son is autistic, but he can do his own laundry, clean the house, and cook a meal with little fanfare. This kind of self-confidence is important for them. Maxwell is turning out to be a great cook.
That is amazing I have two autistic children both girlies.Teaching them life skills is important. If no one has told you that you are doing a great job Mamma you are.. much ❤️
Another great simple recipe is for Irish sweet soda bread, Irish fruit soda bread 400 Grams bread flour 15 grams bicarbonate of soda Pinch of salt Put all dry ingredients through a sieve into a bowl. 100 Grams raisins or Sultanas (other dried fruits would work well) 60 Grams caster sugar 330 millilitres buttermilk (plain kefir is fantastic substitute if you cannot get buttermilk) Method: Preheat oven to 180. Sieved dry ingredients into large bowl Add sugar & fruit Mix together all dry ingredients. Add wet ingredient: Using your hands add the buttermilk (Kefir) slowly mixing as you pour Do it slowly & Don’t over mix, it should be sticky but not wet. Tip onto a surface and bring it together in to a round shape ( add a little flour if needed but not much) Top tip = you can do all of this in one bowl. Cooking: Get a metal baking tray / sheet & place some baking paper on. Place your bread round on the tray pat gently with flat of your hand so it’s about 3 inches thick. Using a sharp knife cut a cross on the top about half way through (traditionally it’s called letting the fairies out / free) Bake at 180 for 25 minutes Take out & flip over & bake for further 10 minutes. Bread is cooked through when you tap the bottom & it sounds hollow.
I am so happy you discussed the requirements nutritionally for children. So many parents complain about the morning and children’s temperament and how difficult they are. When I ask about what they are feeding in the morning they usually look at me sideways😊
Thanks for showing some of your farm animals between recipes! It’s nice to see that your recipe videos are not just you in the kitchen but everyone is included!
Ruth Ann, I’ve just watched your Homemade Cereal Alternatives! AND watching you spread your sourdough on the parchment paper, made me think….. I have switched to an offset spatula to spread it. I originally bought it for doing cake decorating. It has helped soo much with keeping the parchment paper from lifting up while you’re spreading😊🎉 Kerrie (Ohio)
I just made the cereal for the first time. I am gluten intolerant, it may not have been perfect but this was so delicious. I never thought I would be able to eat cinnamon toast crunch cereal again. Thank you so much for all you do to help teach us the old ways. Blessed be to you and your family.
I make my kid’s granola as well. I stir protein powder into it as I make it to add some much needed protein for all my guys. We don’t eat it as cereal though. We use it with yogurt, with apple sauce, cottage cheese, fruit or just as a snack.
A glass of milk is a great choice. My doctor told me many years ago that it is the best and quickest way to raise your blood sugar. As you said the protein keeps your blood sugar up until you are able to eat.
Amish Baked Oatmeal is my absolute favorite! My mother received the recipe from a friend who married a former Mennonite. It takes me back to my childhood. I remember my first time tasting a commercial cereal on a trip to visit cousins in Georgia. It was fruity pebbles and I thought we were having dessert for breakfast. My little eight year old mind was blown away with sugar, artificial flavors and coloring😅
I am the same about breakfast. A couple cups of coffee is a must, but I could do without eating until @ 11:00, lunch would then be @ 3:00, and supper at 8:00 or 9:00. Especially during the summer when we are outside until dark-thirty, which is 9:30-10:00PM here. I enjoy breakfasts foods, and don’t mind cooking them, I’m just not hungry in the morning.
Watching from the UK, You’ve inspired me greatly to do my own food, so far butter, cheese, crackers, bread and now I’ll try cereal .. I also do some of your meal recipes too, thank you so much Ruth-Ann .. Enjoy your beautiful daughters wedding 🎉
What is the difference between sour dough discard and just regular sour dough? I've never worked with it at all but here this often. Always enjoy your videos, Enjoy your family and this happy time.
I wash my dishes as I go. So by the time we sit down and eat dinner there are only dinner dishes to go into the dishwasher. Plus it keeps your counter clean to continue prepping. Now if I can only get my adult girls to clean as they go lol. Love your videos. I recently retired and find scratch cooking actually exciting. I’m a custom cake decorator so I was always more into baking than cooking. But I’ve learned so much from everyone and you’re using ingredients you already have bought and paid for. Example homemade sour cream, I was skeptical but omg it’s delicious and so much fresher tasting! I started a cookbook for my kids so they have old and new recipes etc. but I never thought about doing this when my mom and grandma were around now all those recipes not many have. So I’m asking my oldest brother who loves to cook if he remembers the recipes etc. So each time I find or create a recipe I immediately put it into my cookbook. This is an online cookbook that emails my kids and siblings those recipes I did. Plus they can insert their recipes too. It can be printed out professionally or with a home printer.
Thank you for the wonderful video! I'm going to make the baked oatmeal! Yummy! I loved watching Maxwell! It made me smile watching him pour the cinnamon instead of putting the spoon in to measure. He did a great job! ❤
I have been making homemade meals since I started watching you last month and started canning. And I am constantly looking for things to can. I have found I am able to make actual good food for dinner using jars I have canned in about a half an hour after work. That never would have happened without the canning. I actually cannot wait to get back into the kitchen to see what else I can put up. You really have made a huge impact on my life and the health of my family. So thank you for every video you put out. And I always have a jar of your crackers in the pantry now too! Best wishes to the bride and groom! Please don't worry about us, we will be here when your world gets a little back to normal.
Maxwell did a great job! I think I will have the grans do the same next visit. Baked oats is such an open canvas. I add jams I want to use up. I also canned a bunch of cranberry apple orange relish that is great in it. Also pineapple zucchini or frozen shredded zucchini is a great addition to get a little green in breakfast.
Your Baked oatmeal recipe,so delicious ♥️ I used 1/2 c. Pure maple syrup, which I will cut back to maybe 1/3 next time. It is my go to sugar. And took your suggestion of stirring in raisins. What a treat. I also like your encouragement to people starting in the kitchen. For time spent, can choose better ingredients even towards more organic, non gmo choices. $$saved too!!♥️♥️♥️
I only wish my mother had been like you. She was a very strict person, so glad I never had to work for her at her job. She is gone now, but I was not a fan of her teaching me things, so I did not learn to cook from her. However, I had the homesteader heart, she did not, and so as I grew up I learned from as man others as possible how to cook for myself and my family. So, even though I worked a full time job, my kids grew up on homemade food, as much as possible from scratch and organic. My oldest is 26, and I was seeing all the dyes and crap that were being put into foods then and avoided them every chance I got. Love your channel. Keep up the great parenting, and blessings to the bride and groom with the wedding festivities. P.S. My mother said about five years ago that I was the best cook in the family! Shocked the heck outta me, and she said it in front of her sister, who is a great cook and my sister, who learned from my mom, but is not a very good cook, lol. Blessings to your entire family. But mostly to you Ruth Ann, your patience is amazing!
Hello RuthAnn and sweet family! I never hardly ever bought store bought cereals when my kids were younger. Your breakfast recipes looked delicious and healthy. It’s always great to see the children helping in the kitchen. I hope the wedding goes smoothly and congratulations to the families. Have a blessed weekend!

Off topic a bit, but speaking of money saving recipes, do you make your own laundry soap/detergent? I’m sure your daughter’s wedding will be beautiful. 🙏 for many blessings.
I'm so glad to hear you're not afraid of good healthy fats...it's the bodies preferred fuel. Contrary to popular beliefs, it doesn't make you fat. There is so many healthy fats. Should be primary in the diet. Haven't tried the coconut sugar, but the xylotol seems to be very good alternative.
Thank you Ruthann and family!🙂 I'm so with you about breakfast! My dad was the same way. The best I can do first thing in the morning is a piece of toast and, maybe, a bit of fruit. The granola looks especially yummy! Squirting milk to the cats always brings a smile to my face.☺️ I understand about those starting off with cooking at home. Sometimes it seems like there's more prep. than there's hours in the day. For me at 70, it takes a little longer. 😉 Blessings! 💜
Love your videos! You are so right: those store-bought cereals are LOADED with additives, that turn you into an addict for those cereals! I’m looking for a much healthier version of granola cereals. Those are my favorite. Maxwell did an AWESOME job prepping & baking the cereal! ❤️
I am so glad I found your channel! I'm going to be trying the baked oats and granola recipes and I made your Mennonite White Bread 2 loaf recipe. The loaves were beautiful! Thank you for your fine videos. It's a pleasure to see the kids actively participating in the chores and cooking. ❤
Great video. I was just thinking about homemade cereal. What I appreciated the most though was the parenting tip with morning bloodsugar and grumpy kids. A less experienced mom would probably not consider that and end up having unnecessarily grumpy kids all the time.
Great video. As you mentioned we, too, don't eat until 10am when we have brunch...not typical 'breakfast' food at all but real food that keeps us content all day. Then, at 3ish, we have a small snack...and that's it. I think we are all programed to eat 3 meal/day which I don't think is good for us as adults...children, yes...they need to eat more often. Thank you again.
I learned something new, besides the recipes. My youngest wakes up and it is a struggle to get her to eat anything in the morning. I usually give her milk with whatever she is eating but she doesn't drink it, and doesn't usually eat her food. Maybe just sticking with a glass of milk until she's ready to eat would be more doable for her (and me, if she's wasting less lol). So thank you for sharing that about the glass of milk! And always, thank you for sharing your recipes! 🥰 God bless and stay safe!
I was dying watching Maxwell pour the cinnamon from that great big container into the tiny measuring spoon instead of putting the spoon in the container! I've never been an oatmeal fan, unless it was cookies or cake...But your baked oatmeal actually looked pretty good.
I am so glad to get these recipe to help make some tasty, healthy breakfasts. My husband loves granola so I am sure it will become a favorite. Good luck with the wedding and enjoy each and every part of it, making memories!
Thank you for giving me the courage. I'm working towards this life for my 3 boys and I. Since I've come across your videos, you've helped my confidence in knowing that this is the right direction!
Another wonderful video!! I've been mulling over homemade cereal for YEARS!! I have a little booklet from the German Baptist bulk food store that's just full of cereal recipes. I have made baked oatmeal, and we love that! I've also made lots of granola, which also makes a great snack. I've made a savory granola that has a little pinch of cayenne in it that we like, too. But your cinnamon toast crunch cereal is definitely on my bucket list. I'm praying for you and your daughter, and all the families involved in the wedding. I hope it's a beautiful family time for everyone!
cinnamon toast crunch was my favourite cereal but I'm not allergic to the ingredients, so I can't eat it. I love how simple your recipe is! For sure trying this🤗
What a wonderful gift you are giving by allowing us to see you make food and or projects with your family. I like that they are all involved in some way to get the job done. More families should follow this type of lifestyle to prep their children to become very productive adults. Thanks and blessings
RuthAnn have you ever considered publishing a cookbook? I love your recipes and would love a book to refer to. Thanks again for another couple great recipes.
Thank you SO much. I will try the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Unsure how to communicate my gratitude as I am now ready to try one more new recipe. Sourdough sandwich bread is an absolute hit at my home!!
I started baking bread which we are loving but have been trying sour dough starter but not successful keep throwing out. I like you are teaching your boys to cook. Thumbs up 👍🏻
OMG I just made your cereal recipe it is way better than store bought..my kids are going to be so happy ..we stopped buying cereal about a year ago they didn't like that idea but now once they taste this 😍thank you so much for the recipe
I really like the recipes below the video. I hate having to get an app to obtain the recipes. I don't have a computer so it all goes on my phone. Very helpful video.
We have been making a large dutch baby in the cast iron skillet for breakfast a lot recently. Our hens have resumed laying eggs. We need to dry up our cow soon, and I'll miss the fresh milk until she calves. I love homemade granola!! Never made baked oatmeal, but should try!
Good luck with pulling together the wedding! May they have a blessed marriage. Maxwell was so cute making the granola! Thank you for sharing these recipes. I have always hated how much cereal costs us and I know there are things in there that I would rather not be eating so I will definitely try these out.
That kitty fetting fresh milk from the cow is so preçious . I cañt wait tibmake the oatmeal iven dish that looks similar to what i màke on the stove. Thank you ❤
God is good! Thank you for this video!! Enjoy this wedding week!! I loved all the time I got to spend with my mom prior to my wedding. She did so much work for me! I’ll forever be thankful! God bless you and your family!
Congratulations on the wedding! Blessings to the happy couple! I love granola but I add a lil maple syrup, honey & brown sugar to the fat before stirring it into the cereal along with some dried fruit. Then I bake it up.
We have become baked oatmeal fans over the years. Banana Bread flavor is our top choice! Enjoy this special time preparing for your daughter’s wedding 🥰
Blessings to you and your family on this happy occasion and yes a wedding is happy .also I love your videos they have helped me even at almost 70. Never to old to learn ❤😊
May your daughter have a wonderful life with her soon to be husband. May they have many happy years ahead. Many Blessings

RuthAnn, I LV your curly hair - so jealous! I've been a Cosmetologist since 1961 and would love to cut a head of hair like yours....
Awe. Thanks!!!!
Isn’t it beautiful? I’ve always loved it as well.
Thanks for these recipes. Love watching your little boys becoming men. Asking blessings for your family as you add a son-in-law. 🙏🏻 God is Good. 🤗

Wonderful recipes! With your sourdough cracker recipe, try an offset spatula to spread. It would really help you. God bless you!
God’s blessing on the newlyweds and all of you amen

BEST WISHES and 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to the Happy Couple! May the wedding prep and Wedding Day go smoothly with lots of fun and memories.
I am astounded at the clever ideas. I will definitely be making the cereal and the baked oatmeal
Ruth Ann, I love your videos but I sure hope you take next week off and enjoy your family! 🥰❤️🙏🏻
Thank you Ruthann and family!🙂
I'm so with you about breakfast! My dad was the same way. The best I can do first thing in the morning is a piece of toast and, maybe, a bit of fruit. The granola looks especially yummy!
Squirting milk to the cats always brings a smile to my face.☺️
I understand about those starting off with cooking at home. Sometimes it seems like there's more prep. than there's hours in the day. For me at 70, it takes a little longer. 😉
Blessings!
Thank you Ruth Ann.
Thank You your information is so appreciated and I love the family involvement.
Thank You
I was dying watching Maxwell pour the cinnamon from that great big container into the tiny measuring spoon instead of putting the spoon in the container! I've never been an oatmeal fan, unless it was cookies or cake...But your baked oatmeal actually looked pretty good.
lol. Yes. Experience will teach him!! Lol
I am so glad to get these recipe to help make some tasty, healthy breakfasts. My husband loves granola so I am sure it will become a favorite. Good luck with the wedding and enjoy each and every part of it, making memories!
Thank you so much. I love how well your kids all work together and they do chores. No fighting.
Congratulations to your daughter and new son in law!
Loved this video. God bless you all. It made me smile with a tear in my eye that you are living the way God intends us all to live.
I absolutely love your channel. Your recipes are amazing and I can’t thank you enough on the $ I’ve saved. Thank you kindly and blessings to y’all.
Enjoy the wedding. We will miss you if you can’t get your video out but understand that some things have to come first!!
Great video enjoy your daughter’s wedding 💒 🎉😊❤
cinnamon toast crunch was my favourite cereal but I'm not allergic to the ingredients, so I can't eat it.
Thank you for all your warm homey healthy cooking videos! God bless you and your family!
RuthAnn have you ever considered publishing a cookbook? I love your recipes and would love a book to refer to. Thanks again for another couple great recipes.
Thank you for another video sharing your knowledge! Very much appreciated ❤
Thank you SO much. I will try the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Unsure how to communicate my gratitude as I am now ready to try one more new recipe. Sourdough sandwich bread is an absolute hit at my home!!
You are so welcome!
I love you're videos. Thank you!
I love your family and how you have taught your children great family values. Thank you for the breakfast recipes.
Thank you for the recipes. Your family is so blessed. We are blessed cuz you are sharing. Hugs from Washington State. Say hi to the family. God bless
Love how you get the younger children involved in the process.
Enjoy the wedding! May the couple be blessed!
I use a tablecloth with every meal. That's how it was when I was growing up and that's what I taught my children. Just makes a table look classy 🙂
Yes an extra layer of formality
Best of luck for the wedding to run smoothly.
Good luck with your daughter’s wedding. Many blessings!
Have a wonderful family weekend. GOD bless the newly weds for a long and happy life.
Is there a cookbook? I've really enjoyed meeting your family. I stand and applaud you.
Good luck with pulling together the wedding! May they have a blessed marriage. Maxwell was so cute making the granola! Thank you for sharing these recipes. I have always hated how much cereal costs us and I know there are things in there that I would rather not be eating so I will definitely try these out.
I love watching you and your family❤ God's peace and love to you all
Good job Maxwell

Prayers for a wonderful family wedding. Best wishes to the newleyweds.
It’s crazy how it took only one generation to loose all these skills. Here’s to bringing them back!
