    Our electric stove looks very similar to yours. We recently moved into an apartment. I was concerned about using this feature, because I don't know the history of this oven. Self-clean is currently running ( 9/25/2024. Timer shows 3:11 left for the cycle). The odor that you mentioned is real, however it is slowly going away. Fingers crossed and Fire Extinquisher at hand. Thank you for the video.

    Thank you. This isn’t even my oven, but I used your video to get mine to work. All I had to do was flip the door lock switch. On my oven, the rest was self-explanatory.
    I’ve moved around constantly for years and haven’t been in one place long enough to need to clean the oven. Also, I mostly use a convection over on the counter because you don’t have to pre-heat it. I have used the self-cleaning on an oven before, but it’s probably been a good 15 years. I couldn’t remember what to do!
    That was way too much explaining for a simply thank you. I just feel like making excuses because I’m an adult and I should already know this stuff. LOL

I just wiped it now with a dish sponge and while that took off all the grease/ caked on debris-turned-ash, it still left a light ring. @@paulstephensoliman1951 The door unlocks automatically when the oven cools down, even if you shut it down its still super hot and won't unlock until its cooler. And don't worry, the door and everything is supposed to be that hot and there can be bad odor smoke, just keep the room ventilated.

      Are you saying I shouldn't use the self-cleaning feature on this older model oven? If so, just curious why?

    Self clean oven, there so much smoke come out from the top and door .....so scared, end up cancels it

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 года назад

      Mine smells and I think theres a little smoke. You may need to preclean it first if it's that excessive. Once you get it clean, you may want to do it more frequently.

    the Class door.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  7 лет назад

      The door may not unlock until the cycle is completed and the temperature is back to normal. The inside of the oven is meant to get incredibly hot, so that it burns off and cleans the inside of the oven.

      Hummm... The best case scenario is you have clean racks and they're not warped at all. You may be okay or they may have been effected by the heat.

      ***** I'm in the mid west -10 out now ,got to wait till spring to open windows

      @MarkThomasBuilder  9 лет назад +1

      roxydog2004 If you can't wait till spring, you could run the bathroom exhaust fans and the stove exhaust fan. It's not as good as the windows, but it will help a little.
