I’ve followed her story for a long time. I was a huge Ann Rule fan and I live in Oregon close to where this happened. I actually use to live in Springfield at one time (where this happened).
I use to think Diane was stupid because it’s so insanely obvious she did this and only a moron would talk to much and be oblivious that she’s not convincing ANYONE.
It took me awhile to see that she actually isn’t stupid. She’s incredibly naive (or at least the time of the murder) and isn’t very good at understanding other people and lots of common sense.
I’ll never forget that 20/20 interview of Diane describing to a reporter in detail of watching Cheryl die right in front of her. Diane goes into details of her daughter coughing up blood, dying. Then Diane says (with zero expression or being upset) “it was so awful” but then she gives a long pause and gives a creepy smile/laugh after saying all that.
Nobody on the planet would believe her after seeing that. Nobody.
I’m kinda surprised you didn’t show that clip actually.

During her police interview when she said I know who it is but I'm not going to tell. All I could think was she is used to manipulating her way either because the other party believes her or just agreed to shut her up. The detective was not buying her story and hammering her pretty good...saying I known who it was and telling you is like sticking your tongue out with your fingers in your ears done when you're backed into a corner with no options. .

Diane Downs ALSO claimed that she was driving when the Duran Duran song "Hungry Like The Wolf" came on, and she was singing when this "bushy haired man" suddenly popped up in front of her car.
The prosecution actually played the song during her trial, and she was seen dancing in her seat, and shaking her legs with the beat.
Let me tell you this: Duran Duran was asked about this, and they REFUSED to acknowledge it. They didn't want their song to be associated with a child killer. As a Duranie, I don't blame them.

@@LuisReyes92 don't mind at all. I do have a Bachelors of arts majored in Psychology and a Bachelors of Social Work so I don't have some book knowledge on this stuff. I think people who are truly psychotic cannot help it. For Diane, she knows right from wrong. Sure she had a fucked up childhood but she knows first hand the pain a parent / person can cause. You have a choice to do bad or good. I beleive that Diane is a narcissistic sociopath meaning she became THIS Diane due to trauma but she chose to make those actions. I don't think she feels emotions except towards herself. She would be the prefect CEO because she would lie and cut people just to get to the top. Another unfortunate thing is that there wasn't anyone to stop her. For example my parents both grew up in abusive households. I got in trouble at age 2 and my father was going to beat me...my mom thankful stopped him and said " we promised not to do the same thing to our child". If I didn't have a strong mother I'd be a child of abuse. Mom choose to do good. My dad was about to choose bad even thought he knew it would hurt me. It took my mom to remind him . What I'm saying is, people will choose what they want to do despite knowing the consequences. For some people You just hope that someone can intercept them before to stop the evil act.
