My abusive mother killed 3 of her sons before the age of 2 and the first 2 were labeled as "SIDS" and the 3rd was labeled as medical neglect on her part. She forbid any of us other children (8) from speaking to anyone, including CPS. We knew what was waiting for us if we spoke up. She would change states and husbands every 2 years, cleaning them out as she went. Marrying one before divorcing the last. She'd always claim she had a "huge settlement" coming and would have them buy boats, houses, and expensive cars having them put her name on things otherwise she wouldn't "share" her settlement money when it came. She did this for decades. She died alone in January of this year and was found a month later. No one did anything except cremated her and her final husband picked up her ashes. People who do stuff like this don't deserve to live let alone have any dignity in death either. My sisters and I provided headstones for our brothers 30 years later once we finally found out where they were buried after she died.

The mothers of not breathing babies not typically known as being the strong silent type quote was perfect. I'm a Social Worker and can absolutely handle crisis situations calmly and logically. When my second son was 3 weeks old, he had a severe case of RSV and stopped breathing multiple times. I was pretty much hysterical in the ER and was losing it when they wheeled him out to the Flight for Life helicopter to take him to Children's Hospital. And I begged the Doctor to be allowed to go with him in the helicopter when they told me I couldn't. A nurse in the ER who was a friend of mine said the good thing was he would have no memory of any of it, but I'd remember that night every day for the rest of my life. He graduated high school last week, and yep, she wasn't wrong. Still makes me weak when I think about what he went through. This woman is disgusting.

    • @DC-bp8sx
      @DC-bp8sx Год назад +4

I’m so happy your son made it, I also experienced the same type of hysteria when my toddlers arm was dislocated while she was swinging up the kerb holding our arms. She wasn’t even crying but her arm was limp. We were absolutely hysterical and crying and she was so calm wondering why we were crying.

    • @DC-bp8sx

Not the exact same of course, but I understand what you mean about the hysteria.
Of course your case was way worse than a dislocated arm, but seeing your kids hurt wakes up a primal fear in most mothers.

I've lived in Brighton, Illinois my whole life. My mother was the real estate agent for Robert and Paula Sims, selling their Brighton home after Lorelei was murdered and selling them their new home in Alton, Illinois which is about 10 miles from Brighton. Obviously this was a HUGE story in the news at the time, so when Robert and Paula came into the small real estate office Mom worked in she recognized them immediately. Robert was very menacing, and Paula walked about 6 feet behind him at all times, never raising her head or speaking. Of course Mom had many conversations with the both of them throughout the whole process with paperwork and other things, but each time Robert was the only one that spoke for them and Paula NEVER raised her head to look at anyone. Mom has been convinced ever since that Paula did not act alone in the murders, and if she did hurt the baby girls it was because Robert didn't want girls, he only wanted boys. They had a boy child at the time that was unharmed throughout the whole ordeal. I can't remember how old the boy was, but he was also quite small at the time. All these years later the scars the tragedy left on a tiny town of barely 2500 people still resonates.

Maybe there'd be no deaths to question if they were anywhere near as interested in making sure his kids had food in their bellies!!! And that is not to defend this beast of a woman in any way at all. Since when are people being “harassed” or discriminated against over their bedroom choices, and so much that it’s necessitated a special closing statement of outreach with a support hotline?!?
Just thought I’d point out the irony in mentioning victims of domestic abuse seeking support or shelter-not *women’s* shelters-seeing as your abuser may now “self-identify as female” and stay at that very shelter you’ve sought refuge.

One reason I subscribe to this channel is the absolute attention to detail. I have look at the same stories on other channels, and have found them to be lacking. I knew Randy Simms, the son of Paula Simms. She was a monster, but him and his father were sweet and kind. Randy never said a harsh word, and would always smile in class. Despite his tragedy he did his best every day to live as a good person. Him and his father died in a car accident a few years back. It was a horrible tragedy. What is worse is that Paula is walking the streets again since their death. Thank you for bringing her case up, if only for a moment. It keeps Randy and his father's memories alive just a little longer and reminds us all of the monster Paula is.

I never got an answer, but did realize something: We can't understand it. It's impossible. If we could, we'd be the monsters ourselves. The harm she did is atrocious, AND I am always disappointed and disgusted that more isn't said about the men who casually create and abandon their children with mentally unstable women who may not have been pushed past the point of rational restraint but for the their actions. There are countless stories like this, where the men assume more babies will give sick women purpose and then simply...walk away.

    • @LRho

I totally agree. It's a constant theme. From a criminology perspective, it's called double deviance. Essentially, it's due to this societal perception that mothers are caregivers and nurturing and it's "worse" for women to commit these crimes.
Yes, fathers very often get a pass in these situations when they abandon their children. Fathers' presence in situations like this could have prevented it from escalating as well as giving children a way out of a dangerous situation.

After almost 5 years of trying for a baby, I finally got pregnant. She is my world and my EVERYTHING. I am a stay at home Mama and I love every single minute with her.
Hearing these stories about these evil and sadistic people and what they do to these innocent babies really tears me up. Your hardest story to sit through was baby Sterling. I was an emotional wreck trying to watch it. I never met that beautiful baby, but he pops into my mind every day since I watched his story. Even though it's so hard for my Mama heart to watch and listen to these stories, I know it's important for their stories to be heard. I just don't understand why these evil monsters (I refuse to call them parents because they definitely are not) can do this to their own children.

I know this was during the 80s so maybe there was just a lack of knowledge about this in the medical community. But right off, SIDS is practically impossible at two years old. I'm not sure of the actual statistics but it's less and less common as babies age. I know this "mom" is a monster already 😔

You can die of a type of SIDS up to 15yo, there have even been adults labeled as dying from it or a version of it.
I know of a lady how lost her 8yo to Sudden child death...it was sad but he just stopped breathing while asleep and died 😢 there was nothing that could have been done sometimes kids just stop breathing in their sleep, I believe if it happens allot it does actually have a name for the condition, my own brother use to do it but grew out of it never had any medical help just a few Dr trips.
It was a blessing in disguise tho because the lady I knew with the 8yo had more kids and her 3rd child also stopped breathing in her sleep and because the lady was now very watchful she would check on the kids at night she managed to catch her wee girl and shake her awake and saved her life. She then wore a monitor with an alarm after that for a few years but grew out of it 👍
So even tho she lost her boy her experience saved her daughter and she said it was her boys gift to her.
After hearing her story I check my boys every night when I wake up to go to the loo or get a drink 👍 and kept them as babies close to me and it helped because my son at 2 had a bad cough and he also stopped breathing but obviously that isn't sudden it was an actual problem with the airways but still I thank that lady for her story.
Hope this story helps with the understanding of SIDS a little.
It's every parents worst nightmare 💔
You are right about this woman in the video tho...don't seem like SIDS to me ... Very sad.
Just wanted to add that I am from the UK and the midwifes must say different things from country to country so I fully understand if the information is different but equally still scary and sad 😢

First and foremost, I want to say your videos are always such top tier quality, equal to that of JCS. Thank you for your dedication and hard work so that we the viewers can learn about these cases through such high quality. But secondly, the ugly snort laugh I did when I heard, "Do not take Leskil if you are allergic to thr number 6" really sent me. Was not expecting such a good laugh from such a serious video, but it was a nice reprieve from such a heavy topic.

I'd be curious to hear your take on an old Australian story of a mother accused of murdering her 4 babies, Kathleen Folbigg. It's quite a polarising case with lots of later developments. She was just pardoned and released from prison after serving 20 years. It's quite complex but I know you'll cover it perfectly.

What she did was horrendous. An unstable woman with deep insecurities is a dangerous woman. This was more than someone overwhelmed with responsibilities. She was a manipulative liar. So sad for her children. They didn't ask to be born and I am sorry, but their father was pretty awful too, abandoning them to go off with someone else😢..that is a terrible thing to do as well. He could have provided child support at the very least, to take a little financial pressure off. A terrible and tragic outcome. I really hope their daughter gets all the support she needs to come to terms with what happened to her little brothers.

I must give it to you, you are spectacular at creating and narrating these videos. Great voice, and one that should probably be heard more often. I don't know if you have considered DJing, radio or TV, etc, but perhaps you should consider it if it interests you along with RUclips. Thank you for another excellent video, and thank you most of all, for sharing with us all!

Good to put a face to the voice, you're doing awesome things and i love the content.
I appreciate you saying about how everyone reacts differently to stress/emergencies/greif. I have a family member that during the emergency is cool as a cucumber and totally collected, but once the dust settles she falls apart and people think thats weird but im confident its saved my ass at least once. I also have had times where i was genuinely distraught but due to having emptional regulation problems, i kept it together until i had a safe space to deal with it. People forget that those with mental health issues react totally off the wall and while its good to make note of it especially when we are talking about a child's wellbeing, its not an outright sign of guilt. Thats not the case in this episode sadly, but i was accused of hurting my mom as a child because i wasnt wailing about her being sick (she recovered from this) and it was traumatic and totally unnecessary because i was literally like 10 years old

Thank you for covering a St. Louis case, Jiles! Just FYI, the women's prison is pronounced Chilly-coth-ee, one of 2 in the state. The one they send you to if you're in danger of other inmates, I'm glad to hear she's there.
If you ever do another STL case, could you please cover the abduction of 9-year-old Angie Houseman? The -- POS left her alive, duct taped to a tree in February, after 9 days of no food or water. Hunters found her just hours after she froze to death. It was next to Lake 32 at Busch Wildlife. They finally found the guy, after finding semen on her Barbie underwear, 2 decades later... Makes me gag.

@@IToastMySocks My mom said when they announced they found her, and how she was frozen to death, my mom teared up went to give me a hug and hold me, but couldn't find me. I was 8 and looked just like Angie, and was playing a game. Ignorant pf the circumstances, I'd hidden under a chair and eventually jumped out to scare her. Needless to say, I frightened her way more than I meant to. Especially as this girl disappeared walking half a block to her house from the school bus, and the neighbor who usually watched the kids get off looked away for literal seconds to tend to her own kid. That's all it took for him to shove her in his van and drive off.
